  1. Great buy and great looking Z. Is this car a Fairlady Z or a Datsun 260z? As in is it stamped S30 or RS30? It looks like an Australian delivered 260z, but you mentioned Fairlady. Fairlady Z's came in a variety of trim levels and had different options compared with export markets etc.. .
  2. Feel free to list it in the classifieds, a unique rare vehicle and someone on here might be interested in it. I would be if I was back in Oz right now . Although she needs some lovin' that's for sure.
  3. I get the feeling as much as Sulio loves his Z he is looking forward to restoring another down the line and is ready to part with this 1 for the right money. He may change his mind when he discovers the hassle of selling a car and getting the money you want for it. Dealing with time wasters / dreamers and the like. I think he should keep it for the simple fact that if he sells it, he'll be looking for ages to get the right Z again.
  4. Currently you can't embed youtube videos in the forum thread, mainly for security reasons. I'm thinking of changing this in future.
  5. LMAO. Steve car looks amazing, paint job is super slick and the colour really stands on edge. It will look fantastic once you put it all back together. Gotta take some photos of it .
  6. Hey mate, I got the details for featuring your car on the home page. Did you manage to get some cool photos? Now would be an ideal time to have it on the homepage . Shame you are selling up, but you can always buy another when you are in a position to. The biggest difference is that when you built the car Auszcar wasn't anywhere near where it is today. Now you have all the contacts and resources to build a similar car relatively easily (I would hope so anyway) so all is not lost.
  7. Possibly the funniest thing I've read today. Welcome my friend welcome!
  8. -->>>>>> Off topic Unfortunately location is not showing below username right now. In the last forum update it appears the template files changed and this went walk-about with it. I have to check the old template files to see what variable prints the location under username. So it will be back soon, but looking under someone's profile should tell you where they are from anyway for now. **** Back on topic ***** Nice car and wheels, good luck with the sale.
  9. Hi Ben Please have a read of our forum guidelines re: offering services etc.. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,1402.msg9957.html I did make a couple of updates today to the guidelines, but generally speaking it would have been nice to introduce yourself and your interest in Z-cars before offering your services through our website in your first post.
  10. God help the guy who tries to steal my Z if I catch him . Good to hear it wasn't stolen, but definitely someone wanted your car that's for sure. At Google we got special bikes with Google written on them. I ride my bike to work everyday and one morning I came out to discover someone had helped themselves to my Google bike, out of all the bikes there they wanted that 1. It still gives me rage that they stole it and it was just a damn bike. I had my Corolla broken into a few years back, before I could afford full insurance. The pricks didn't just steal my stereo, they smashed the centre console getting it out, they bend the drivers door so far backwards it ruined the hinges and bent the front panel and ruined the door skin, they ripped the antenna off and broke the window getting in, they also let the air out of the tires. The alarm went off, but it didn't deter them smashing it up. I guess being parked on a higher level later at night means nobody is around to stop them. Camera's were only on the entrance and police couldn't lift a fingerprint or couldn't be bothered either way. I'm pretty certain I know who did it too, when I arrived at the car park we saw a gang of youths hanging out the front of the shopping centre entrance and they just stared at the car as we drove in. Its a fair bet either jealousy, boredom or a combination of both made them decide to go find the car and break into it. They would have been about 15-17 and too young to drive. As a broke uni student I had only 3rd party insurance, so I wore the full brunt of expenses. I then decided to fix it up and sell the Corolla, which I then used the money to buy my current 240z. So in a round-about-way they did me a favor although I really wish I could have caught them doing it.
