I let the pics do the talking And the deserving part. Congratulations Greg on a deserving win. Awesome to be part of the event and thanks to Vic guys on a great welcome to 5 z nutcases from SA Ps: not the hose story, and sand f*^#%+ sand everywhere

Like Gilltech said auto no biggie. Hardest thing is finding the manual pedals. The rest is easy thanks to huge variety of old nissans used L series engines. 280zx box or 6cyl skyline. U can even put rb20 or sr20 gbox with help of l series bellhousing. So l box could be blown u just need bellhousing. The rest of stuff is relatively easy , flywheel, clutch, master and slave cylinders. Possible tailshaft as well but not certain.

Ryan i buy my stuff from crashsupplies george st stepney i think. Orob bit far from you. ask Paul he will have a better idea near you guys. Regarding that rust under spot welds. 99.99% of monocoque bodies out there even new car will have that. The cars are welded prior priming. I Guarantee you u unspot any section it be the same.its due to welding process. Only way to avoid is to glue it lol. Porsche and german up-market (bmw, merc etc) cars put special glues or some sort of guey stuff between panels prior to welding. Its conductive so it still welds through and seals it so moisture cannot get in. If even wondered why these cars cost so much this is one reason. I have never came accros jap or any other manufacturer do this besides BMW,mercedes and i got a porsche manufacturing dvd that they use glue to increase strength of the chasis and to reduce corrosion where welding happens. Its not just a pretty body with powerful engine and big brakes that demands cost body manufacturing is lot more stringent and higher quality. Stupid fords and holdens these days dont boter even sealing the folded joins on the panels. They be rusting like crazy in few years. Cost cutting. At least jap cars still do that. So dont get too concerned over that otherwise start unpicking the entire car and use the german process to re-build it. You be around 50y old but time you restore your z and say 100% rust free and will never rust again. Though saying that ill be using similar guey conductive thing on my rails and under car and wherever ill be replacing panels. I noticed on s15 around rear wheel arch they used some sort of rubberised sealer And still welded through. So they do it but not entire car just on strategic locations.

not sure what rules in other states but in SA exactly same as QLD two inspections ID (repair check and parts check) second mechanical check entire car mechanically and plus repairs. need to pass both before its regod. cost for both just under $800 and inspectors are damn strict in both cases. but cars that are 15yrs or older don't get WOVR or under certain value. my Z got written off but i kept the wreck its not on WOVR. i can still register it even if it doesn't exist. but have seen older cars go through auctions with WOVR sticker. some insurance or some dimwit screwed up somewhere. Statutory write off only for parts cannot be re registered unless it can be reviewed under special condition ie prestige and low volume cars. so if u have a bent lambo and it stat write off you still can jump few hurdles and have it regod. Be a bitch to sell after wards. some cars that are damaged within first two years pending on policy u get a new car. hence u see occasionally few cars at auctions with very minimal damage almost just cosmetic. but the WOVR is still on it. and if u wan to resell the car after the new PPSR check that cost $3.80 give that info out as well as finance. 95% buyers will turn around and avoid it. unless your car is 30% or more reduced in value to a comparable non WOVR listed car. Because of few dishonest people everyone got shafted from crash shops to dealership and wreckers to hobbyist. I've seen some crazy prices at auctions on certain cars. makes you wonder who took the parts in first place. Don't blame them for making the laws. reduced the theft rate and stolen cars being resold.

