George Posted August 4, 2015 Author Posted August 4, 2015 It Follows (2014) - An visual delight compliments an eerie soundtrack in this Indy horror that I enjoyed more than any other horror film I've seen in the last few years. It has floored me and has invigorated my taste for horror. This is one of those movies that you either love or can't wait to be bloody over. The reviews on IMDb reflect this perfectly with very high scores and ridiculous 1/10's from angry viewers who hated it. 9/10 Quote
Clockwork Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 haha, yeah i thought that was a great movie Quote
Hokin Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Winning: The Racing Life of Paul Newman http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3377996/ Great watch and goes to show it's never to late to do something as long as your passionate about it. Quote

I can tell I have to be in the right mood for it, so I'm waiting until I have some time for it. I did watch Pitch Perfect 2 (2015) It's not as good as the first one, but has many hilarious moments, especially between the two commentators. Some interesting songs done in A Capella, lots of big names in it. I'd give it a 6.5/10, definitely watchable, but not a "must see". Quote

If you're in the right mood you probably will enjoy most movies - even bad ones. Got Pitch Perfect 2 on my list as well. I really enjoyed the first one. Quote
MATTY Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 I watched the deadpool trailer I've never been so exited for a trailer! Quote
Clockwork Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Just rewatched This is England (2006). Love this movie, partner used to get into the punk scene (some may say a generation too late - but we both think its just as relevant now, particularly in the political environment that exists currently). Wish I had discovered the music when I was growing up in a small town in North West Tassie... Anyway, love the way it portrays the divide that arose among skins that saw the evolution into white supremacy views. Not sure how much existed here in Aus (I think Perth saw a lot of more original skinheads before more nationalist views took over - maybe those who were around then can give some views). Anyway, punk gigs still happen so its good to go see some music now and then.. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted September 26, 2015 Administrators Posted September 26, 2015 The Guest. What can I say? I had no idea what it was going to be about, and I'm glad. I really suggest just watching it and seeing how you react. I really liked this film for a whole bunch of reasons. Although I'm not sure everyone will see in it what I did. I loved the 80s infused soundtrack. Interested in what others think, it is on Netflix I'd rate it 8.5/10. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted August 4, 2016 Administrators Posted August 4, 2016 Time to revive this topic. Last night I watched "Eddie the Eagle". It was like a modern day "Cool Runnings" but much better. Also has an 80s inspired soundtrack. Quote
CBR Jeff Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Eddie's story is a classic. A great movie. Jeff gav240z 1 Quote
CBR Jeff Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Gav you started (revived) this. So not last night but the best film I have seen in a long time is Hunting the wilder people. What a classic. I think we watched Eddie the eagle one week and saw this the next. Two very enjoyable evenings out gathering brownie points with the boss to be used on "Z time" Quote
George Posted August 4, 2016 Author Posted August 4, 2016 Jurassic World re-watch for me. I'm a bit of a sucker for popcorn flicks. Complete with a big bag of popcorn Quote
Mr Camouflage Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 (edited) Criminal http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3014866/ Wasn't actually too bad if you can suspend disbelief of the "transference of memories" and "taking over the military network "plot devices. Lots of famous actors in it too. Edited August 4, 2016 by Mr Camouflage Quote
nizm0zed Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 (edited) Had a few stand out movies lately. EJ101 Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 I watched Stranger Things Ep1. S1 last night. Got Netflix 1 month free trial. Will have to watch as many as I can before I ditch Netflix. I like the cast. A lot of actors that were popular years ago. Good to see them back, Wynona Ryder, Matthew Modine.......... Quote
Cozza Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 While you've got Netflix, check out "Making a murderer" Well worth the watch. George 1 Quote
George Posted August 7, 2016 Author Posted August 7, 2016 While you've got Netflix, check out "Making a murderer" Well worth the watch. Enjoyed that even though it played out a little one-sided. Came across it after listening to the Serial podcast which was amazing. Season 2 was interesting but not as good. http://www.npr.org/podcasts/399957726/serial Quote
Dionysus Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Marco Polo is one of my Netflix favs.. About to start season 2 Quote

Administrators gav240z Posted August 8, 2016 Administrators Posted August 8, 2016 bloody hell, Stranger Things has hooked me. Bloody Netflix!! Haha, the missus and I binge watched the whole first season over the weekend. It's a good series so far, despite taking lots of ideas from other films in the 80s. I do wonder where it will go in season 2. Quote
Six_Shooter Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 Batman V Superman... Dawn of whatever, I don't care...TERRIBLE TERRIBLE movie. Some good action at times, but very hard to follow, even in the extended 3 hour version. Made no sense, would not recommend watching, other than MAYBE to get SOME backstory on future Justice League movies if they ever come out and you care...2/10 (being generous) Still AliceGreat movie. Drama about a well educated woman who is affected with early on set Alzheimers. Some pacing issues, but overall a good drama. 7/10 Hardcore Henry Interesting concept, better than I expected. It seemed like it was written as an FPS video game but adapted to a movie instead, just so much of the action and story seemed to be like a video game. I rather enjoyed it. 7/10 Quote
Hokin Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 Finished watching the first season of Mr Robot. It started off really strong and got a little weak towards the end. I've been told season 2 brings it back to life a bit. Quote
George Posted August 15, 2016 Author Posted August 15, 2016 Saw Hardcore Henry a couple of weeks ago. Wonder if it was filmed with GoPro's...? Watched Criminal over the weekend. Big name actors but it was a hit and miss affair for me. Not too demanding on the brain so a good way to relax for a bit anyway. 4/10 Quote
