  1. I just came across these images and for me, I think I'm happy not to Flare my Z yet if I can get it to look like this: Anyone care to guess what size they are?

  3. Yeah the only major problem with using unleaded is that you need harder valve seats since the lead would lubricate it. As a side note: I also only found out the other day why it was illegal to put leaded in unleaded cars. It was because it would destroy the catalytic converter.
  4. Just updated my profile all the same.
  5. To be honest, while it's nice to know I don't think it is too important. I don't see age as a big deal when we all love Z's. I met Len Brennan who is well into his 70's (sorry if I'm wrong Len) when I was 24 and we were hanging out chatting about Z's and race cars. I guess that's the good thing about sharing a passion age doesn't matter. Also I could enable a gender icon next to all your username's but last night I checked the most viewed user profiles on the site and 1 of the few females who is rarely on the site has 1 of the most viewed profiles. So not sure you guys need the encouragement lol. For the record hunter has the most viewed profile (this month), so that Mankini must be working. Sex sells as they say .
  6. It looks good on the 2 seater ZX, not sure if it would be in proportion on the 2+2 though. See how the black ends at the drivers door. Not sure you can achieve that with the 2+2. http://zhome.com/History/10thAniv_red.GIF
  7. He also mentions it's 99% rust free. Only $4k almost sounds too good to be true.
  8. 2 reasons. 1. The actual car you have is so bad you don't want to photograph it. or... 2. You don't know how / are too lazy to upload photo
  9. Exactly what I was thinking to be honest. Those rails don't look too bad, in that you should be able to replace them. What makes you think the car is "twisted"? A chassis jig should be able to line it up pretty good.
  10. Carsales this time. http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/private/details.aspx?R=8707255 Cheeky beggar using another photo of a 240z. 260z 2 seater http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/private/details.aspx?R=8668872 After owning and building this immaculate 260z 2-seater for the past 10years I have decided to put it up for sale as I just dont drive it. The car is completely rust free and the paintwork glows with a show room quality paint job in its origional blue. Engine is a L28 that has been stroked to 3.1L, been fully blue printed and dyno tuned, running fuel injection and outputing 165rwkw. The engine recieved the best parts money could buy and took me several years to complete and collect the parts for. The engine has done under a 1000km's since it was built. The Z is very streetable with tonns of torque running a 74 degree cam it can drive up hill in 5th gear at 40km/h and still accelerate! It runs a 6 throttle body fuel injection system, with wolf V4 engine management and a 3 coil direct crank ignition, so it has very useable power and starts first time. The interior is in beautiful very orgional condition as seen in pics. Along with the current setup listed below I will supply a second set of height adjustable suspension, even bigger 300mm rotors front and back with Z32 4-piston calipers. I was origionally going to track race this car hence the parts list below but decided I couldn't risk damaging it, thus it never saw th track. Here the list of parts: Engine (machining/bluprinting/balancing by crankshaft rebuilders) L28 - over bored, press fit plugs drilled replaced with screw in. etc... Stroker crankshft, resized, one piece nose, polished, weighted, etc... Conrods, weighted, shotpend, 9mm arp rod bolts, bushed little end, etc... Ceramic coated full floating pistons Tomie oil pump/ 2mm metal head gasket Billet steal fly wheel/ GTR clutch Ported head, match ported intake manifold, larger valves 74 deg cam, adj sproket etc 6 -efi throlttle body, bosch ms inject 3 coil direct crank ign custom fuel setup 280z gearbox Cusco 1 way diff/ custom axles poly bushings, whiteline swaybars 280mm brakes 4piston calipers WAY MORE but run out or characters...
  11. Here is a nice looking white 240z. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/DATSUN-240Z-/250628614101 Great for restoration to original condition.
  12. In the 80's when these photos look like they were taken. I reckon she would have been a bit of fun.
  13. Love the mockup's but where is the Auszcar.com stickers? Oh and you have to put the videos up on youtube.com of course! There is no better way to get the world watching . Especially if you can make it funny.
