bullzed Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 A long long time ago, back in my dream time, the young 15 year old me bought a rusty 280zx roller in hope to create an everyday run about. Little did I know, the prestige of the Z and the underground Z community would change this project's direction so drastically. This is the story of the 270ZX. Quote
bullzed Posted August 26, 2011 Author Posted August 26, 2011 Chapter 1: The Birth October 2009, I'd been searching for a first car for a about 6 months now, I'd gone through stages such as wanting a TC Cortina, to wanting a VC Valiant, however on the way to a Mopar swap meet, I saw a mint black 280ZX fly by us, and it was then that I knew the 280ZX was the car for me. I spent 2 months looking for a 280 but they were all rust buckets, condemned to the Z graveyard. In October, I found a fairly straight, rescueable 280 roller, but I didn't keep it without a fight. As soon as I'd won the auction, I was contacted by a 'previous owner' of the Z, trying to explain that the current seller had stolen the 280 body as part of a failed 'insurance plan' in selling his Torana. His argument quickly shifted to the roller being of sentimental value to him as his brother who had been diagnosed with cancer had once owned it. This didn't fly as it took about 4 days for him to tell us this, so I kept it. It's a 1982 S130 2+2 in maroon with red velour interior. Wires were cut and going everywhere, it leaked like a sieve, there were patches of rust in curvy places and it had received a decent knock to the drivers front corner, but I loved it all the same. bullzed Posted August 26, 2011 Author Posted August 26, 2011 Chapter 2: Refurbishing So the arduous journey begins! I've never been a fan of brightly coloured interiors, so that was my first (and cheapest) priority. Along with rust, this took up the most part of the first 3 months of work, changing a red interior to a black interior with red trim using a swag of black vinyl spray paint and some metho. Some interior pieces had perished from the sun over the years and Paul from zBitz helped me out a LOT with bits and pieces from his graveyard. Unfortunately this wasn't the last time I'd pull apart the interior. Rust wasn't much of a problem, however both the rust and all of the small knocks and scrapes were strategically placed on the corner of every body line possible, it's never fun doing it the easy way. We arrived at a stage where a powerplant was needed, time to bring life!! Quote
bullzed Posted November 15, 2011 Author Posted November 15, 2011 Okay I know I'm really lazy, partly due to final exams but.. This is where it is now When I regain motivation, I'll update this more! :S Quote
MaygZ Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 Okay I know I'm really lazy, partly due to final exams but.. This is where it is now Can you get it towed home from there?? Looking good. Quote
handsandwhich Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 ^^Ha, I see what you did there. Quote
JDSM Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Looking good. Out of curiosity, where did that ace rear spoiler come from? I'm looking for one nearly exactly like that Bring on the next installment! Quote
bullzed Posted November 22, 2011 Author Posted November 22, 2011 Hey mate, it's actually a Topstage wing made for a 240z or 260z. I did a bit of work to fit it! Can be seen here. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,10134.0.html Quote
GTI-Z Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 I love the look that the 260Z tail-lights give the back end. Quote
bullzed Posted November 23, 2011 Author Posted November 23, 2011 Thanks mate! They actually fit pretty well, whilst they are usually recessed on the S30 body, I like how they contour naturally with the edge of the S130 body! I'm so lucky that everything I've tried has actually worked out, S30 wing, 260z rear lights, a stroked L26, it's a cross breed! Quote
bullzed Posted December 31, 2011 Author Posted December 31, 2011 I'm now considering going back to my smoked rear lights, I preferred the look as it eliminated the red and orange. Quote
chartoo Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 Isnt that cop bait? Old car with smoked taillights. Here piggy piggy! Quote
bullzed Posted December 31, 2011 Author Posted December 31, 2011 I've never had problems with them before, however it is frowned upon. But it comes off with metho and a cloth so it's just as adjustable as our ride height issues Quote
EMPRACING Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 I like the black surrounds and nice condition chrome trim wish mine where that nice!! I'd never get away with the lenses but haha cops used to pull me over when it was semi tame Ive got no chance when its back on the road this time Oh the wheels are awesum too I'm really starting to love 513s \m/ Quote
bullzed Posted January 1, 2012 Author Posted January 1, 2012 Funnily enough the 513's are on my 260z now, and that's up for sale very soon due to my parents buying a house :( But I'm looking for a new set of shoes for my ZX!! I was trying to get steelies from ToyParts Industries but he is a nightmare to communicate with. I want to go deep dish steelies!! Quote
EMPRACING Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 ha how things cross over im taking off chrome steelies but there only 14x7 -0 boooo You do have to be carefull with that kind of wheel i had a set (no names) that had the center hitting the brakes where they are welded together. then theres always convos!!! bullzed Posted January 1, 2012 Author Posted January 1, 2012 Ouch :S I'll probably be running spacers to get my ideal stance, hoping to run 15x8 -30 in the front and 15x10 -15 in the rear then tweak with 2 or 3mm spacers to get it perfect! It may not be the fastest car, but it'll be one of the widest ZX's Quote

It may not be the fastest car, but it'll be one of the widest ZX's I hope you mean +30 Zac, with -30 you won't get flares to fit You could always go my 18's that are still here......... Quote
bullzed Posted January 2, 2012 Author Posted January 2, 2012 I won't be going flares on my ZX However I'll be incredibly close to my guard with this offset, just what I wanted Your 18's are 18x8 -2 are they not? If they are I'd be interested in getting them after I get back from NZ around the 16th of January! Quote
PZG302 Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 yep, actually 18x8 1/4" at about 0 to -2mm offset. No worries on the timing, unless someone comes up with some cash for them in the next couple of weeks they will be here Quote
bullzed Posted January 30, 2012 Author Posted January 30, 2012 Video update! Near completed, wooooooooooooo! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQebFke23II Quote
