Hi everyone, After not owning a Datsun for around 17 years I’ve finally picked up a car I’ve always wanted - it’s a 1975 Datsun 260z 2+2 - and yes I’ve actually always preferred the 4 seat look! An added bonus now is that I have 4 young kids, so this means I can cruise with at least *some* of them in tow (we’ll need a roster system haha). The car itself needs some work before we talk about cruising. It’s been stored for a few years and I’ll need to find some time to look over all the fluids? New Petrol? battery? And plugs? (I assume) and then hopefully she starts up... I’ve heard the L28s are notoriously hardy after a long rest!? Any advice on where to go (mechanics or enthusiasts) for help would be much appreciated. Paying in cash, beer, pizza etc. Cheers, Alex1 point

I have been stalking this forum for years and have been admiring Z cars since I was a teenager in the 80's when older guys were buying them second hand. I would only dream of owning one. I'm sure it's a story repeated many times. I started looking for a 240Z over 5 years ago and even bought one only to be shafted by Gosford Car Museum taking my deposit and then selling it on me. I missed out on that same silver 240Z twice and after a few false starts and distractions, I ended up with 1973 240Z (113) manual #102924 with original delivery paperwork. In addition, there's a lovely Z32 NA manual in the collection with original 96,000kms and I inherited a 280ZX which looks good, drives great but a rust bucket underneath. Not sure what I'll do with the 280ZX yet as it is not feasible to repair for a RWC. Any suggestions? Might have to make space soon ….1 point

Hi guys, After a long search I finally picked up a 260z 2 seater around a month ago. The car is a 1974 build with 01/75 compliance. modifications include a L28 engine with n42 head, bored and stroked to 3ltrs with a mild street cam. 240z 3 screw carburetors, extractors and 2.5 inch exhaust, electronic ignition and a manual conversion with a 71C 5 speed. so far since owning the car it’s had a full once over by the Z shop in Burwood and a set of bumper rubbers installed and just has a few minor things needing to be addressed. At this stage the only plans I have are to return the tail light panel to its factory colour and put the car onto club rego. A bit about myself. I’m a 23 year old university student studying physiotherapy and the Z has been a long time dream for myself that I finally managed to save enough money for (even if it did mean downgrading the daily driver). I’ve always been into cars and I was that annoying 5 year old that could name every car that went past and my love for Japanese cars started around 10 years ago. The shape of the S30 was always a winner for me and while I’m no expert I like to get my hands dirty and learn as I go.1 point

Welcome. We bumped into each other at the Z Shop a few weeks back. Took some photos of your car.1 point

For most people in Australia there is not the spare cash to indulge on buying a fully restored S30 and probably not the interest in getting involved in a restoration given costs can blow out considerably due to hidden rust issues etc.1 point

Update: I've used stacked.co.jp to help ship a bonnet in from Japan. I would recommend them in terms of packaging and arrival here in Sydney. The only caveat is they don't immediately respond to emails and so you are best to approach them several days in advance of auction end to help facilitate larger items such as panels, motors, gearboxes etc.. I would use them again for shipping large items from Japan and YAJ!1 point

Hey Elyas, It’s a good start to ask on this forum as I was looking for close to 12 months prior to posting a Wanted ad here 2 years ago and within a few hours I had 3 to choose from. I was also after a restored, turn key RB powered 2 seater. Something will turn up and I believe your budget will get you what you want.1 point

Good luck with it Elyas... as I was reading the post, I was thinking about the 260Z with the RB30 in it; was going to send a link but sadly, as you mentioned, it's no longer on there. Hope you find what you're looking for. Marc.1 point

I've used FromJapan in the past. But only for small items, watches. Clear payment / fee structure with regular updates as to the status of the deliveries. Ability to bundle items, to reduce final despatch cost. Items always turned up well packaged. Cheers, Rob1 point
