I've been chipping away over the last couple of weeks. Very satisfying. Hopefully in a couple of weeks I will be able to put the rear guard back on, The guard itself still needs some work done to it before I can weld it back on.

Thanks guys for the fantastic words of encouragement.  ;D

I was out there today. Welding away with a big grin on my face. I was a very happy boy. Man I'm having fun. The body stuff doesn't daunt me to much. Well maybe now and then. But the guys in this club get me through it, even if it is just with words of encouragement. It's funny how someone telling you "ah that's not so bad, you can fix it" gives you the push you need to get it done..

When it comes to mechanical. It is going to be interesting as I don't have a lot of experience in that area. But man I will give it a go.. ;)

Thanks

Matt

...I have just noticed today that there is a rebate down the sill where the guard fits into and I have no idea how I am going to achieve this...

Apologies for not seeing this earlier but you might want to consider purchasing a flanging tool (Poms call 'em Jogglers). Might be handy is you have a few lap joints to prepare. I find mine very useful as it also has a metal hole punch capability. I use the holes as weld locations.

Thanks Pete. I have been looking for one of them..

I chased around locally but there were few suppliers - Total Tools wanted over $200. I purchased one from the US and it was here inside a week.

If you can tackle metal work like what you have done, mechanical work won't be a problem. If you have an eye for detail, it's a pushover.. Also, if you need a hand, I'm not that far away!

This is a great thread.

After seeing this work in progress in the flesh the other day the photos don't do justice to the work that you have done Matt.

If you need an extra set of hands at any stage give me a yell,

cheers

Thanks Gav. The encouragement is a huge help. It has been dam tuff to get any work done lately. Winter is all taken up with kids sports on the weekend. Then sure enough a long week end comes up with no sport and it looks like I will have to work... F**^%*^$$@#rk!!!!

Inspiring stuff Matt.  Love your attitude and your attention to detail.  Makes mine look like a walk in the park and me look like a big girls blouse for being to scared to have a go.  Not anymore!!!!!

I made some progress today. :D

i finally got the guard back on. I have mixed feeling about this. Good because it is the first thing to go back on, But I think it could have gone on a bit better. I had to do so much work to get it back into a usable guard and I kind of wish I had just got a one that was in good nic to start with. I'm hoping all the lines are good once the bits start going on.

Anyway at least it is moving forward now>

Good stuff Matt, looks great from the photo.  :) Must be a relief now that you've got that guard on and it starts looking like a car again!

+karma for your commitment to the bus!
