Wayne G Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 Your car looks great! Fuels the fire to get mine finished Quote
44014 Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 Very nice mate good to see a bit of individualism ! Cheers Doug Quote
Stivva Posted April 2, 2012 Author Posted April 2, 2012 Had a little bit of a photo shoot today on my day off. I am getting pretty good with the camera I think. I still think only 33% off my photos are not blurred, but you know what they say. "If you can't tie knots, tie lots". Quote
thriller Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 From a photography point of view, ease up on the vignetting a little bit. And if you edit the colors/tone/anything, make it match the scene. For example I would have tried to make it look a bit whiter and cleaner rather than grey. Could probably mask out the car and increase the contrast on the background a bit. And the first photo would be about 5x better if you could have pushed the trolleys just out of frame too. And the back of the car looks a bit under-exposed, but you can't do much about that unless you bring along some ghetto lighting gear. Sorry if it sounds a bit harsh, but you never strive to get better if everyone says your photos are amazing yeah? That said they really are quite good, I'm just being a bit picky . I think a horrible dingy alleyway full of rubbish would be a cool spot for you to shoot, just leave the camera on a tripod with long exposure, bring a diffused torch and 'paint' the light onto those Z hips we all love. And yeah, car looks good Quote
Stivva Posted April 2, 2012 Author Posted April 2, 2012 It would be good If I could find an alleyway like that, but there just any near home and I hate driving a long way away lol. Thanks for the tips! Quote
sexual_sushi Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 I think the creamy coloured walls work. If they were gray the picture would look more black & white with some hand colouring on the wheels which I think would not be quite as good. The vignetting is a touch dark/harsh but I think this combined with the creamy tones it has that retro look that everyone is doing atm. Given the stance and colour of the car I think being a bit dark on top gives it a bit of a stealthy, tough look and in this case doesn't need to be perfectly exposed... if the car was different it might be a different story. I agree about the trolleys although I think they would have looked alright in the picture, just not behind the car as you lose the lines of the car where it normally would have contrasted with that creamy wall. You could probably 'disappear' the license plate on the car in the background in the second picture. That way it would be just a black mass and would not detract from your car at all. To be really picky you could remove the green sign on the wall as it doesn't really add anything and is just something else to look at, but really really not a big deal. Again, like thriller just picking at the nitty gritty, they are really nice photos! Quote
saxon Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 I don't see what the problem is. You can come take pictures of my car any day Quote
Stivva Posted April 2, 2012 Author Posted April 2, 2012 I agree with the green sign on the wall. And I should have moved the trolleys, but there was a trolley truck just out of frame and I didn't want to mess with the guys stuff. I guess thats the bad thing about having your only day of when the shops are open, everyone is there shopping. So the car park was quite full. Quote
sexual_sushi Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 I don't see what the problem is. You can come take pictures of my car any day absolutely no problem at all. I would gladly put those images on my wall. But every single photo can be critiqued, if we didn't learn from every photo we take our photos would still be those stern faced portraits from the 1800's Quote
SS30RR Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 All back home and together! you are fking kidding!!!.......that looks insane!!! lol. Quote
Stivva Posted April 12, 2012 Author Posted April 12, 2012 I had the car in at SW Motorsport again. This time they rebuilt the Carburettors fuel floats and a few other things. Doesn't really matter, but I drove it home and all was well, until I installed the 45kv coil for my electric distributor. Took the old bird for a spin after this and OMFG, I can not explain the difference in words. You really have to see the smile on my face. The car spins 1st and 2nd and chirps 3rd gear and each time it just throws you backwards in the seat. Quote
Riceburner Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 Is that as low as it'll go? Looks awesome. I've actually thought about dropping mine like this if I ever make it to a car show. Quote
Stivva Posted April 12, 2012 Author Posted April 12, 2012 If I go any lower I literally can not enter my garage. But the chassis rails are only about 50mm from the ground. Stupid? Maybe, but my choice and I love the stance Quote
zeds4ever Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 G'day mate, glad you have finally got everything sorted out with your motor . Told you how good the elctrnc igntn is. Makes a world of difference to the motor, but make sure you hook up the vacuum advance unit mate & she'll go even "betterer". When your'e at Carlo's place tomorrow why don't you see about a slipperyD for it. Looking forward to seeing (The car) on sunday ,oh n you to of course. By the way might see if Paul from Silverdale would like to come over & check it out I'm sure he'd luv to see it to if that's OK with you. Hope this was satisfactory for "The grammar police." LOL. Regards: Alan. Quote
Stivva Posted April 12, 2012 Author Posted April 12, 2012 Sounds good Alan, but organise anything yet, I still have to confirm that I would be able to make it around Quote
DreamZproject Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Hey Stivva, I can't express how much i like your car other than i want to copy it . How are you finding the satin paint? Is it a bitch to look after? I'm thinking of either doing the exact same paint combination you are doing, or if its too much money and effort to simply go for a darker grey (ford falcon ego). Amazing car mate! Quote
Tj Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Looks like you made a fan at the JDMST EOMM the other night, spotted this on another forum; Quote
Stivva Posted May 21, 2012 Author Posted May 21, 2012 Got mail today! A FairladyZ badges for my fenders from the states. Brand new and OEM parts! Cost me a pretty penny though. Quote
Stivva Posted May 27, 2012 Author Posted May 27, 2012 Latest parts are on (badges and lens covers), don't mind my brother posing on the car, it was the first time he had seen it so I think he was attempting to have sex with it. Quote
