  1. Just to go off topic for a second, but Shaun I really like the minimalist design you've gone for with your blog. I think when the time comes to update this site it should follow a similar design philosophy.
  2. If you can't find 1 local I imported 1 from the US on eBay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-72-73-240z-OEM-Complete-Manual-Console-280z-/261240037458
  3. I'm actually glad you sold those wheels, I was thinking of banks to rob to get them myself and to be honest I still don't know if i can murder my guards for flares.
  4. I think Dimitri is good with electrics. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=801 Hopefully he can give you some ideas... I'm a total dunce with electrics also. Although willing to learn.
  5. Logic unfortunately still doesn't stop someone from trying to flog something I'm afraid. If you recall not that long ago someone stole parts from a well known member on here (and was later caught) and those were very unique parts which would be easy to trace back. So even if they know their way around R31s and even if it doesn't make sense to steal it, it won't stop fools from doing it.
  6. It's actually amazing, I saw a pic on the net of a nice skyline with awesome wheels and in the background I could see a sign for a local shop. I looked up the shop on Google and found the address, then using streetview I could go to the exact location the photo was taken. So you can just imagine what information can be pieced together if someone wanted to find where someone lives (or at least the area).
  7. dat240z - I've removed the list of things you've done to protect your car as you just NEVER know mate. It's best to make it as hard as possible. So why R31s? Are parts getting dear for them? Is it that they are easy to steal and easy to flog? I would be checking eBay also. Never know they might just be dumb enough. Also check Gumtree regularly. . Unfortunately if they are sending them off to someone in the middle-east or some exotic other destination in a container it might be harder to find and catch these jerks.
  8. Oh man I can only say I know how it feels and it still pisses me off when I think about what they did to mine. That's a unique r31 and not something easily replaced. I hope he gets it back and can save it again. Did it have any security fitted?
  9. 240z 2 seater for $5k on Carsales. http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Datsun-240Z-1973/SSE-AD-2194975/?Cr=2 and it will be gone... sooon.
  10. Cheap 2+2 looks ok. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/clarkson/cars-vans-utes/1976-datsun-260z-coupe-all-fixed-up-/1022157144
  11. I have a business proposition for you Dave, let's import some tidy 240z/260z 2 seaters from the states and fix them up and sell them on for profit. Wheeler Dealers style...We can start with this 1. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-Z-Series-240-z-1971-series-1-vin-12002-manufactured-10-70-unmolested-rustfree-matching-s-/151069662953 I am of course kidding, or am I? . I honestly don't think the values of Zeds is high enough yet to do this, but at some point in the future who knows? On the positive side of things, he's making more and more cars available to the community with each new build. I can understand this though, I'm sure most of us would have 10 different Zeds if we could all built to different spec, well that's what Dave is doing. He just isn't keeping any of them.
  12. Triple Mikuni 44s on eBay US http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=181160684669
  13. 240K coupe on eBay KHGC110 Photos http://s971.photobucket.com/user/SanitoraOtaku/library/240K%20coupe?sort=3&src=wap&page=1 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Datsun-240k-GL-1974-2D-Hardtop-3-SP-Automatic-2-4L-Carb-KHGC110-kenmeri-/261233482780 Asking 12k unfinished project. 10-15 years back you couldn't give them away .
  14. By the way congrats on the little 1 also.
  15. It's funny a mate's dad had a 200B we used to rag on it quite a bit, but in hindsight they are becoming retro cool now along with lots of other old J-tin, I like it. It's amazing how clean it is mate. I've always like the 180B coupe's, I mean who am I kidding actually. I like all the old Datsun models, especially the quirky coupe shapes.
  16. If I didn't already want a V8 muscle car, I now want 1 even more! Although I like rotary vs V8 rivalry and I'd rather be on the rotor side of that debate .
  17. What a great looking car, would really suit someone looking to do light restoration and just bring it to the next level. Love the hubcaps but would probably store them away in favour of some nice period correct rims.
  18. LOL @ the Mick was here image. Classic. Mick is a true artist with panel work. As they say in Ireland fair play!
  19. What others above have said is correct and I think although we may have got off to a rough start here Martin I think you'll find that once you get to know this 'clicky' bunch, we're actually on your side and in most cases helpful;). You see we are a relatively small community of enthusiasts who have been into these cars for a long time, as mentioned above. For a long time we have been told zeds will never be valuable, but we are seeing a modest surge in their values and interest in the marque in the last few years, thanks probably to video games, movies, and websites like SpeedHunters bringing this car to a new generation. So every so often someone comes on here posts an ad that says I want X for X amount and the long term people are thinking to themselves "pick a number and get in line". Now I don't condem anyone for looking for a bargain and $4-5k for a rolling shell is actually quite a lot of money for a car like that, when you consider what $5k can buy. So no harm in trying, but I think you'll need to be very quick or very lucky to get what you're after. However hopefully you can prove us wrong and you'll start a build thread so we can all see your progress . Welcome to the community.
  20. Hi Peter, When does the next course start? It looks like I'll be in Sydney around the 19th of August.
  21. Several things about this ad make me laugh. 1. They took the time to photoshop the images. 2. Not exactly what I would call a motivated seller. You want it, come get it is what the ad text says. 3. Buy it now says 1 price, but ad says all sorts of other prices. 4. It's listed cheap and yet they don't want to know about any sort of ridiculous offers. Then again someone will probably offer them $200 for it. RE #4 it's similar to the typical please no tyre kickers or time wasters. I always wonder do tyre kickers or time wasters read that text and go "Oh better not call him then, I'm just a dreamer with no money after all..."?
  22. Sounds awesome, man I really got to make an effort to learn Japanese.
  23. X3 I like the standard body lines.
  24. Peter thanks for the donation that was nice of you to do, and glad the car worked out for both parties.
  25. So you're telling me that area was basically bogged over with nothing underneath? That's pretty shocking really.
