  1. 2 best "240z's" in New Zealand lol.. and neither is a 240z...
  2. So just looking for my annual update on this thing, any progress?
  3. Well done, also interesting is that the 280zx I referred to earlier looks to have sold. Wonder what price it got?
  4. Ain't that the truth.. as Joseph Goebbels once said "If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it." By the way looks like your book arrived at work today, I was working from home so haven't got it in hand yet, but look forward to the read.
  5. Triple SK carbs (only 40mm though). http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/57502-sk-oer-triple-carbs/ Price: $800 USD
  6. When I bought Gareth's wheel it came with the Z horn button but I actually like the "Datsun" version more.
  7. Hey Bleach, I recall your posts on Classiczcars.com years ago. Surprised you sold it! haha. It looks like you sorted most of the rust issues.
  8. On carbs like weber / mikuni generally a pump that produces 3-4 psi of pressure coupled with a fuel pressure regulator. I believe the standard mechanical pump is capable of this but I've yet to test it fully.
  9. Hopefully also learning how not to do things . I have made a lot of mistakes along the way which next time (and I'm sure there will be a next time) I hopefully won't make. But as my first Tafe teacher said to me, "a man who never made a mistake, never made anything."
  10. http://bringatrailer.com/listing/1970-datsun-240z-13/ 31K-Mile 1970 Datsun 240Z Build date 5/1970 Already at $26,000 USD and 6 days to go.
  11. Thanks I'll chat to Vince soon, he's still got the engine block for #51 and I have to get it to Melbourne at some point. Unless someone else is desperate for these now in Sydney?
  12. We're herd animals in a way and follow trends, if others want something and are willing to pay obscene gobs of money for something others start to want it also. How else do you explain the rise in Datsun 240K prices for example? I also think certain cars come back to being in vogue again, right now 80s cars are starting a resurgence in general, I think with TV shows like "Stranger Things" bringing back the 80s synth style music etc.. all that retro stuff comes back and with it icons of the era, as to weather or not these trends last is another question? I reckon even the Z31 (300zx's) will make a come back soon, we're already seeing 280zx's go that way, early Mazda RX-7s etc.. With regard to the SC 911's I think because all the other early air cooled Porsche's went up in value the next logical way to get in to what the early cars offered was the SC. In the same way that 2 seater S30Z's are rising in value and the 2+2's are starting to uptick also, it's because people want the experience of an early S30Z but maybe cannot afford to get in at the 2 seater entry point. In comparison to a Porsche I still find the S30Z prices reasonable to be honest. But the cost of some S30Z parts is getting up there lately. I just hope Nissan starts to reproduce some items like washer bottles and similar... paying $900 for 1 is insane.
  13. Added some photos of the rare elusive and mysterious P81 cylinder head.
  14. Only way to fix it, save to disk, open in Apple Preview (if on MAC) hit command + R twice (rotates by 90 degrees each time), hit save. Upload again.
  15. I hear that beer works wonders for getting things done. A slab might encourage someone to go look at it on your behalf. Perhaps post in the QLD section of the site? Best investment you can make before buying a car in my opinion. Especially if it's a member with good knowledge of where these things rust. I am envious of how straight that hood looks though! Gawd, spent ages trying to get mine looking that good.
  16. I just screw the knob onto the shaft (hehe) and align the map so it looks straight in position and glue it down when fitted to the car. By the way I hope everyone has received theirs by now?
  17. And get the right seats, rally clock, triple mikunis, datsun compe wheel and then and then and then and then.... headlight covers with chrome trim rings . It will never ever end. https://goo.gl/photos/w5nXv1ivAmWgS1jo9 PS: If you're serious about going red, I plan to trace out the sponsors etc.. and get the livery made up. I just can't decide on which Rally car I wish to emulate most. It's like picking a favorite child.
  18. Even better since I would use them on my red 72 240z which is in Melbourne. I'm not in a rush so perhaps next time I'm in Melbourne I can reach out to you about them?
  19. Hey Gordon, Was that photo taken here? https://goo.gl/maps/F6FTBGo1BbS2 Along Beach Road in Hampton?
  20. Fourways Engineering in the UK make them on demand I believe. http://fourways-engineering.co.uk/ From memory price was around 400GBP.
  21. Depends if you're name is Ali or Alan I suppose? In the middle-east they love 240K's.
  22. A number of reasons. 1. I wanted to go back to the stock look (so I removed the horrid looking modern JVC head unit and replaced it with an Hitachi OEM head unit). 2. The speakers worked fine in that position but I wanted the original panel in the rear. 3. The way I made the box meant that getting access to the spare wheel was difficult. It was also heavy (made of wood vs the plastic panel which is OEM) 4. I wasn't really using the radio most of the time in the car anyway. 5. I'm not that into car audio systems these days. The Doof Doof was never my thing.
  23. I made a box like the MSA 1 for my 72 240z, and ended up taking it out years later.
  24. Another 240K coupe https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/adelaide-cbd/cars-vans-utes/datsun-240k/1148052037 Asking: $15,000.00
