Riceburner Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Has anyone else noticed the lack of free to air coverage for Saturday qualifying and races? I noticed an 8.30pm 'highlights' package on free to air Boo! Quote
Gordo Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Yes, it's shit. As what's happening with a lot of sport, Foxtel is showing it live. We've been Shafted my Freand. Quote
oldmates260z Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Makes no sense, Channel 10 paid a fortune to win the coverage from 7. They promised more hours of Free to Air and they are obviously not delivering that. There was a NZ 101 race on which was an old race and nothing live..crazy. Quote
WA240Z Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 Same story for F1. Chanel 10 is only showing about half the races this year. I only realised yesterday when I was checking the program to see what time the qualifying was on yesterday, to my total frustration, no qualifying and no race broadcast. I am SO pissed off about it. I dont have foxtel, nor do I want to get Foxtel. Free to air TV has really taken a massive dive in the last year. There isn't even the amount of some high quality drama produced on free TV any more, especially on 2 and SBS there was a couple of years ago. Its only f,,king reality shows. Who wants to watch untalented people sitting around watching TV? Quote
Moderators PB260Z Posted March 29, 2015 Moderators Posted March 29, 2015 It is more and more about the money these days. At Bathurst for the last couple of years one of the best viewing areas on was fenced off as Bar and you could enter if you purchased beer them at premium prices. Long gone are days of free entertainment for the fans. Quote

Who wants to watch untalented people sitting around watching TV? Its even worse than you think. While channel 10 is showing half the races, most of them are the midnight races (Canada, USA, Brazil etc). Don't think I am going to see much F1 this year Quote
Riceburner Posted March 29, 2015 Author Posted March 29, 2015 So I guess it'll be the same story with MotoGP too Looks to be another highlights package for today too.... V8SC you suck! Quote
sydney mike Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 I am just about to go out to work. Went to program the recorder for F1 Malaysia and see ONE & TEN is not showing it live or even delayed tonight but 9.30pm tomorrow? Has my electronic guide got it wrong? Quote
C.A.R. Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 F1 is only on Fox this year. Try these for F1: http://squirrelstreams.com/ and/or http://www.ustream.tv/embed/20274014 For V8's go here & select the appropriate link for the V8's when it's being broadcast: http://www.vipleague.co/sports/motorsports.html Quote
Enzo Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 Just tried those two Lurch but have restrictions for my area. I have been on to the Sydney morning Herald live update and F1 can be followed but only with written coverage, but a lot of info. David Quote

260DET Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 Ten sold their SC and F1 rights to Poxtel because they don't know how to run a TV station at a profit. Quote
zed240au Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 This is bull Tassie government pay v8s to come here and race now we have to put up with a 1 hour delayed highlight package to see it if we cant make it to race track Sick of fat cats at V8s and Afl making money and giving nothing back to the supporters Mick Quote
Brabham Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 Realised this too today. Got over it pretty quickly when I reminded myself of my earlier conclusion that the racing these days is rubbish anyway. f1 now is a joke, ridiculously stage managed, forcing you to use the wrong tire for one stint, no fuel stops, the cars are heavy hybrids and sound rubbish with lap times slower than they were in 2004 and half the power of the 80's turbo cars. Much the same story with V8s, heavily stage managed, heavy, heavy cars, forced pit strategy and short races rather than one big race on a Sunday. Give me a group A skyline or Cosworth Sierra any day. Calling a race a 500 and splitting the distance into a host of smaller races is not a 500. A 500 is one big race on a Sunday, with one driver driving, like nascar. Decided to go outside and spend time on a real car (the Z) where I Would not be subjected to the mediocrity of modern Motorsport. Endrant Quote
tir33d Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 How do you think I feel owning a Tyrepower store and the one race they heavily sponsor is Tasmania. Real smart to sponsor something that doesn't get any coverage. Total idiots! Quote
Graedat Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Im glad I am not the only one totally pissed off with whats happening to Free motorsport coverage in this country. Its a disgrace and something needs to be done about it. Lurch you ROCK I have been wondering how I can find an alternative, and you my friend have saved the day. Cheers Grae. Quote
NickF Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 I watched F1 https://youtu.be/7nKmQgfbt2M Great race no ads Nick Quote
peter t Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Thank God the WCC was on except we were only playing NZ. Quote
Scando Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 It sucks that it's not on free to air and I have no intention of paying an inflated price for a bunch of other channels that I don't want. At least Fox give live coverage of all of the support categories though. Quote
260DET Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Other than F1 I'd prefer to see mixed sports car racing, current to historic. Porsche Cup, Aussie cars and so on? Nah. But no sponsorship means no air time for the sporties Quote
dat240z Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 I agree it's tough on those without fox, but for those with fox - the coverage is 1000 times better than any of the free to air channels had. Streets ahead Quote
chris240 Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Kerry Stokes has lost my respect for onselling the rights to F1 and V8-SC....shame on you. Quote
C.A.R. Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 F1 China GP is about to start (4pm AST). This is working & is stable: http://www.squirrelstreams.com/ Quote
chris240 Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 That was painfull Lurch.... Tried the laptop and the I-pad , usually everything streams fine, but it didnt like the Chinese GP, start stop start stop Dang pace car stuffed the last 3 laps. Quote
