HS30 00501 and up... that's when the rear vents in the hatch were removed. 1 hour ago, smugley said: $79 K and the battery is held in with a Occy strap ! If we're going to be picky.. Rear bumper overriders are mounted upside down. Seats have been re-trimmed (missing the buttons/vent holes) Hubcaps are later "Z" style, but on this car should be "D" style. Fuel pump is aftermarket. Brake/fuel reservoir caps are aftermarket (plastic) replacements. Fan likely would have been metal. Gearknob is correct but missing insert. Looks like 3 screw SU's, should be 4. Door panels look like retrims (not OEM - too puffy). Missing bonnet badge (Datsun) Front fenders are "260z" with the indicator in them. (240z's didn't have them in Australia). I can't tell from the photos, but it should have a 71A gearbox. 1 hour ago, arbs said: And what is that Blue plate next to it it looks like a modification /compliance or import plate ? The ad says L24, but doesn't state the number or if it's a matching no's engine. My guess is it may have had an engine swap at some point requiring the mod plate? But it could easily also be brakes or some other modification that has since been reversed? It's certainly in better shape than HS30 00892 was... (in Wollongong a few years back now) https://photos.app.goo.gl/tHAe9zCvJsrxig4x9 HS30 00890 is in a sad state. https://photos.app.goo.gl/WDMY4dZY0rBx3tHF2 HS30 00898 is in NZ and undergoing restoration work. https://photos.app.goo.gl/XphQAWmpWtrAEkjj8 For me it's the closest car I've seen to HS30 00675 which was advertised a couple of years back through the throttle shop at a similar price. Then went to the UK. https://goo.gl/photos/BqoS3k2eDZZaUWqt7 I personally think #675 was a better car, although it had the wrong radio (correct faceplate). Quote
d3c0y Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 No chrome trim on the door cards either, definitely re-trim. This reeks of a dealer jumping on it trying to make a quick profit. I doubt the seller knows it's not what they think it is, because at that price you do want to be a stickler for Gav's list. Quote

I I think you mean Hitachi's Gavin. Datsun/Nissan used Hitachi Carburettors manufactured in Japan, not the British made SU Carburettors, unless the owner has done the common for the day swap of some 1 1/2 or 1 3/4 inch SU carburettors from a Jag, Triumph or other British car. Yes, I'm bored at work, you can only spend so much time writing a data management framework for a national road authority before needing a break Quote

Early Hitachi SU's on 240z's were 4 screw dome tops. This car has Hitachi (240z) SU's but they appear to have 3 screws, which appeared late 71 and early 72. This car being an earlier 71 should have 4 screw dome top SU's. Not a huge deal, but at some point someone changed them out, for whatever reason. Technically the 4 screws were a bit better, since the nozzle alignment could be adjusted, the 4 screws were fixed into the body (cost saving reasons) and as a result can make needle alignment a bit more of a challenge. But this is a very minor detail (along with a few other subtle differences). 5 minutes ago, PZG302 said: Yes, I'm bored at work, you can only spend so much time writing a data management framework for a national road authority before needing a break I know that feeling... ughh...
