  1. Dont' say that too loud, all the North American blokes will be banging down our door to get AUDM tail lights.
  2. Some other cool datsun's .
  3. I do like the interior/exterior colour combo. He's just a young fella with much to learn, I'm sure those wheels have been sold to someone with a VL commodore now anyway .
  4. Think this is in Hungary somewhere, really cool looking 260z.
  5. I would only care about such things if I was restoring a car for posterity like placing it in a museum. However if you want to own a practical classic then I don't worry about these things.
  6. @Thriller - FYI most 2+2 interior trim parts won't fit a 2 seater.
  7. Lol nice spin dude. I've never even been on a proper track though so I can't talk.
  8. That silver 240z is amazing. Really shows how beautiful the standard car is. If only more were like that.
  9. Hey Cooper, how about this Z? http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/port-kennedy/cars-vans-utes/nissan-260z-1975/1015899783 It's not 100% original but it looks tidy. It's a bit higher than your budget, but that's the kind of car I would look for. Tidy, not 100% original but could be slowly improved over time while being able to drive and enjoy it.
  10. That's why I say be prepared to extend you budget a bit more. There is going to be lots of hidden costs getting something on the road. So it's best to buy the best car you can that is registered and roadworthy certificate supplied etc... Even if a car looks roadworthy there will inevitably be lots of little bits that add up. I forgot about stamp duty on vehicle ownership transfer since those don't do it over here in Ireland. However they have other taxes than I'm sure more than make up for it.
  11. What was the 1.1k to Vicroads for? Surely registration is not that much in Australia now is it? You got very lucky so I think everyone is envious of your bargain. But after all the work you did on the 2+2 I think you deserved it to be honest.
  12. Oh no, that's really sad to see. Heart breaker.
  13. Looks like a good deal if you can get them for that price. However in my experienced and very pessimistic opinion is you'll easily spend more than $5000 by the time you get this on the road and registered. I know you were looking for a budget around that price. So just want to let you know that's where you'll be if not higher costs. You'll always save money buying the best condition car your budget can afford. If you see a car for 1-2k less and you think you can get it to the standard of a slightly higher priced car on the market that has lots of work done to it. You'll soon realise the slightly more expensive car was the better buy. For example: Car A - Rough around the edges and needing some tidy up, asking price = $5000 Car B - Very clean, lots of money spent, little to do, asking price =$7000 Car B will almost always be better value, but it will also depend on your goals and what's important to you etc.. Food for thought...
  14. An Estonia Z-Car enthusiast put together this interesting tale.
  15. Good idea, might look into it.

    Looking for a P90

I had a P90 then I took an arrow to the knee... In all seriousness though I did have 1 but a certain mechanic ran off with my money which was going to be put into engine head work and when I called the guys about it they said he never gave them the money. I'm going to call the workshop and see if they by some miracle still have it, maybe offer them some money for storage fees and pay them some cash to courier it to my folks place. These seems to be getting harder to find.
  17. 10-12 years ago my mates all loved 180sx, Silvia's, R33's, 300zx's etc.. They thought the Z was cool and enjoyed driving them but nobody had any interest at all in fixing up a rusty old Datsun. Too much effort etc.. They just wanted the go fast now car. Whilst I did like the shape of the 180sx I could never like the interior of them, I just found the dashboard so bland. Perhaps the appeal is it's a blank canvas? But for me I just liked everything about the 60s and early 70s in terms of car design. For me the 240z has always felt like the next best thing to owning an old 60s Ferrari. I guess the best thing about these cars is that their values go up and as they get older more and more people appreciate them, I'm glad I've hung onto mine all these years. All my mates have changed cars (several times) going for the next big power upgrade and taking out loans to buy them etc.. My car might be taking an eternity to restore but good things come to those with patience I say. The internet has also helped fuel interest in vintage Japanese cars I think with sits like SpeedHunters and the car culture behind it, have helped move these cars from being under appreciated to getting some much more deserved attention. Although in my mind compared to other cars out there they are still under-valued. Hope you enjoy the hunt for yours, I still recall my first experience in a 240z.
  18. With you around apparently he's not . I hate it when I do stuff like this, it irks me. Hopefully it will all be sorted by the old man and looking good for the Nationals. Hope you guys have a great time, shame I can't be there.
  19. We want photos! Welcome.
  20. Evan I still remember going with you to check out your 260z, in fairness you got a great car. I recall some door rust but man think about the fact that you paid 5K for a 260z 2 seater and structurally there was hardly anything to worry about. It was very original and you've got lots of use out of it. Gone are the days when you can find a Z like that at that money though...The same kind of car now would be 16K I reakon.
  21. I'll take you up on that offer mate, always like having a big Z background on my PC at work.
  22. Very well Cooper, I don't think anyone would have talked me out of buying an S30Z as my first car either. However that 1 you posted on Gumtree looks like it might be hiding a bit of rust. So be careful. My advice buy the 1 with the least amount of rust possible. As stated, it will save you grief. If you're willing to learn a Zcar is a great place to hone automotive skills and you can't mess too much up .
  23. I know the Lime Green didn't come on a 260z, it was a 240z colour but it's seriously 1 favourite S30Z original colours and I think it would look fine on a 260z.
  24. Green all the way, never liked Brown on Zs, safari gold yes but brown? No.
