IP.Content 2.0 uses the term "frontpage" to refer to both the homepage of the Articles module, and the landing page of each individual category. We have introduced this new navigational structure to better allow you to showcase content, while presenting it in a standardized format that your users will be able to understand and jump into without assistance. Firstly, you will now be able to define "frontpage" templates in the ACP for the Articles module. IP.Content will ship with 3 defaults: 1x2x2 Layout This layout will display articles in a traditional "news" style layout. Blog format This format will display articles in a blog-style format. Single column This layout will force articles to display in a single column, one per row. You can use one or more of these frontpage layouts, or you can create your own. Experiment with displaying articles in different formats on your homepage to determine which layout your users like best. Articles must be set to "Show on front page" in order for them to display on the homepage frontpage. In addition to the homepage frontpage, each category has it's own frontpage. The category frontpage functions identically to the homepage frontpage, except for two important factors: Only records from within that category (and it's subcategories) will be displayed The "Show on front page" setting is not honored for the category frontpage You will be able to easily review and manage the articles set to display on the frontpage from a new section of the ACP labeled "Frontpage Manager". We feel that this new area of the articles section will help showcase important articles and increase user interaction with your articles section.

In the IP.Content ACP, you will notice that there are 3 separate template sections of the ACP: Block Templates Page Templates Database Templates Article Templates Within each templates section, you can create containers to group your templates into logical groupings. For instance, you may wish to create a grouping for each database you create, and then place the database templates appropriately into the container representing the database itself. Or you may wish to create multiple front page templates, and group them all together in the article templates area. You can use containers for whatever purposes you may have, or not at all: it's up to you! Templates can be reordered by dragging and dropping the rows up and down, and they can be moved from one container to another via drag n drop as well. Certain meta data about the templates are stored when you create new database or article templates, allowing IP.Content to tailor other areas of the ACP to help you out. For example, the software stores the template type when you create a new template. This allows us to show only "category listing" templates in the "category listing template" selection dropdowns. Similarly, the template tag help panel can automatically know which template type you are editing without you having to specify. Properly making use of templates can help you push out pages on your site in a uniform manner quickly and easily, and without having to "reinvent the wheel" each time a new page is ready to be published.

The page management module interface has many powerful tools built in, designed to help you work with pages and folders in IP.Content efficiently. Firstly, the folder navigation utilizes AJAX to load the folder contents inline without requiring you to visit a new page to view the contents of the folder. We have also updated some common management features to utilize AJAX to help facilitate management of your pages. Actions like clearing folders and deleting folders, for instance, will now occur without page refreshes, making your managerial activities flow smoother and quicker. Additionally, the interface as a whole has been updated to provide a nicer, smoother feel for the page management areas. In practice, we found that many administrators spend the majority of their time setting up and utilizing IP.Content in the page management areas, so we wanted to update the user interface to make this experience as easy and enjoyable as possible. Minor details like confirmation dialogs have been updated to bring everything together for a more consistent feel. A new filter bar, utilizing AJAX to retrieve the results without the need for a page refresh, has also been added to the page management area. You can begin typing in the name of a page and a live-search action will occur in the background, showing you the results of your search as you type. If you have many pages and many folders (and many pages within those many folders), you will find that using the filter bar to locate your pages can dramatically speed up your navigation of IP.Content within the page management areas of the ACP. Overall, we've modernized the IP.Content page management area of the ACP, polishing up the little details, in an effort to make your experience all the more pleasant.

IP.Content allows you to promote posts from your forums to articles in the IP.Content Articles database. The administrator can configure the specifics of this feature in the ACP under My Apps -> IP.Content -> Promote Article Settings. You can turn the system on and off, control which groups can copy and move posts to the articles section, and specify a few other details for the feature. A new hook is included with IP.Content which adds a button to each post labeled "Promote to Article". This button only shows up if you have permission to use the feature based on the ACP configuration. When clicked, the button will take you to a new form where you can formalize the details of the new article. You can tweak the text and title, upload an image, and specify other pertinent details. If you are able to both move and copy posts to the articles section, you will also be asked which type of promotion you wish to use. Upon submitting the form, IP.Content handles the rest. This new feature can be used to showcase important content otherwise hidden in your forums by pushing this content to your frontpage. It is then up to you whether you want a copy made in the articles section (leaving the original post in tact), whether you want to actually move the post to the articles section, and whether you want any cross-linking left in place. With such powerful options, we are sure you will find many uses for this great tool available in IP.Content.

