215/60 on a 10J.

Bit of a stretch, took 3 tries with 2 bead blasters but looks the part in my opinion. Did have 235/60 on my meshies but I'm not a bulge guy, I like a little angled sidewall.

As long as the stretch is actually needed to fit the wheels under the guards no problems here! From the side on shot a few posts up you definitely could have stuck with the 235s though.

I don't know  ???

oh wait..... read the badge on spoiler.

They're all wrong, cos it's a ZX

As long as you like it...... that's all that matters!cos I don't

Hahaha I knew it would merit this kind of response. Considering the 280ZX was known and badged as Fairlady 280Z in the US (the badged came off an S130 USDM guard), and considering it is still badged as a Datsun despite also being a Nissan, I see nothing wrong with the badging.

The proper S130 fender mirrors look waaayyy better than the chrome ones you had on there.

correct me if i am wrong guys. but in america the 280z was a s30 chassis and the 280zx was a s130 chassis and the fairlady badge belongs in japan

My car IS badged as a "Fairlady 280Z", as it's a JDM car.

But I still call it a ZX most of the time, cos I can't be bothered explaining the difference!

I think they were all still "Datsun's" until about 1981 ???

Well mine is an 82 and it had a datsun badge standard, 'Datsun280ZX' with subscript reading (made by Nissan). The Fairlady280Z badge is from a US car, and I'm sure (you can quote me), they were known as both 280Z and 280ZX, despite the name 280Z also pertaining to a 260Z body with an L28. Whilst the badges do not belong to the specific car, they are globally correct chassis wise. Mind you I thought the lights would cause more of a fuss than the badges  ::)

If Alan (HS30-H) cared...... He'd correct you just like when Johnny wanted to call his car a ZG.  ::)

You need to read the fine print.........

Zac, you got this looking quite unique.

I did not realise those SSR's you got off me would end up looking so nice, well done.

The purists down south can go eat a k-nob.

We just roll cool up here in Qld!!!

When i pulled up behind it today, the fit and finish off of the 240K tail lights was very neat.

Now all i need to supply you is a gun engine and one of my special gearboxes!

Work on the paintjob for now!

Anybody else is welcome to do the same job. What's stopping you?

But just to show I do care ( and I'm an Equal Opportunities critic ), here I am. On cue:

Can you tell us which exact model of US market car wore that 'Fairlady 280Z' emblem?

The answer of course is that no US market model ever wore a 'Fairlady 280Z' emblem. It was used only on certain L28-engined sub-variants of the S130-series in the Japanese market ( where the 'X' suffix seen on Export market cars was not applied to the S130-series models ).

It's wrong-headed to think of the north American market S30-series 'Datsun 280Z' as "...a 260Z with an L28...". Once you start doing stuff like that, things get even more mixed up and confusing than they already are.

Seeing as I got the front guards from Jason, he advised me it came from a LHD S130, which would suggest a US import, yes? These guards had Fairlady 280Z badges on the front quarter guards, which I purchased. These were not S30 guards, they were S130. So would that not imply it is known as a Fairlady280Z in not only the JDM but also the USDM?

Not only that but I have a friend in Texas with an S130 with stock badging.

Clearly a Fairlady280Z

Also I feel 'wrong-headed' is highly misused, why 'wrong'? It is in fact a 260Z chassis with an L28 from factory. I don't see how that logic is incorrect.

Where's that popcorn ;)

The us weren't the only country to have left hand drive cars. There are lots of cars in Australia with fairlady badges two, but most of them have been rebadged. So what's to say that the us cars you mentioned have not been rebadged. All research I have done states that fairlady was Jdm not USDM and s130's were only badged as fairlady280z in Japan. This is what the Americans say

Well my mate in Texas says otherwise as his car was badged standard as Fairlady280Z, along with his white parts car. I understand that whilst mine is an Australian delivered S130, it would not be titled as such. However placing the badges on the car is; in a way; not incorrect. The cars are structurally, mechanically and visually the same as the Japanese counterparts. What's in a name? It's funny how the little things can cause the largest conflict.
