260DET Posted March 3, 2016 Author Posted March 3, 2016 Have you still got it? and when you say Yes! they never reply as if they wanted you to say no so they could stop day dreaming about buying it. You don't understand If it's sold it must have been a good one that I missed out on, if it's still for sale then it must be a shoot box which I don't want anyway. Keeps the dream alive. Moderators PB260Z Posted March 4, 2016 Moderators Posted March 4, 2016 Whats wrong with Magnas??? I have one as a daily, it was reliable till i put a turbo on it hahaha They are actually pretty good cars, they just can't shake the bad reputation. I worked for Mits for a few years and had many a Magna/Verada and 380 as company cars. Two that really stood out - Magna TJ AWD Sports. - 380 VRX I would happily have kept either of them. MichaelT Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Engine ad: was running when last used. Photo is of long engine without timing cover, ports open. Appears to have been sitting outside for a decade. Every engine was running when last used. Other one that gets my goat are the numerous claims that the motor was apparently rebuilt by the previous owner but I've not checked myself. Guaranteed to mean it's flogged to sh#t. Cozza Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 Can't say I've seen this before but thought it sounded like an excuse to sell unregistered. "Car is currently running 30 psi boost and should make around 580-600 HP at the wheels. Due to its power, this car is NOT for the inexperienced driver. For this reason I will be selling it unregistered." 260DET and gav240z 2 Quote
260DET Posted May 17, 2016 Author Posted May 17, 2016 (edited) Also "Car is currently running 30 psi boost and should make around 580-600 HP at the wheels." In other words, 'I stuck 30 psi boost into it without tuning it properly on a dyno.' As well, 'It's not registered so you can't take it for a test drive mate.' Edited May 17, 2016 by 260DET Quote
Bonkers Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 You have to much time on your hands Richard if you are able to find material like that . Brilliant Paul could use that to advertise the monthly event ZCCQ attends. The not registered and no test drive is one I had to deal with . As it turns out I must have been the 1 in a 100 where things go right. Quote

neRok Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 (edited) Won't need much for roadworthy, but too busy to organise it myself.... Don't forget that lines counterpart... "Nothing wrong with it... just needs this 1 thing replaced, which I have a new one of in the box" The not registered and no test drive is one I had to deal with . As it turns out I must have been the 1 in a 100 where things go right. I sold a car like that on the weekend. I was very upfront about the problems, but the bloke was still concerned regarding the driveline (which didn't have problems). I think his fears were dismissed after he purchased it, and I heard him flogging it up the street Edited July 5, 2016 by neRok Quote
Cozza Posted August 13, 2016 Posted August 13, 2016 Here's a TRX Pintara for sale. It's a bit long winded but funny all the same. https://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Nissan-Pintara-1990/SSE-AD-4174181 **EDIT - Car now on Ebay for $1 no reserve auction. Good luck!**** 14 inch original TRX alloy wheels with center caps... car on top essentially comes free. ** EDIT *** - Lower price and VIDEO is up on Youtube. Search "The BEST car on carsales" to view Rego runs out 7/8/16 and will be sold WITHOUT plates. Can deliver before that date if A: the car makes it and B: the buyer chips in for petrol. Don't even bother trying to get a roadworthy, the couch you're sitting on reading this has more of a chance of passing than the car. This TRX has been through a very rough time. Exterior has been neglected, interior is torn down to the metal from the middle to the end of the boot (yes there's only the two front seats and the dash left). Engine has spent more time above 6,000 rpm than below, suspected timing chain stretched (she misses more than my missus misses the punch line in my jokes) from putting a P plate VE commodore in it's place about a year ago. Gave it to the brother in law as a loan car when his car died... expected it to last a week... yet here I am a year later with the car returned... Clutch - works somewhat, sometimes need to put foot under pedal to bring it back up.I like to think of it as the clutch taking a nap. Gearbox - Like working a spoon through a cereal bowl, H pattern has been worn down to an oval pattern. She holds every gear most of the time. Doesn't really grind unless you find that magical gear between 2 and 4. Suspension - No joke TRX suspension is the bomb, if the tires weren't almost bald/rock hard this thing would handle like a formula 1 car (maybe) but due to the aforementioned tires she's like a wet dog trying to run on tiles. Brakes - Recently replaced (I told the brother in law to just throw in used ones from pick a part but he insisted on getting new pads). Stops on a dime. Airconditioning works if you park under a shady tree. Expect to be hit with the force of 10,000 ciggies. Don't expect to drive far with aircon going... it knocks out 2 of the 3 remaining cylinders. Exhaust is a cannon/milo tin. Expect to be noticed. Don't plan on being able to go to Maccas drive thru... They won't be able to hear you over the car. Tap the accelerator pedal when slowing down to produce that V8 crackle (or backfire depending on many variable factors). Regularly smoked in/on/under... not sure if that's the cause of the smell. Drivers seat collapsed but usable, Passenger seat is just weird to sit in. Oil pressure gauge is way too excited, Fuel gauge likes to under estimate, Temp gauge never goes above one third but the car does a weird boiling gurgling sound when you stop after a long (25 minutes being long) trip. Boot