IS George Miskovski's V8 240z still getting around?
gav240z replied to kobes's topic in Off Topic Discussions
I wouldn't take everything Sulio says as true. He has been known to stir the pot from time to time. I'd be disappointed if this was true though. *Sigh* another "fake" Ferrari. -
Cars For Sale (3rd Party Sites) Ebay, Carsales etc..
gav240z replied to gav240z's topic in Cars For Sale
I tend to agree mate, overpriced considering the condition its in. It probably has more rust than the description states also. A few years ago there would be no way you could ask more than $2k for a car like this. I will be very interested to see how the car at Shannons auctions goes, because that's a car that's worth the extra penny and it should set a price for what an original, unmolested 240z is worth. I think this guy would be lucky to get $5k for this project. However you never know right? -

Yeah man, that's cheap if you ask me. Especially in EURO . Although if I brought it to the Emerald Isle I'd have to pay friggin VAT on it I think. Then again its vintage so maybe not? -
Looks fantastic Ben, the C110 shape is so under appreciated really. I don't think it helped that the normal C110 rear wheel arch had the shape it did. With the flares its a massive improvement.

Rebuilt 260z gearbox, ideal for race application
gav240z replied to stevo_gj's topic in Parts and Tools for Sale
I'm very interested Steve, although I'll need to pay you to ship it to Melbourne. Is it a 260z 2 seater box? Either way my old 280zx box is a bit tired, leaks oil and probably could use a rebuild anyway. I don't mind it whining . -
Well technically I ask that whatever is being sold relates to Z-cars in some way or at least Datsun's. Or it should be of interest to our members in some way shape or form. The rule is slightly more flexible for long term members / posters. We obviously don't want our classifieds overrun with Commodore's or Volvo's. Remember they are free and if we find that all of a sudden we need to spend lots of time administrating / moderating them, we may need to start charging for them. If you are selling something not related to Z's, perhaps the best place is the Off Topic section of the site? A good rule of thumb is, if in doubt contact us first and we will give you the ok. I usually mention that you should write a note saying you have permission from Admins to post this article. Otherwise sometimes the Lurch monster deletes things, but remember he's only doing his job .

What you would like your Z to look like?
gav240z replied to Toecutter's topic in General Discussions
Awesome is probably not the word...but it sure is different. -
Wonder what VIN # it was? I love random bits of history like this. It would be funny to interview the guys involved like 30+ years later don't you think?

Doesn't get any better than that. Exactly what you are looking for.

I've see a few cars match this criteria over the years. In fact a nice blue 2+2 such as this was for sale a couple of years ago. It was going cheap at around $5k. RE: Vents the 260z went through a couple of changes over the years. The earlier 74-75 cars didn't have vents, the dashboard gauges used a different type-face and wiring set up and the door jambs had different locking mechanisms when compared with the 76 - 77 model cars. There are lots of other subtle differences in the years, but nothing too major other than that. The change over seems to co-inside with the introduction of the 280z series offered in the US (which had fuel injection). Although this was offered in 75 in the states. So it took another year before Australia noticed a change in the model. The only problem with the 260z's is the original intake equipment. Many owners have changed over to the British SU or Hitachi SU (240z style). This is due to issues related to the flat top carbs. Vapor lock is common (especially in Australian heat) and parts for the flat tops are difficult to source. Performance was also hurt. I understand you require an original vehicle though, so you may be willing to overlook this issue. You could always change over to Triples or 240Z SU's, and at resale time refit the original intake system etc.. Loads of 2+2's were fitted with Auto's especially in cars delivered to Australia. So depending on how important this item is to originality you may consider converting an Auto over. Price wise I think you should be able to find what you want for what Dimitri has stated, but you may get lucky and find a good car around the $7k mark. Its really just a game of patience, I'm sure you know judging by your collection of other cars. Also feel free to post some photos of your early Mazda's I'm a bit of a rotary fan myself . Oh and 1 other thing, the Air-Con never seems to work anyway. So you would have to rebuilt / fix this most likely.