  14. It's strange because you interact with people on an online forum and sometimes all you see is names on a screen. When something like this happens it makes you realise it's much more than that and that each member of the community contributes in some way shape or form. Unfortunately I never met Josef, but I am still very sad to hear of his passing and I fully support any drive day in his memory now and in future. R.I.P mate, way too young.
  15. Damn right, you know living in Ireland may be ridiculously expensive, but at least they offer classic registration for a flat 50 euro per year. Also classic car insurance is cheaper (same in Australia) and there is a flat 50 euro import tax on cars over 30 years old. I wish you could get CH plates for everyday use or at least regular use of a classic vehicle. You shouldn't be punished for owning a classic car and preserving history, you should be commended as you said. So back to the topic at hand, classic vs new car. A classic will always be something special, it will never handle as well or have the same power output stock, nor will it be free from trouble. It will however have it's own unique character, something special about it. It will have it's own quirkiness. It's own strange behavior and needs. However that's what makes it all the more fun. The best way to judge a car by it's coolness is show kids. Kids instinctively know what's cool. Show them a 370z and show them a 240z. See what they think is cooler, my money is that they will pick the 240z.
  16. Well for me it's simple really...A 370z may be more practical and more suitable to everyday driving but... Every Tom, Dick, Harry and Louise is going to own 1. As soon as you buy it you'll loose several thousand dollars on it. For a couple of weeks people will talk to you about it and say "hey cool car man". Then before you know it a later version will be out and it will just be another car on the road... Restoring a 240z on the other hand.. well you get something pretty unique. Everywhere you go people will stare at it or wanna talk to you about it. People will offer to buy it off you and it will be something that feels pretty special to take out on weekends. If you do ever decide to sell it, you'll probably not loose too much money on it. Almost all cars loose value mind you, very little provide a return on investment.. I must say I much prefer the look of the earlier Z over the later series, that's just me though.
  17. I think Lurch was joking, he did say he was going to delete your Internets... If you do it take a big Auszcar.com banner with you and wave it around in front of the camera. Who knows if you get locked up and heaps of publicity at least you can plug this site. As they say there's no such thing as bad publicity... You're a unique snowflake Andrew, now go do what you do best.
  18. Just want to check that you know this is primarily an Australian Z-car site so members would be looking to have items shipped to Australia?
  19. Is this Cuong in Western Australia with the RB26DETT conversion? I believe I got in contact with him a while back, but the car wasn't on the road. Wouldn't hurt to follow up with him again though. I had a couple of submissions recently I need to follow them up though. I've been busy / lazy. We do need a new car on the homepage though.
  20. 1 of the best cars for sale I've seen in a while. Wonder what she'll fetch, wouldn't take too much to bring her back to 100% original that's for sure. Hope someone doesn't buy it to race it though as the description might suggest. .
  21. Funny thing is, I've been bitten by the rotary bug myself . Just listen to this sound, brap brap brap. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3QvoWA1uHIo 20B would be enough for me lol. Honestly though the old L-series is a cool motor, if you want big HP numbers go RB. If you want the experience of an old school 60's / 70's sport car stick with the L-engine.
  22. * US market Datsun 610 coupe. It has unique tail lights to that market. Not sure if JDM got them also, but definitely different to the Aussie market. * Datsun 710 Coupe. Again US version, not sure we got a coupe like that in Australia? We called them 200B's but we had a different coupe shape. * 140J * 140J Not sure if JDM market got those lights. Got it off Flickr.com for a US market car. Engine pic is indeed from the Prince R380, I guess the red paint is a giveaway and the MR layout. Great looking car.
  23. Such a strange shape if you ask me. Kind of glad we didn't get them in Australia .
  24. Toyota 2000GT Looks like KPGC10 or KPG10 can't tell from that side profile. My guess is non-GTR.
