Hey Ian, Part of the issue with valuing these cars at the moment is there are so few comparable cars on the market to gauge against. Also values over the last 12 months have increased so comparing sale prices for 2019 and earlier is a bit moot. That's part of the reason I maintain the 2 big sales threads. Since it helps everyone gauge what the market is doing and what cars are available and at what price. Local sales. Global Market I could give you a very rough guide based on what I've seen and you've described so far, and if the body is sound. I'd say the car is probably in the $40-50k AUD range as it sits. But of course that's just from the photos I can see and description. An in person evaluation is really the only true way to know. It also depends how quickly you want to sell vs how long you're willing to wait for the right buyer as to where you should price it. If you were to spend a bit of money cleaning it up and getting it road worthy and ready as a turn key car, that will increase its sales value to a degree. But of course how much you spend vs what your return on that money is something to consider.

I would love to learn more about how many Z's were in Papua New Guinea and if you know of anyone still over there who would be involved with them? I've never really heard from folks in PNG with regards to owning Z's etc.. we know a few cars made their way to Australia but usually we've found this out via things like Glovebox markings. Have a read of this thread and perhaps post a photo fo your glovebox for interest sake?

Have they actually made a post or just seen them sign up? First post is always reviewed by me for each new members. I immediately block them if they try advertising sensual Thai massage with happy endings. But they may sign up (unverified members). Every so often I'll purge em in bulk. The reason they sign up is to post links back to websites using keywords to try and influence Google search results. It's a form of digital grafitti. Often outsourced to cheap labour in places like India. (When using manual methods). Since auto ones are usually caught by the software. If you see anything dodgy getting posted hit the report post link and I'll get a notification to swat it.

I collected an E30 head a couple of years ago. Have to check I still have it in storage and its condition. I can't recall where it is, after my Sydney to Melbourne move. If you get desperate I might be persuaded to part with it.

Removed already, think it might be the last chassis no. 240z in the HS30 registry too. Same area and garage photo but a blue guard now fitted.

If you have photos of what you've done I'd be keen to see it. I thought about hooking it up, but I actually think investing in an electric fuel pump would make things easier. Since when a 240z has been sitting with the mechanical pump the fuel flows back to the tank and you need to crank for a while to get the fuel into the carbs again.

I love getting back a box of replated bolts, it's like jewellery for car guys!

To clarify those videos are not mine, but someone else's on the internet showing an example. I went with Triple Mikuni 44's on my 72 240z, which IMHO totally transformed the way the car drives and feels. I love the Triples, from the induction noise to the throttle response and overall feel, it's much nicer than when the car was on SUs. The SUs were good for the cold start choke, but I find the Triples are not that hard to start and I haven't really hooked up the chokes (it seems nobody does). Since you have the accelerator pumps which squirt fuel in if you press the throttle.

I don't think it's particularly over priced. Of course I'm biased having a couple of early cars. But reasons to be bullish on prices of these cars. 1. Early cars are highly coveted and only getting more difficult to obtain. 2. RHD examples are much rarer than LHD cars. Especially early ones. 3. 907 Green is relatively rare. 4. Matching no.s engine available (not many still have matching engines) 5. Labor costs and expertise to restore these cars is going up and getting harder to find over time. 6. Interest rates are 0. Money in the bank is doing nothing. Assets are inflating. 7. Car like this in Japan is basically priced at this level if not more money. 8. C10 Skylines (non GTR) are fetching this sort of money no issues. I love the Skylines also, but the Z is far prettier. 9. Some early parts are getting hard to find now. 10. If you compare Z's with other cars of the same period they are still IMHO undervalued vs other (IMHO inferior models). But that's collector car market for you.
