Odd situation with sale of a UK 1975 260z !
gav240z replied to uktowners's topic in General Discussions
Give it a bit of time I say, if his IP address returned somewhere in Nigeria he would have been blocked and banned and IP banned from the server. However it still remains to be seen what this guy is on about. -
The Brown Hornet - as NEW 1971 240Z - SOLD
gav240z replied to acf321's topic in Members Project(s) Journal
Looks amazing, I'm sure you are really happy with it. I like the period colour and I think its going to look really good when you get it together with Watanabe's and the L24 in there . I was wondering where you were due to no updates, now I know. -
Odd situation with sale of a UK 1975 260z !
gav240z replied to uktowners's topic in General Discussions
I'll agree with the others it just doesn't add up. You have purchased the car, its on its way to your place and now you have a wedding to pay for so you want to sell it again? Why does it matter if it goes abroad? As oppose to stay in the UK? Why send it to Australia which is so far away, when you could send it anywhere else in Europe say like Ireland? There are some people over in Ireland looking to get into a Z and its so close. First of all the car is worth more in the UK and Ireland than in Australia. In Australia the cars are vastly under valued when compared with the rest of the world. The 2+2 has 4 seats, so if you have back seats in your Z then its obviously not a 2 seater. Bought it blind, but you know its complete? Please do post pictures. Paul I hope you can see why our forum members are skeptical to say the least. Please be aware when you use this website or any other website for that matter your IP address is recorded and on this site logged. If we have any reason to suspect this may be a scam I'll have no qualms about notifying your ISP. I have verified that your Ip address appears to be from Great Britain so at least so far, you appear genuine. -

Quick reminder to anyone considering having their car on the homepage.

gotta be careful about people reading this out of context Lurch . I'm sure he has a very good reason.

Cool, if I was you I'd be doing the same thing mate. I miss Australian Summers and the beach. We just had a blizzard in Dublin . I'm trying to get 1 new ride on the homepage each month. So I keep bumping to topic to keep it at the top of people's minds.
-
Just a reminder everyone I want to get a member ride on the homepage for January and time is running out. So if you haven't submitted your details. http://www.viczcar.com/member-rides/submit-your-ride Before submitting I suggest writing everything in a word doc so you don't loose the information if there is a form submission error. If you have problems with the form please let me know. Alternatively if you want to just email me the details and I can put it together in a formal format for you I'm happy to do that. Be sure to include a few high quality photos and describe any major modifications you have made.

*I think* the NA camshaft are the non-internally oiled cams. My Schneider cam needs to use the oiler bar (the older style of camshaft lubrication). I'm guessing the FI is on the newer heads where the cams are internally oiled. From memory you can interchange cams between heads without too much headache. Eg: You can use the oiler bar cam on a later head like N42 / P90 by installing the oiler bar.

Hi Mate, Change of plan. New link is here: http://www.viczcar.com/member-rides/submit-your-ride

This site has been around for years, but was originally hosted on Geocities which for those who don't know closed recently. Today I found the same site had moved to here: http://datsunzgarage.com/ A really great resource especially for those considering engine swaps, just read his performance mods section and 1/4 mile times. Its also had some recent updates so worth going over again. Each time I read this site I feel I learn something new all over again.

Same boat as you mate, I'm an Aussie living in Ireland. I never get to drive mine . I'm thinking I might try and get her onto CH plates so my mum can take her for a spin from time to time. She always wanted a 240z and remembers being at the Datsun dealership when her folks bought a 200B and thinking how she would love to get a 240z. Just worried my mum might get a yellow canary driving it cause the exhaust is so loud lol... that would be something to see. So are you fluent in Japanese? I was considering moving to Japan to teach English like a friend of mine did. Would love to visit Japan and see it, have traveled to so many places in Europe but only Thailand in Asia. Anyway welcome again. Feel free to upload pics of your pride and joy for us Z perverts.

Hi Pantah, Are you from Australia orginally and living and working in Japan or did you buy a 240z from Australia and haven't sent it over yet? Welcome to the site and forum.

gav240z replied to chev z's topic in General Discussions
I would be happy to do a follow up article once I receive the information from Mike *hint hint*. Actually we have slipped up a bit in recent updates for members rides, I have a few people who have offered to put together the details, but have been caught up (myself included). So just a reminder to anyone who would like their car featured that I'd be happy to hear from you. -
Was this an email sent to you via our forum or through another source? If it is from a user on this forum please tell me their username and I can track them via IP address and usually block them from accessing the site completely. I have 0 tolerance for this kind of scum. This is also why our classifieds section has a warning sticky post about this kind of behavior. The bottom line is, if it sounds dodgy or suspicious it almost always is. There is no point responding to these guys. The best thing to do is report it to the service or website they contacted you via.

Same here, I wonder what his reserve is. I know its listed on Aussie Musclecar for close to $30,000 but I wonder if that's what he's hoping to get? Looks like a great buy either way. -
Cool video from JCCS this year I think http://videos.streetfire.net/video/Classic-Japanese-Iron-on_715775.htm

Rev if you get absolutely desperate let me know I've recently bought 3 240z tail lights that I was planning to keep the best set then refurbish / polish / restore and possibly sell on. I don't think they have arrived at my folks place yet, but as I say let me know if you get desperate for a set and I might be able to help out.

Why did he pull you over Craig? I would understand if you were doing something silly, but pulling you over and deciding to give you a yellow ticket just for the sake of doing so is pretty rough. I mean there is a difference between a guy taking his pride and joy out and is a genuine enthusiast with a classic vehicle and your typical "hoon" who was doing something silly to get pulled over. Luckily in my 240z I've never been hassled, but this is also why I like the idea of a warm L28, you can get away with the "stock look" .

Interesting point Nzeder, I was under the impression that Scarab Z's were sold by an external company and not through dealers though? I'm probably wrong, the only reference to this I have is in Brian Long's book. However it seems to mention that the cars left Scarab Performance works. If you were able to register a vehicle in this way, certainly it would be eligible for racing like this would it not?

Hey George it looks good so far but.... There are many car blogs, how is yours going to be different? What are your blogging goals? Do you want to attract a crowd of loyal readers? Do you want to advertise and make some money from it? Do you just love writing? How often do you plan to blog? Do you have specific topics you want to cover? I know your an avid photographer, I always enjoy looking at automotive photographers websites personally. Blogs need an angle, a hook, a theme to attract repeat visitors. They also require lots of time. Not trying to put you off or anything just adding some things to consider.
