Watched Gone Girl at the cinema last night.

Fantastic acting and thrilling all the way to the end, shame I absolutely hated the ending though. In saying that it's probably the best flick I've seen for 2014.

8/10

So, I just finished watching The Interview.

I don't see what all the hoopla was about concerning releasing it.

It's a typical Rogan/Franco comedy. Actually to be honest it's a little better than that.

It's not a "must see" but if you have a couple hours to waste and you're caught up on everything else, it's good for that.

No one watched any movies lately?

Last movie I watched was interstellar.  Gets all 2001 space odyssey crazy near the end.

Yeah I thought so too, yet nobody else I mentioned this to thought the same.

The greatest movie ever sold.

I always like Morgan Spurlock documentaries, the premise is has advertising gone too far? The answer is yes.

I finally saw 'The Chronicles of Riddick' after seeing Pitch Black over 15 years ago and 'Riddick' a few months back. It was ok but they are all sort of out of sync in many ways.

Had a spare couple of hours yesterday and watched "The Mechanic" with good ole Chucky Bronson (1972). Tried to spot a 240z but couldn't find one.

Furious 7...

The movie was more over the top than the previous 6, but for the most part, in a good way. Many returning characters as well. Plenty of comedy moments, and lots of action. LOTS of action.

The send off for Paul couldn't have been more perfect.

Snowpiercer - Not a movie I'd recommend to be honest, it had a couple of almost brilliant moments but overall I felt it was quite average.

Reviews online seem to be positive, but I'd give it 5/10.

Prisoners with Hugh Jackman, not bad for a child has been kidnapped kind of movie. Jackman's character is a little dark, which is not a role I'm used to seeing him in. I'd say 7/10.

haha that's being generous. I'd say 2/10 at best. Stupid premise to begin with, but did have a promising start to the movie, all downhill from there. Stupid plot twist & the ending left me saying "so what?" The movie left me very unsatisfied & I'm not hard to please when it comes to movies lol

Just watched '71. Tense 24 hour period of a soldier caught on the wrong side of the fence in war torn Ireland in 1971. Shot with gritty realism which will make you hold your breath all the way through. 8/10

Also watched Transcendence. Didn't think it was that bad Gav.

Interstellar (2014) - Meh. It was a decent movie, but predictable. I was expecting some sort of great twist after Cooper went through the gargantuan black hole, but it was pretty much exactly what I expected to happen. I'll likely watch again, but it won't be a must watch again. I'd say 6/10, only because it some some great ideas, but failed to deliver any real excitement or new ideas.

Just watched 'A million ways to die in the west'

Wasn't too bad if you like Seth Macfarlane comedy.  American Indian for 'Fine' turns out to be Mila Kunis who knew  ;D

I thought that was a great movie.

The even more funny part about that movie is that for some reason people thought it was supposed to be a serious western and were pissed when it turned out to be a comedy.

I love Seth MacFarlane creations. He always pushes beyond the edge of good taste, but only enough to still be down right funny.

Mad Max: Fury Road.

I've waited about 20 years for this movie to come out, since I heard of the announcement back in the mid '90's. I was disappointed when it got shelved in 2003 (after some shooting had been done) and it seemed like it would never see the dark of a movie theater.

I tell ya, it was worth the wait. It is the only movie I have seen where if I didn't go to the late show, I likely would have turned around and watched it again for the next showing.

The way the movie was made is more reminiscent of the original Mad Max (1979) movie, where the story was thin, but still had enough substance to be a complete story and make sense, allowing the viewer to fill in the blanks that were not explicitly explained, or could infer what the back story could have been from the information given.

The stunts, oh the stunts. They were some of the best I have ever seen, in any movie. They made me sit there in amazement that some of them could even be pulled off.

The vehicles are so over the top, but still look very plausible in the way they were built for the story line, considering the environment they are driven through. The Gigahorse is even better in action than the stills that have been passed around the internet for a while now would have indicated. The other vehicles are so cool as well, some very reminiscent of typical hot rods with post-apocalyptic flavour.

Possible spoilers in the next paragraph, but I think I left details vague enough to still let everything be a surprise, since much of what I talk about is in the trailers already.

As I've been saying all along from the first trailer I have seen, this is a reboot, or alternate universe/reality and does not fit (well) within the story line set out by the first 3 movies. The big reason for this is that the Last V8 Interceptor makes another appearance in this movie, but is destroyed, or at the very least very badly damaged and when it re-appears is VERY different than what was shown in the Road Warrior, which is about the only way this could even remotely fit into the previous 3 movies, it would have to happen before Road Warrior to fit with the demise of the Interceptor in that movie, but would have had an extensive rebuild to bring it back to how it looked in The Road Warrior and the beginning of Fury Road.

So the only way to look at this movie in my opinion is either an alternate version of The Road Warrior that would have happened later in a time line than The Road Warrior would have, due to how more de-evolved the human race is in Fury Road, or as simply a reboot. I could see it being an alternate version of The Road Warrior, because at one time George Miller did say that this is how The Road Warrior would have been made if they had the technology back then to do it.

You will go chrome and shiny.

I also watched Mad max Fury road Last night......

And to be honest, i have mixed feelings about it.

I felt the story was weak, i know i shouldn't but i was giving this a direct comparison to road warrior.

The into dialogue was extremely weak compared to the masterpiece that was the intro to road warrior. In road warrior, it introduced us to max, his past, what happened to the world and who the guys are that are chasing him. Right away it sets you up and you understand exactly whats happening as it drops you into the wasteland.

Fury road just drops you into the action without any explanation, context or background, its extremely confusing especially at the beginning. You kind of have to piece it together and guess yourself whats going on.

I didn't really like the plot, at times i felt it lost a little direction, BUT:

In saying that, mad max isn't really supposed to have a plot, or be a Shakespearean play, its about action.

Although you cant beat the real life action and real stunts of the originals, it was still great to watch. The special effects in general were awesome, the only area the CGI made me cringe was the flames shooting out of the exhausts, and i only noticed that on the Nux car (32 ford 5 window deuce). It made me think, with all the engineering being done on the car, they could have rigged up some real flamers with a spark plug and fuel line in the exhaust which would have been much better.

Apparently they were given open book, be as crazy as you want, and it was great, I LOVED the Plymouth Rock, and the cars/ tribe of bandits with all the spiked cars at the beginning, gave a great sense of the different warring tribes / cultures if you will.

I LOVED the Duffwagon, It was pure insanity, i was laughing saying the dude on guitar has a tough gig, as he never seems to stop shredding on that guitar!

In general though i enjoyed it, and there was, maybe, could have been a 240z in there in the background, which was just the cherry on top.

Rudi.
