I like the idea, but I kind of liken it to Brock's polarizer. I want to see proven results of this working is all I'm saying. I personally would feel alot safer with good old Fish Oil or similar products .

Would you like some swiss cheese with that 240z? http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C147356/ Yes it's not in Australia, and yes I've been looking over here in Ireland haha. Guilty in the first degree . -
Nice work Rev, starting to really come together. Can't wait to see it finished.

Hi Eden, Welcome to the forum, I'm actually living overseas right at the moment and I'm trying to find FD3S Mazda RX-7 myself and having the same kind of luck as you. . I have a 240z at home in my parents garage for my return. Would love to know your thoughts on an RX-7 pro's and con's of ownership and if you think they are a good car or not? In return I'm happy to give you pointers on anything related to 240z's, since I have plenty of knowledge of those .

In keeping with the recent "Some moron crashed into my Zed" theme.

Man I totally understand how you feel. I've had it happen twice when I used to be a student working at a video store. Those 4WD mum's dented my car twice (no note!!!). Like I had the money to fix it as a student. Still gives me rage thinking about it. Then my clumsy step father didn't fasten the garage lights properly and 1 fell and left a right big scratch down the side of my Z. I was fuming to say the least. Not because it happened so much, but because it was easily preventable and it was ultimately his laziness that lead to it happening. Can you tell I'm glad I don't live at home anymore? So I totally understand how you feel, what would you give to have been there when it happened and catch the person as they are driving off? On the bright side, it could have been far worse and it looks fairly minor. Makes you wonder if a $40,000 restoration is worth all the bloody sweat and tears doesn't it? -
240z and 260z's on the market all of a sudden?
gav240z replied to gav240z's topic in General Discussions
I think part of the reason it's easier to find these cars now is definitely the interwebs, (I used to only check the tradingpost in Victoria). Now you can see cars for sale all over Australia, not to mention NZ also (trademe) . However even so, lately so many nice examples have popped up, cars that were never for sale before. Or at least changed hands without me knowing about it. Perhaps these cars used to stay in car clubs? Or maybe in the last 10 years many more have been restored and now owners have had their fun and need a new toy? I don't know what it is, but it seems like what was once a rare find is now relatively easy to obtain, for the right money of course! -
So this is just a general observation, but it seems as of late there has been a flood of 240z / 260z cars on the market. I recall in 1998 when I was looking for a 240z, I would check the local paper and never see a 240z for sale. Now it seems many are coming out of the woodwork. I'm wondering where they have all been hiding all these years. Are people cashing in on their recent increase in value? I used to think these cars were rare, now I'm not so sure. Is there anything else funny going on in the Australian market right now around classic and vintage cars?

That 1 didn't last long on the market. Well done, looks like you snagged a good 1. Didn't you have a red 260z 2 seater if I recall? Maybe I'm getting mixed up with another user though. So what's the plan for it? -

Merged threads with (non ebay) thread. Makes sense to keep all 3rd party ads in the 1 place. -

240z for sale on Ebay http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Car-Datsun-240Z-1973-Silver-Black-Coupe_W0QQitemZ300416539531QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_Cars Asking $10,500. Looks nice and original at least. Make a good project for someone. -

Only way to get them is to try mate. Learn as you go, look at RevZed. It's better to give it a go and make a mess of it, than not try at all. You can always get help from the friendly forum members who have been there, done that so to speak. There is nothing like the feeling of having done the job yourself. Not to mention that finding a good mechanic / body shop is a challenge in itself. -
No problems guys, thanks for the donation again. I'm going to look into some options for donating members = less advertising and non donating members get more ads etc.. Right now for every $1 we earn from advertising $0.25 cents of it comes from members who sign into the site. So 1 to 4 ratio. So it makes sense to look into an option like that. Another reason to go the advertising route is that I don't like asking people for donations.

Advertising Experiment - Your Thoughts?
gav240z replied to gav240z's topic in Website Feedback & Club Discussions
Yes I've seen that also, I think its a good idea and good incentive for people to become paying members. I will definitely look into it and see if its possible with the current software. Good question and no I'd never place advertising on the site that uses pop's up, creates spoof system warnings or introduces spyware etc.. I'm using Google Adsense which has a strict policy on this kind of thing. So you should be safe from anything like that. -
Hi Everyone, In an attempt to earn more revenue from Advertising and help with our hosting costs I am thinking about placing ads in other parts of the forum. Those of you familiar with other forums will know what I'm talking about, but I am considering the following: Placing ads between user posts Placing ads at the bottom of the forum Or a combination of the 2. I may also experiment with other advertising ideas. Why am I considering this? 1. Donations are great, but they are not consistent month on month. Donations + current advertising doesn't cover hosting costs. 2. Done right, we may be able to drop the plea for donations completely (as in hosting costs would be covered). I am anticipating some of you won't like this, so I wanted to get your feedback before trying any of this out. What may interest some of you is that we generate far more advertising revenue from the casual visitor to auszcar.com than existing members. So please let me know if you have any concerns, objections or general feedback on the idea.

Got this in my mail today, it came through here.

If I was in charge of those websites, I would definitely be doing my best to tackle that issue. I'm sure its harming their business as a result. I hate spammers, but honestly the only reason they do it, is because there is a lot of money to be made from it. A lot of the time it comes from 3rd world countries where scamming $5000 out of someone is a very healthy profit. My g/f works for Western Union and they have all kinds of scams going on all the time. I hate it with a passion too, the best way to tackle it is to make it extremely difficult for them (you can never prevent it all) and they will more than likely look for the easier options. The forum currently has a PM message flood limit so hopefully that will help reduce any PM spam members get, but please do let me know if you guys get any kind of spam through this website and I will do my best to look into it. -

Hmm there was a couple of members with nina in their name who registered on the site with a German IP address. I've removed this user and blocked the IP address from further access to the site. -
By the way those Gauges look good, almost identical to the original ones (at least the Speedo and Tacho). What are they and where did you get them?
-
Great work, the car looks great. Did you keep the original running gear for the "just in case" scenario?

I've been contacted a few times by people in Kuwait wanting to buy my 240z. I do know that someone who had restored a 240K sold it (or at least I believe) to someone in Dubai. Datsun's are very popular over there, especially the old 240K's for some reason.
