Makes the 2+2 shown above look cheap given what the resto costs might be, however if a true country car (not near the coast) then maybe not much rust - but the roof will need work!.

It's possible I was dislexic when I put the price in, but I am pretty sure it was priced in the 50k range. Perhaps got a flood of interest early and decided to bump it up? Pretty sure owner is a member here.

Hi Gav,

Not your issue - it was mine :)

I was quickly advised my pricing was too low for the quality of this car.

It is not a rushed sale - but I have 3 zeds and unfortunately only long term space for 2!

Unless I move house :

Also think the effort already expended into my competition cars (since 2004) suggests holding onto them ahead of a road zed.

Will probably let market decide what zed goes first...

The car is insured with Shannon's (site unseen for $50k)

Good to know, I spend ALL day looking at numbers and sometimes I make mistakes or misread numbers. I've had to correct myself many times when entering HS30 information into my database as I've made mistakes on engine and chassis no's before!

Your car got me thinking, the fact it has all that paperwork and you can track it's history quite well, it's original, matching no's with original paint colour etc.. Seems to have been cherished. I actually think given the price of Japanese classics right now that your pricing seems fair to me.

Not sure if you saw but HLS30 00064 sold for $60k USD recently (unrestored)

It caused quite a stir on the good ol' Facebook!

Just goes to show that these cars are moving upmarket. Perhaps a little too quickly for all of us though!

Selling my Datsun 260Z 2 seater (#005029) that's been dry stored in a shed/garage for almost 20 years. I've procrastinated listing it for sale until now as I have decided I'm not quite skilled, experienced nor have the time to undergo the work to get it back on the road.

Previous owner last had it registered in QLD, 1998. He removed the engine (L28 Nissan motor at the time), and gave it a fairly rough respray, assumably #908 Green - said to be the original colour even though #110 Red is showing through in some areas of the body. He decided to not pursue the project any further, however, accumulated many, many parts in preparation - the entire list is too long to list, though to name a few included: extra 5spd gearbox, unoriginal L26 engine, L28 engine, new monotorque gasket kit, LHS front guard with indicators, engine splash guard, Triple Dellorto 45mm Carburetors, bumper, grille, A/C unit, front/rear wiring harness', two radiators, numerous interior/exterior parts such as lights, various chrome parts, various plastics and door-parts, complete spare 260Z Dash and lots of usable nuts and bolts - all very helpful if undergoing a restoration. Some 2 2 parts included may not be compatible.

Car is currently complete apart from engine/carbies/distributor/radiator etc being uninstalled. Body requires rust repair work in areas such as door sills, passenger-side floor pan, taillight surround and passenger-side rear quarter, radiator frame, some rust in doors and roof has some flaky surface rust due to primer being exposed. Otherwise, the car has no bog or filler. Glass is in good shape. Rubbers in OK condition. Interior is complete and in good condition, though dash is splitting and some plastics are cracked. Missing ignition key, though has the door, hatch and fuel cap keys.

Many detailed photos available!! In no rush to sell. Feel free to text or call me. Can assist with transport pick-up. Thanks!

Off topic, but does anyone know how to track the history of a car ? When I purchased my zed in 97, originality of a Datsun was not very important. The lady I purchased the car from in Wahroonga was the original owner and had all the paperwork, books etc from new. They were not available when I picked the car up (that was days when you looked at the car and took it on the spot) but she did ask me to call her the following week to pick the up papers.

In my wisdom I did not call her to arrange the pick up straight away. It maybe a long shot but she may still have everything ?

Anyone have an idea's ?

Facebook? Do you know her name and previous address? I looked up the previous owner of my 72 recently, appears he's still at the same address and phone number. Been meaning to call as he may still have a few parts laying about from it.

I hope for your sake the previous owner still has the paperwork!

After 20yrs? She might have passed on by now. Well you never know your luck..... always worth a try.

LHD 240z in Australia.

https://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/_/SSE-AD-4979701?WT.seg_4=AutoAlert;PCAA&sdmvc=1&utm_campaign=bau&utm_medium=email&utm_source=transact&utm_content=autoalert&wt.z_driver=Email_SearchAlert?WT.seg_4=AutoAlert

Asking: $44k

1972 Datsun 240Z – ONLY ORIGINAL CAR ADVERTISED L24 ENGINE

This is the only 240Z listed on carsales with its original matching number engine.

Build date 11/1971. All compliance plates are still in tact on car, including on door sill and in engine bay.

This is a complete original non raced and unmolested Datsun 240Z with the original engine still in the car since 1971

This car had never been in an accident.

It has become extremely rare to find a Datsun 240Z, let alone a 260Z with its original engine still in the car.

This car is part of my private collection. The car was registered and driving previously. It is an original left hand drive car and has global appeal.

At one time the engine has been fully reconditioned. The engine is extremely strong and sounds very tough.

It is the original 110 paint code colour on the car. Paint is good on the car. There are a few chips and scratches on some of the edges, but otherwise body is very straight.

It has striking 14” rare classic Enkei EK20 wheels. Cost over $2500.00

I regularly start the car and drive the car in the street. The car has just had an oil change, new oil filter and new battery.

Parts needed for car:

Missing side mirrors... $117.00
Driver side door card... $150.00
Driver side door handle... $35.00
Door rubber... $45.00
Few badges... $200.00

New parts are very cheap for these cars. If you want to fully restore the interior it’s very cheap to do so.

Brand new carpet sets can be purchased from the Z store for US$200.00, seat covers US$295.00 + a further discount of 10% for all orders over $200.00

The Datsun 240Z is in its definitive years as a true classic collector car. Current rices of the 240Zs as you may be aware are sky rocketing and this iconic car is becoming increasingly hard to find as an original example.

What’s it worth?

Considering previous sales and what others are selling these true classics for, with my 240Z being an original matching number car and also considering it’s a LHD car, I think the price I am asking is very reasonable.  If it was a right hand drive car, I should be advertising it well over $70K.

There is no doubt that global prices of original 240Zs have yet to reach their pinnacle.
Lately, 240Zs in the US are climbing well over US$35K and also in the UK, good examples are over $30£.

To import a similar matching number car it would cost you over AU$45,000 landed.

Secure one today at the right price.

Please no low offers as I do not need money and the longer I hold onto it the more I make.

Seller's Comment

1972 DATSUN 240Z  white with matching numbers.
Best combination white on black interior in 5 speed manual.

I have owned my 240 for over 8 years in which in have fully maintained it to its current condition.

It's mostly factory original except for the 15 inch genuine gold mesh Simmons wheels and the  sony cd player.

The body was resprayed 4 years ago and still is in excellent condition but not showroom condition.

The interior is mostly original in black . except for the wooden gearnob and stereo. Dash has no cracks and trim all intact and no rips,  Gauges all work except for clock and taco.

The mechanics of my 240 is excellent.  With the original L24 engine and extractors. Drives very well idles quietly. No smoke, No noise, choke works, gearbox, clutch, brakes and diff all sound good.

You can call me for more info and I am happy to organise inspections. I can also help with shipping for interstate buyers via Ceva transport logestics.

Currently on club rego, therefore will be sold unregistered.

Thank you.

I don't think so, I was originally suspect of the chassis and matching no. L24 but the ID plate is a reproduction and the stamping was done differently to factory. However the numbers and ranges match up.