collects water when it rains, big hole straight to the road acts as a drain so don't stress. Airconditioning button has a really annoying light, half press and flick the switch and the globe will short out until next time it annoys you. Steering wheel is from a game console, it's a 10 inch wheel which you will NEVER get used to. You're also guessing above 60kph and 4000 RPM as the smaller wheel now covers those areas of the cluster. Has had oil changed every 3 weeks... that's about how long a Kmart dinosaur sludge 4L oil container lasts with the amount of leaks it has. Water flushed at least once every 3 days.Powersteering every 2-3 months, brake fluid needs to be flushed. Service sticker was due around 500,000kms ago, perhaps remove sticker if you're going to send it in for a birthday. For all the bad points above you'd be surprised how well the car performs when it is on point. Sometimes you get this roar and actual power to the wheels right through the rev range. Car is sitting at work at Burwood East, can be limped to Croydon if collecting from there. Test drive if you're brave. There is a bet going round the office for how much this car will sell for. Quote
Moderators PB260Z Posted August 13, 2016 Moderators Posted August 13, 2016 Love the pitch of the seller's ad. These cars were less than average when new. After 835,000 Ks it is amazing that it still exists. Quote
andyk_79 Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 That is possibly the best classified ad I have ever seen. Up there with the New Zealander that was selling a "time machine" a few years back that went viral before the term viral was being used for that kind of thing: http://www.learningace.com/doc/653035/b46abab463348fead1e761b5f5bbe475/time-machine-for-sale-trademe-co-nz-new-zealand Quote
Six_Shooter Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 I'm seeing this far to often lately:"Rare"... on something common or at least fairly common. *facepalm* Just because YOU have only owned the one or only noticed a few does not mean that the engine block that can be found all over or the turn signal lenses you are selling are rare."Built for a customer, but went a different route". Really? So why is the "customer" not selling it then?"I have $XXXX amount of money invested" in some vain attempt to justify the higher than actual value price they are asking. Case in point a local guy advertised a Megasquirt 2 V3.0 for sale, claiming he had $1800 invested in it, "I built this a couple years back for a car and the customer decided to run OEM management instead of shooting for big HP numbers." Really because OEM management precludes the possibility of big numbers? For poops and guffaws I sent the seller a message and got some additional pictures since some parts were missing from the single picture in the ad to back up his claim of what it was and thought maybe he meant it was a more featured (and expensive) version and may be worth trying to haggle. Nope, it was the same system I can buy for less than half of what he's asking shipped from the states, landed at my door. It's been on Kijiji for about 6 months now, same ad, no price revision. The last message I sent him was that I have no idea how he managed to invest the claimed $1800 into that system. Unless he was stupid and was ripped off there's no way he could have. I think he's hoping someone will not research enough before plunking down the cash. He's asking $1200... *facepalm* I've bought 5 MS systems, in the last year or so sure a couple have been MS1, but that's an easy change and have around $750 invested so far in 5 systems... One was a gamble because the seller admitted to damaging the mainboard with his lack of soldering skills. The board is useable, but it will sit as a back up and/or test bench unit. It was cheap though and was only a few more dollars than buying the daughter card alone that looks to be unused, so I have spare parts for only marginally more than what one of the main items would cost that I can use to upgrade one of the MS1 units I bought...I'm thinking I might send him an offer much below what he's asking and see if he goes for it. lolAnother cliche I like is "rare hard to find model" on something that never existed, like putting SS badges on a 1985 S10 Blazer (small SUV here in North America). Yeah, that would be hard to find something that never existed. lol Quote
Moderators PB260Z Posted August 21, 2016 Moderators Posted August 21, 2016 I'm thinking I might send him an offer much below what he's asking and see if he goes for it. I have seen that work. The high asking price can result in no one making an offer, and the vendor thinking that there is no market for the item. Then your percieved low offer seems like the only option. Can't hurt to try. So not sure how else it was going to be delivered. Easy fix for panel beater. I love these "easy fix" type comments. Everything should be relatively easy for an expert. It's just the cost. Perfect restoration car for a young lad. Why? Young blokes are broke... this will need some coin thrown at it. With 260Zs currently listed online between $35K and $70K, everybody knows by now, these cars are on the rise. With the 240Z hitting record sales, its time for the 260Z to follow and now is the time to buy. Unfortunately, I have 6-7 projects going on at the moment including a few Datsun’s and I just cannot leave these cars lying around. Past performance is not an indicator of future performance. The old I have lots of projects on the go. When in reality he just bought these for a quick flip... Let's be honest. The 260Z’s are one of the easiest and cheapest cars to restore. You can find parts for these anywhere and a lot of new parts are cheaper than second hand parts. Whilst there is some truth in it. It's all relative to what you consider "restored" isn't it? Perhaps I'm being harsh, but a bit of honesty doesn't go astray either I suppose. andyk_79 and OdinZ 2 Quote
