  2. I heard about the $350 special, but apparently it hasn't been available at that price for a long time. I got it around that price, and it's been used a total of 10x according to the previous owner. It certainly looks brand new. I honestly felt like I'd stolen the stuff, he would have spent $1,700 or more on these tools! I got them for less than half that. He had a spray gun in there also, but not sure how good it is for spray painting. Might use it for things like the Airbox and spraying epoxy primer to prevent surface rusting panels etc.. Hmmm that's what I haven't tried lol.. I really can't wait to get my own place and have better working space...
  3. So didn't know where else to put this, so I'm putting it here. Another Safari Gold refresh thread. https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/58568-duffys-171-series-1-240z-build/ Update is: I recently bit the bullet and got myself a decent air compressor along with a bunch of tools. Bought them off a guy who purchased it all new for a Mustang restoration project he had to sell off, lots of it panel beating related tools etc..for literally half the price he paid for most of it. A good chunk of the tools I use regularly at Tafe so 1 closer to not needing tafe for the tools, although I can't easily replace my teachers.. yet.
  4. https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/Mazda-RX-3-1977/OAG-AD-16857122/ 1977 Mazda RX-3 SP S124A Manual Priced at: $80,888 (808?).. I have to say I think it will likely sell at that price quickly. Given the prices I've seen other early rotary's achieve.
  5. This is a great article for anyone so inclined as to learn about the points system. https://www.hagerty.com/articles-videos/articles/2019/01/21/ignition-debate-points-vs-pertronix For years I sort of half understood how it works, now I have a much better sense of how it all works.
  6. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1971-datsun-240z-series-1-45-years-owned/ Safari Gold Early 240z in the US for sale.
  7. Bargain price for 4 screw hitachi "240z" SU's. https://www.ebay.com/itm/283358238354?ul_noapp=true Missing a couple of bits though!
  8. Nice looking old hot rods!
  9. Actually it's a different wheel to the other 3. Also not sure about the damage on that single wheel as shown in the photograph. This wheel is more like the Z432 wheel with the casting stamp RMW-9L331 - What's odd about this wheel is that there is no centre hub for a cap on it. There seems to have been a lot of variances over the years. This wheel likely weighs slightly more based on the details Alan posted earlier in this thread. So whilst they would look close, you would still have 1 odd wheel compared with the other 3. It seems with the replicas about now, there has been a flurry of old (in some cases worn out) wheels listed for sale. Interesting.
  10. How cool is this?
  11. This will go down well with the other half :).
  12. So I cannot get the pin out! I tried WD40 and a blow torch to heat it up and expand it, but the pin punch is just bending. So I had another distributor as a spare, so I decided to try remove the pin on that 1 and just a light tap and out it came. So mine is stuck in there good. What are my options? 1. Drill it out (Not sure if the pin is hardened steel?) 2. Angle grind the steel collet off? 3. Try some kind of dremmel attachment? 4. Other ideas?
  13. Looks like it. http://123ignition.nl/product.phtml?id=221
  14. So much better than the floor pans before! Nice work making the gusset section of the rail that goes just below the firewall.
  15. By the way, love what you're doing but if someone else wanted to just have a programmable ignition in their 240z. This might be a better option? http://123ignition.nl/ https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/61473-datsun-240260280z-123-ignition-programmable-bluetooth-distributor/ Local distributor in Hawthorn VIC. https://www.123ignition.com.au
  16. Haha, yeah I saw that 1.
  17. This came up in my recommended list. I haven't seen the whole thing, but love old buildings like this and of course the old car.
  18. To quote Alan..hope he doesn't mind. It's possible they are reproductions of some sort, but hard to say. As Alan mentioned in that thread above they wouldn't take much to copy. As for 2 vs 1 clip. I could always modify them to have 2. But given that we don't know exactly how they changed over the years and if they work fine with 1 I'm inclined to leave them as is.
  19. I'm almost sure some kind of K+N generic filter will be able to fit.
  20. Managed to finally get some hamster cages for Evie. Cost a small fortune. https://www.rinkya.com/en/auction-d339318822 But actually a very reasonable price for old sports option parts (in my humble opinion). Part No. 16500-E4620 I've seen a few NOS ones sell for triple that! https://photos.app.goo.gl/subVJvsxjBqpn2Vq9 Alan also provided some photos for reference here. At least with a set in hand it will be easy to potentially copy and make more in future to suit my other S30Z's.
  21. It will work, early 260z doors are similar to late 240z doors. Door trims will fit etc.. On my 72 the problem is I have 240z window hardware in a 260z shell. So someone has modified it to accept the 240z planetary gears etc..
  22. It sucks when you discover you have a 260z door on your 240z.. I'd take the time and effort to source a 240z door, otherwise winding up and down windows is going to be a pain in the butt.. mine works but I always wondered why it felt so odd compared with the drivers side.
  23. No reserve 1970 240z https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1970-datsun-240z-32
  24. Good result for this 71 240z in the US of A. $50k USD.
  25. 71 240z in 907 Green (HLS30) in North America just achieved $50,000 USD at auction. That's $69,000 AUD in today's exchange rate.
