  1. 260z 2+2 rear tail light beaver section (upper) http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/nissan/exterior/auction-991555963.htm Might be useful for people restoring a 2+2?
  2. It makes you wonder why they persisted with the 260z (L26) until 1978 here if they had all those emissions problems at home and decided against it and the flat top carbs on 73 240z's in the US and 74-78 model 260z's in Australia are much loathed for those reasons also. I guess emissions were not as critical in Australia? Might also explain why the 260z disappeared after 1 year in the US, given California's strict laws on emissions. Alan any particular reason why they named them Fairlady Z 2/2's and not 2+2's like the rest of the world in Japan? Is it a translation thing? As a side note it always annoys me when people denote them as 2X2's. Irks me for some reason. I have a magazine somewhere with a prototype or pre-productions Fairlady 260ZG 2/2, I might dig it out and scan it in if I get a chance. Can you clarify something for me related to the home market? In 1974 was a Fairlady Z ('kouki' model) still stamped as S30 or S31? My understanding is that they were S30's and then when fuel injection was introduced (L20AE) perhaps in 75/76 they went with S31 prefix? So earlier S30z's in Japan had the same dashboard and tail lights as our market 240z. 'Zenki'. Mid year cars with different dash / tail lights and L20A could be thought of as 'chuki' and later S31's with fuel injection can be thought of as 'kouki' models? Or am I just confusing things further?
  3. As in Fairlady 240Z-L ? The L stands for luxury. You got a power antenna, passenger foot rest, rally clock etc..
  4. It was all a bit irrelevant wasn't it? But just goes to show the popularity of the S30Z they have had a lot of content featuring an S30.
  5. Craig is correct, the Fairlady 240Z-L is quite rare, as most opted for the homologation special with the G-nose extension and fender flares. The Fairlady 240Z-L and Fairlady 240ZG were introduced in 1971, the home market didn't get the 2.4ltr until a year after export markets. My knowledge of later cars isn't great (S130Z's), but I believe in Japan the 2.8ltr arrived with the Fairlady 280z.
  6. HS30 00308 here. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/12740-new-member/ Almost forgot about that car and it's temporary owner . *Edit more photos here: http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/13013-1970-240z-for-sale/
  7. About 20 seconds in, he says this is George Fury. Good to see some rotors on the gravel and some cool old Datsun's.
  8. Awesome, strange how the ECU just died like that? I really thought it was something else.
  9. This will be interesting.. http://www.ebay.com/itm/181947508492 Starting bid: US $20,000.00 HLS30 00064 Bold emphasis is mine... As you can see they (North American's) tend it ignore other chassis prefix cars like S30, HS30, PS30 etc..
  10. Not videos but great photos of East African Classic Safari Rally 2015 https://www.facebook.com/geoff.mayes/media_set?set=a.10156254926580463.1073741847.554250462 Good video of an angry L-GATA here also. https://www.facebook.com/biashton/videos/10208050957332124/
  11. Yeah a 3.1ltr from a L24 block is awesome, what crank are you using? LD28? Or RB30? or is it the L28 crank? I am going with a similar idea for my Safari Gold car, L24 block with E31 head (re-welded chambers), not sure I'll go stroker yet. Keeping mine on a tight budget.
  12. Yes must know more lol...
  13. Thanks for the update, looks like your car is HS30 00347. If you haven't seen this thread or been on the site in a while: http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/13773-early-girl-bingo-with-photos/page-1 You might find it insightful.
  14. Not many very rare already to find a JC Cosmo, let alone 1 with a 20B in it. I saw 1 many moons ago at Albert Park, maybe around year 2000. Not seen another on the road here. There was 2 in Ireland that I knew of. A couple in the UK etc.. I don't think many exist outside of Japan in general.
  15. Thanks for trying mate.
  16. LOL @ the lower fender section. It's actually not that bad compared to what i've seen, why weld when you can super glue eh? You can order that section from Rare Spares or just fabricate it, 1 of the easier sections to fix. The roof will be the trickiest section to repair.
  17. All part of the learning experience mate, it's just how it is with these cars or any classic car really. That's why a "properly" restored 240z is worth good money to the right person. Because from experience we know the difference between a quick fix and a proper restoration. I still think you got a good car for the money you paid for it and it could be a whole lot worse. Expect to find a few more spots here and there, but honestly the body doesn't look that bad so far.
  18. Still can't get in contact with him, anybody seen him or heard from him?
  19. Ummm that is a good body on an S30z lol...Sugar scoops are dirt cheap to replace compared with other panels. So I wouldn't be too worried about that. It also explains why the paint wasn't good on those areas. Is that last photo the lower valance at the front? People get awfully creative with bog. It always makes me wonder, using a hammer and dolly isn't that hard after all.. Front end looks very straight, I'd be happy about that!
  20. I recall a bloke telling me he used to buy them for a couple hundred dollars (Coupe's) because they were only valuable for scrap to junk yards. This was about 2006, he told me he couldn't find them anymore back then! I know the feeling, I still recall an FD RX-7 (Series 7) in red flying past me on the way to school (mum was driving a Tarago) and I had just bought my first 240z. It was an 80-90K car back then (1998) and I thought man that's a cool car. But I'll never be able to afford 1. Finally bought my FD in 2010, So I guess it works both ways in terms of affordability . In 20 years time people will be talking about Nissan Stagea wagon's being cheap or something...
  21. Mitsubishi distributor for L-GATA 6. http://page19.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/x427349712 More info here: http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/606-mitsubishi-distributor-for-l-series-engine-electronic/ I recently bought another of these for myself. Yahoo! link here. (Part no. 22100-Y6810) Although the part no. for this auction is a bit different. (Part no. 22100-P6510) - they look almost identical. These are well engineered bit of kit, better than the common unit swapped over to most early S30z's. A google search for these part no.s reveals a couple of Nissan part websites that list it at $350 USD new, but I doubt they would still be able to source these new.... If you ever pull these apart it's immediately obvious that they are made better than the E12-80 Hitachi units.
  22. Bit of a topic revival, but I managed to find another 1 of these in Japan recently. The part no. is stamped in the distributor body. 22100-Y6810 I've also seen a similar distributor but different part no. 22100-P6510 These are better than the run of the mill Hitachi units E12-80 module based distributors.
  23. Final payment received. Sold.
  24. If it helps, I have a set of what I believe are original carpets in my car (HS30 00150), I would be willing to lend them out to have them copied. Provided it can be guarantee'd they will be returned. I'm not 100% sure they are original, but I suspect they are.
  25. Another 240K coupe http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/cleve/cars-vans-utes/1976-datsun-240k-coupe/1094777231 Located in South Australia $10,000.00