Another example of "read between the lines" media. FWIW there is a Z in the end of it too just look at 3:46. I wonder if the owner is a member here? I disagree with their usage of race track footage trying to show how dangerous it is. If this is anything to go by, the Police are spending more time on youtube than out booking hoons haha.

I actually had Dale's Mustard Yellow 240z in mind, but I didn't want to automatically volunteer him. Dale if you are interested please let me know. -
Craig I do and don't agree with you. I agree with you because as a young male when I first started going clubbing and out to places like Chapel St or Crown Casino (sorry this is Melbourne), or even in Sydney city center on a Friday night I used to feel pretty un-safe even with my friends. You definitely see lots of fights, now I'm not saying you don't see the same thing in Ireland, because it happens here too. However there is definitely a lot of aggression amongst young men in Australia. I think a lot of it, has to do with a small group of minorities who think the law doesn't apply to them. Yes there are stabbings and all sorts of unsocial behavior. Unfortunately a lot of these same people happen to drive around in hotted up sedan's of (particular manufacturer's who will remain nameless because I don't won't to stereotype). So Police naturally feel that targeting this group of people will also prevent other crimes. Various studies show that by stopping smaller crimes often it helps prevent larger ones. You have to view it from both sides is what I'm getting at. Take this video on youtube as 1 example: I'm not saying Lebanese people are the problem here BTW. It can be anyone displaying this kind of attitude. Just look at the abuse they get, look through any of those related videos. You can see why all "hoons" get grouped under the 1 umbrella. The problem is Craig you are effectively doing the same thing to the Police by saying that all cops are bad or just pick on you for no reason. Sure I've been pulled over before. I recall 1 night I was pulled over in my 260z and the cop was just asking me standard questions to make sure I wasn't up to anything. My friend in the passenger seat started to get really agitated and upset. He was saying why are you picking on us for? I said to him just be calm and don't worry. The cop was asking my friend what his problem was, because I was calm they didn't hassle me, but because my friend was giving attitude he was pressing him further. Another time I was driving around (with no particular destination in mind), just because I wanted to drive. I saw a booze bus and I went past it several times on the other side of the road. As I went by I pushed the clutch in and gave the car a little rev. I went by maybe 3 times, till finally on the 3rd pass I decided to go through the booze bus. 1 of the cops came up and said I saw you going by and giving it a little rev. Then he decided to pull me to the side and inspect the car. He would have fined me too if he had the time, but they had to pack up and leave. Looking back I certainly deserved it, I was after all being a smart arse. On the way back from Mornington once I was speeding in the Z and got pulled over. I knew I was in the wrong. I didn't try and lie my way out of it. Sorry officer I didn't know etc.. Instead I took it on the chin and he said to me. I'd be careful with that exhaust as I'm tipping its over the limit. He didn't fine me, though had I been a smart arse hey may have considered it. Now I don't usually wear a skirt or show cleavage, unless I'm pretty drunk that is . So I don't think it has to do with that. Of course there will be times where you get a Cop who has had a bad day or just wants to book you for the sake of it. They are human and imperfect like us. Likewise some are on a power trip and abuse that power. However you have to keep in mind these guys see bad accidents with young males wrapped around poles, trees and other crap. I'm sure many don't sleep well at night because of it. Driving a hotted up car is like a red flag to a bull. You should expect more Police attention than if you were in a sleeper (hence the term sleeper because nobody expects it). Complaining about it, is like when women dress up and wear revealing clothes then whinge about getting wolf whistled at. It goes with the territory is what I'm saying. I guess at the end of the day, the Police are there to serve and protect, however that means sometimes they have to lay down the law too. That also means you will sometimes be unlucky and get a random pull over and check done. If you want to really blame someone, blame the media. They are always looking for a way to sensationalise a story it gets viewers for their program, it gets pensioners up in arms and it turns the community on car enthusiasts. Likewise if the media is constantly reporting car hooning and showing young men wrapped around trees Police will crack down because the community is demanding it. And finally to end this friendly discussion I want to ask the question. What is the difference between "regular hoon drivers" and "non-regular"? Is it like unleaded vs leaded?

Looking the goods Rev, what colour are you going to go with on this 1? Or is it secret for now?
