Nissan 350z petrol

Hey Buying a Nissan 350z at 17 years of age my income per week is 400$ currently. Was wondering what type of petrol this car needs to take and does it chew through it. Any other ideal suggestions for cars that are close to 210KW and maybe more affordable thanks.

Taylor,  it looks like no one here can help, Lurch's suggestions are good plus a search through Carsales using the relevant search criteria to weed out those which don't suit. Good luck, enjoy your Z.

I have owned series 1 and series 3 350Zs and they are actually good on fuel. You will need to put 98 premium unleaded in them though which is pretty expensive these days. I think for the money you will be hard pressed to get a better first sports car that is p-plate legal.

Yea I'll second that opinion. I had a 350z, fantastic cars. Highly recommended, you'll love it .

Something you will need to consider is the cost of the insurance. I'm 46 years old with a perfect driving record, 6 years ago I was paying over 1k for the 350z.

Okay Ill go with the 350z but is there anyway for it to use 95 and up petrol wise or just only 98?

I don't know what price the 350Z's your looking at are but you should consider a GT86 if it fits your budget.

I'd go a Renault Megane rs250 or Focus XR5 turbo or Mazda 3 mps or something along those lines. Plenty of power, better on fuel and fits 4 people. Better for a young bloke.

If you can't afford 98 octane fuel, buy a corolla mate. I'm not being harsh, but if $10 a tank makes the difference you can't afford a sports car.

I doubt any of those cars are better on fuel and they are all turbo which you can't have on your Ps in QLD right?

This is a terrible option. Would you really have a 260Z 2+2 as your daily Gav? Or any S30 for that matter? They are just too old to be a sensible choice for anything other than a weekend car these days.

I tend to think a clapped out 350z is not a great option either to be honest.

I had a 240z/260z as a daily in the early 2000s. Depends if you're willing to tinker with it and tune it etc..

Vintage cars can perform ok as drivers - depends on the end user really.

R31 Skyline manual. Good p plate car that’s cheap enough to run/fix and insure. You can JDM the shit out of it and go to all the eommeets with your mates.

Toyota MR2 2nd gen. I had one for a few years and it never skipped a beat. 4cyl meant it was Super efficient and only cost me 6k upfront.

Maybe it's different in NSW but you can't have a 350z on P plates here. According to the search tool.

If we are making suggestions I would say an early MX5 is a great choice and at 17 you won't have enough skill to really get the most out of it with spirited driving.

If I had the power of a 350z at 17-18 I'd hate to see the trouble I would have gotten into.

MX5, s2000, early Mazda Rx7s would be my choice although rotary fuel economy isn't good, especially the turbo's.

I would definitely suggest anything 2L and below for a p-plater on a budget. especially when it comes to insurance & fuel. As Gav said, above, I would also hate to think what I would have gotten myself into if i had a car with the power of a 350z. Also, for that money, you could buy a cheap little daily & a project car.
