  1. https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/southport/cars-vans-utes/mouse-over-image-to-zoom-1971-datsun-240z-manual-unmolested-aust/1204495418 Interesting.. I went looking for it yesterday and found it was marked as sold on CarSales. As you can see from the screenshot. Dodgy dealers lol..
  2. Early 240z storage bins. https://www.ebay.com/itm/70-early-71-datsun-240z-rear-shelf-early-style-no-tool-box-rare/323704615968
  3. Brisvegas 71 240z has sold.
  4. I'm guessing you're restricted to the factory ECU? No aftermarket ECU's?
  5. Better video.
  6. I knew C3 Vette's wouldn't stay cheap for long... Grr... I like the Egg Crate grille early 70s look.
  7. Ok, let me grab a photo of it tonight. It came with a spare fuel filler section cut out I imported from the US as a patch / section for my 240z. Only problem is separating it from the filler neck section, think I'm gonna need a lot of vaseline and a hairdryer...
  8. I'd imagine the fuel injection can work quite well also with a few tweaks, dump the heavy bumpers and it's literally a late 260z body shell anyway (or S31)..Already has the L28 swap done too!
  9. @HomeBuiltByJeff I may have a spare fuel hose/inlet piece for you to use? They are made of tough plastic, not sure how your 1 cracked?
  10. 40mm Mikuni's. https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/d349967302 Pretty sure these are the ones that were fitted to the S20 engine. N40PHH-A15a
  11. But why? LOL..
  12. @shime your chance to buy it again? https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/berwick/cars-vans-utes/datsun-260z/1188555931
  13. I have a feeling that was an old friend of Jim Irvine? Who is now the custodian of a lot of his spares? I think we spoke on the phone about the Topy's and Cap's a while ago, but got the impression he wasn't in a rush to offload them just yet. Good to see they went to a good home however!
  14. George you're putting me to shame here, I don't think I can accept a lower standard than this on my cars now :(.. It just seems they deserve this level of attention after all these years of service. Hat tip, bravo!
  15. Oh and incase anyone is considering buying this lower valance section for their 240z from here: https://zcardepot.com/products/rear-valance-apron-roll-pan-sheet-metal-240z-260z-280z https://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/30-7240 https://zcarsource.com/body-parts/rear-valance-tail-light-panel/rear-valances I honestly don't recommend it, the gauge of steel used is way too thick and this panel is quite flexible (OEM) which allows you to more easily manipulate it and fit it. I've had to wrestle with this panel all the way, yes it will be far stronger and solid once on and probably far less likely to suffer rust issues in future, but the expense of USD->$AUD and shipping involved means I'd ask someone like @Ledge or @Léon to hand form this in house, or find a good donor (I haven't found 1 yet). Instead...
  16. Jeff, after spending close to $3k on vapour blasting and cad plating recently I'm starting to question if I'm a concourse type of guy also. :).
  17. So attached are some of the images of progress. You can see the ends are not done yet. But importantly you can see how close the gap is with an accurate scribe line. The X are there to help make sure the welds align with where the scribe was made since as you move along and weld things can shift. Basically I couldn't get the lower portion to follow the right curve, so by welding it into place and following the line of the upper half, it's forcing it to align with that curve.
  18. Not sure where I'd find a matching fog lamp sadly, but looks like it could be a good alternative for the OEM fog lamps.
  19. I'm loving the engine bay detailing.
  20. So last night I spent time doing a lot of manual filing and scribing the line from the upper half to lower half of the valance section. I then cut the really thick lower half along the scribe line, which was a workout in itself with tin snips. I didn't use a grinder or cutting disc since accuracy here is critical! Especially when oxy welding. You want to have 1mm gap between the 2 sections. I don't have photos of it now, but we did tack weld in several places so the 2 pieces are now joined. We started from the middle working our way out towards the edges. I may end up re-doing the tail light cut out section (cut out and re-weld another section in) to get the welds neater, although after grinding them down it does look a lot neater. However 1 thing I've learnt is the importance of accurate scribing and filing of the 2 edges you're going to weld together. If you get that right the welds are a lot better as you don't require filler rod.
  21. Only 1 Koito lamp thingy? Not both?
  22. Looks like a good car, this particular dealer sells a lot of special cars.
  23. Not so much about the man cave, but the race track next door. With a few more member donations perhaps we can group buy this thing and take turns to use it? https://www.domain.com.au/98-mountain-straight-mount-panorama-nsw-2795-2014922791 No idea what the asking price is, I'm guessing probably over $2M.
  24. Phil claimed in the video the car was immaculate and he didn't need to do anything to it as it was in pristine condition. He did a full walk around showing how collector status it was.. probably why he removed it. Too incriminating.
  25. Lol, the ad was taken off yesterday then. Phil must be watching this thread still. Hi Phil..
