Well the time has come and hopefully tomorrow is the begining of the end so to say.

Lurch and I start on the chassis bright and early and hopefully if my first born lump of motherly love gets things set up there should be a time lapse photograthy video up in the coming days of the process.

Although tomorrow will be a day of just the 2 of us nutting down and getting on with it, we will be hitting the Anglers Pub in Maribyrnong tomorrow night for a bite to eat and anyone interested in catching up is welcome to join us for a few ale's

Sunday arvo, if anyone is interested in coming down to see the bastard Bavarian Japanese child, I will have beers on ice as we wrap up the day.

PM me for more details

Cheers

Gretings crew

First off, big thankyou to Lurch for making the long trip westward over the weekend, and thankfully, we made a fair bit of progress.

The following is a serie of pics starting with fabricating a rotiserie from the plan and pre cut pieces I ordered a month ago.

In order to get this chassis even half way set up correctly with the limited tools and technology we had on hand, this had to be done.

Afterwards you will see the genesis of the chassis as it developed, we finished the entire mock up squared and true on the car up to the rear section where it dives upward back to the rear hatch floor pan, that will have to wait for another Saturday as there are fair few redundent mounts etc plus a sectionisation required in two sections to accomodate the set up.

All in all, even though Lurch was pretty reserved when we first started the new chassis, I think even he saw the versatility it will deliver..............I hope anyhow.

Cheers

John

Looks good boys. well done!

John, that would have to be the most heavy duty rotisserie Ive ever seen...you could put the Titanic on that.

Chassis looks good too....only concern I would have is the room its taking up for your exhaust?

Nice to see the wheels in motion again John :) Is the new bracing staying in permanently and what's the idea behind it all?

Thanks Gareth

Go back about 10 pages in this thread, this will be a bolt in bolt off suplement chassis that will carry the engine, box and diff.

LMAO Dave,

Lurch thought so also, but its rated from my calcs and is good for around 1,400 Kg's, so when it comes time to fit up the entire car so to say its up for the task.

Once we finished it Lurch said he has never seen a Rotiserie roll around as easy as this one, and the entire pivoting is on twin encapsulated bearings either end.

As for exhuast, heaps of room for the pipes, and remember no rear fuel tank and as Lurch and I discussed this afternoon multiple options to run dual mufflers in the area where the tank used to sit due to the donut / spare wheel well tank now acting as the 65 litre capacity unit.

Cheers

Hi Benny

First (Off topic) I will ring you tomorrow re "The Project" all is good, but I have just been to busy interstate and finishing tenders the past week to call you.

On topic - No, Lurch and I learnt something interesting today, the pan in  my car has the 1975 US 280Z cat converter pan, however, the drivers side rail and the passanger side rails are totally different profiles, the drivers side  is actually taller, of about a cm close to the grond, so when we set the new rails against them and leveled them out length and width wise the new rails which a true in both plains are actually only 10mm closer to the ground, negligable.
