Jeff's 240z build

Recommended Posts

Started a few of the jobs on my list on the weekend. Between rehab walks, rides on the exercise bike and a swim or two I managed to

Had a big clean up in the shed as after 8 weeks all the other family members had just dumped their stuff inside the door. Both the kids have moved out and taken some of their gear with them so I now have a bit more space (yipee)

Striped the rear and front wiring harnesses, cleaned them up, inspect them and found a few areas for repair. Looks like rats have been chewing on a few parts of the harness. Probably just body rub but the sections need repairing either way.

Dismantle the dash, clean the air/heater hoses and grills. Start the job of the dash pad refurbishment. We got Rocky a new swimming pool so I used the old one to wash things in. He was a bit confused and not to sure about it but some biscuits helped ease the pain for him. He is enjoying being back in the shed supervising.

Progress continues.

  • 3 weeks later...

Dash has been pulled apart washed cleaned and touched up or repaired, instruments were pulled apart cleaned, new light globes and then all re assembled.

I have started to put a few small items back onto the shell, placed an order with Car Builders, awaiting a delivery of rubber components from Merica.

Its been fun unpacking components that were reconditioned over the past years and put into storage ready for bolting back together.

If all goes to plan the next month should see some serious progress, and not before time. Happy days.

Looking good Jeff,

It does feel good when you start putting the car back together with nice clean bits. I look forward to watching it all come together and one day soon hearing that LCR masterpiece come to life.

Cheers Jeff

Thanks boys. I managed to get a load of jobs ticked off yesterday.

I have ordered some gear from “Car Builders” and want to get the shell off the dolly and back to a rolling shell so it’s a lot more stable when I’m getting in and out working on the inside. Sorted through all of the plastic containers I have used to store parts in over the years. Arranged them in a sort of order for re assembly. Jacked up the shell, removed the rear dolly, a spider or two and cleaned off some cobwebs that had embarrassingly made the underside of the shell home.

Ran the break line from the front to the back down the transition tunnel. Fitted the rear break lines out to each side. Fitted the hand break assembly and cables.

Installed the fuel filter assembly I made what seems like years ago. Then ran the new fuel line from the T along the tunnel to the engine bay (engine bay is not done yet).

Cleansed up a few items I discovered that I had missed alone the way. Then installed the Diff and the hangers. Then it was time for a beer.