  11. Hi Everyone, So I've been thinking about this a bit, especially because I cannot find a RHD original 240z mirror. I also realise there are plenty of other parts that are NLA for our Zeds. As the cars get older you can almost guarantee NOS parts will become harder and harder to find. So it got me thinking, what if I could get certain parts remade in mass? I had a quick Google, but obviously somewhere like China would be ideal. Anyone have experience trying to do anything like this? I'm not sure but it looks like others have done this before for say early Rotary parts: http://shop.ebay.com.au/?_from=R40&_trksid=p3907.m38.l1313&_nkw=rx3+tail+lights&_sacat=See-All-Categories Obviously there are some ethical issues here too, in that you don't want to recreate parts to pass them off as Genuine when they are not. However I would be focusing on creating parts that are not possible to get from Nissan.

I think the E30 was also found on the C210 and R30 skylines over here. I may be wrong about the R30 skyline, but i'm pretty certain about the C210.
  13. The LHD mirror stalk is different to the RHD stalk. As mentioned in this thread, not sure if it makes a difference for you or not? For RHD or LHD car? I've seen plenty for a LHD car, but never seen 1 for a RHD car.

  15. This was pretty amazing, thought I'd share. http://speedhunters.com/archive/2010/01/29/car-feature-ultimate-misfit-the-ferrambo.aspx Gives me ideas for building a Datsun 510 / 1600 wagon .
  16. Are you in Thailand? If so, I don't like your chances of getting a shell sent over.
  17. Yeah they are trying to increase inbound links to their website to help with their rankings on Google and other search engines. Link spam, and they are obviously getting more creative with their methods.
  18. I've always loved the 510 / 1600 shape. I would love to get 1 myself although I must confess I'd be considering putting a rotary motor in it. The 510 2 door looks great. Would be good to see photos of it if all works out.
  19. Yeah I'd much rather see someone give away or get rid of some parts than have them taken to the tip.
  20. Man wish I was there guys, looking forward to photos take plenty.
  21. Yeah unfortunately we need more than 1 gig of space due to the gallery and image attachments on the forum. Our last plan was $50 p/month which was good, however unfortunately the forum activity was causing high demand on the CPU usage of the shared environment. You may recall I was upgrading software and trying all sorts of caching technology but it didn't seem to make much difference and the next plan was managed virtual private hosting which was a fair bit more expensive. The hosting plan does allow me to host more than 1 website however, so I'm happy if we cover most of our hosting cost each month but not necessarily all of it. The longer term plan is to eventually integrate the entire website into a single software package (instead of 3 different ones like it is currently) which will make the site maintenance easier and allow me to easily move the site to another host (maybe cheaper?) if required.
  22. I was thinking that perhaps what I should do is once a month post how much our hosting cost is, how much we earned from advertising and how much was donated so everyone can see where we are at in terms of hosting costs? I realise a lot of people visit the forum section of the site so perhaps I can put a rotating banner on the site as a reminder for donations too. .
  23. Thanks mate, and thanks to everyone who donates. I really appreciate it. Just a reminder that web-hosting costs around $170 AU per month. Google Adsense makes us about $20-$30 p/month and donations really do vary each month between $20 - $70 (its hard to gauge exactly how much since members often donate different amounts at random intervals). Whilst our web-hosting is not the cheapest, I believe the service we get is worth the money. I've been through 2 other hosting companies previously (as well as others for friends / family / work etc...) and there is nothing worse than having a bad hosting company. I'm not sure what our up-time has been over the past couple of years, but off the top of my head its been pretty good and a large part of that is due to our host providing reliable servers. So yes I could probably save some money here and there on hosting, but for me its not worth the headache. Bottom line I guess is that I'm willing to spend a little bit extra on web hosting, but I appreciate any contribution made. If you don't have money to spare, you can contribute in other ways. - Refer / encourage a friend to join the site - Write up a technical how to article that we can make a sticky post for other members - Write up a FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) post - to address all those same old questions we get when people join. - Arrange discounts for other Auszcar.com members through your own business or a local business - Take the time to say hi to new members and make them feel welcome - Submit details for a featured member ride on the homepage - this really helps me save time . - Stroke my ego and send me thank you emails saying how much you love Auszcar.com (just kidding I get enough of those already). You get the idea I hope anyway.