Well than and you qualify croatian/serbian/bosnians are worse than greek and italian. They give everything to their kids deserving or not. Hehe Than dive into a z two seater but may have to lift ur price a bit for a regod one. I just sold a project car 240z close to that money 2+2 do pop up and as a first car the tiny rear seats will Come in handy. Just ask some of the old farts here that had them In the 70s hahaha
-
yeah Im like you EvilZ. But Simon does have a point. lets say you have a 240Z make it look like whale shark and than put a motor out of 1950's 6cyl Chevy. yes its different yes its his car and he likes it. pitty 99.99% rest of population hates it. therefore not cool and huge fail. But your cars are different you like it and so does everyone else = WIN and Cool im sure we different here and have some good ideas of our own which will be different in US and makes u even cooler no idea what i just dribbled above hope makes sense I seen the detailed pix of your fairlady Z and its cool. like exhaust temp warning light , different clock, seats, engine,240kmh speedo (no its not like our 260Z ones) just to name a few put up a build process here we would love to see its progress from sad neglected to a stunner like your other cars.

Would you buy this if u had 75k+ to spend on a car
Fairlady Z replied to Fairlady Z's topic in General Discussions
bit of an update on this particular car. confirmed genuine and few thing here there not from the right era but it is fixable ie seats and few small items from later Z.. At the moment it has been pulled of for sale owner want to drive it after it has been rebuild. my details are with the guy and most probably be for sale end of next year suits me well. In mean time time to save up and fix my other cars so if it goes for sale again im ready to pounce. -
regarding write off that's not a write off don't accept it. get quotes get indenpendent evaluator to vlaue the car. the car value top of my head be 15-25K pending condition and work done. and i hope u have shannons or decent insurance compant/policy. never making that mistake twice. PM me for details. mate gone through the same thing having same issues and still going so brace yourself for a long stressful painful few years ahead. not trying to scare you just to prepare you.
-
welcome to my world 3yrs+ after accident still battling mate. still same issue. pain killers, chiros physio's god know what else i tried and not much improvment. been told will never be as I was. :'( big tip. GET A GOOD LAWYER.... and don't wait too long get it going asap.
-
5k for punishment lol yeah 10K i can see it. if he has pics of the work on the chassis. Is the delete properly deleted or plastered? the rest of the car look ok beside that front treatment and stupid motor. i guess 2-3K to sink in it may be good car.

Sorry Mick he needs to remove the "1" Infront of his price to be able to make it worth while. 16.5k for a holden red powered whale shark is bit too exy. If was normal z would be sold looong time ago for that price if was so clean

Just buy a early 2000 falcon or commodore, pulsar, lancer, swift, astra. Once you destroy/thrash/pimp/smash that and have 15k saved up than start looking for a z. Best advice ever trust me unless your dad is a full mechanic, panel beater, spray painter greek/italian background and willing to give everything to you (like they normaly do around SA) than yes. Good luck.
-
That z is embarasment for SA. That thing has been for sale longer than that orange on ebay for 36k. At least the ebY one is nice this thing needs eyes on windscreen a dorsal fin, tail and we have some wierd whale shark thing. 5k at most as it will take constant puking to remove that engine and body mods.

Ok bit of an update actualy more of show off the goodies recieved from aus post santa. Got the l28 turbo valve cover ex USA not bad on my l28 turbo mock up. On order is non webbed intake with larger TB and l28ET exhaust manifold. After i missed modified naps manifold with 70mm single TB by 0.50c sucked To run the show got v4 wolf rd ecu. Todays santa delivered me this ex japan l series adjustable cam sprocket. Not sure if needed but sounds cool Also in the same package got few other goodies. Some genuine weather strip kits Some second hand gear Now you prob ask why did i buy that from japan besides the antenna the rest was $30 without postage. Not bad $12 for manual pedal box lol. Best for last Watanabe have arrived the original classic one from the 70s Stick out a fair bit Add some flares and perfect. Was worried that need wider flares for the wheels. Wheels are front 15x8.5 and 15x9.5 not 10 as i thought. Luckily They did come of a 240zg so perfect fitment. Plug for Jesse Streeter. He is absolutely awesome. Top notch service and absolute legend. For people that have or think they have issues with Jesse need to stop take deep breath and f relax. I had no pressure on him besides throwing 20+ links a day for last 5 weeks. Items well packed and helps out in every aspect to save you coin. Btw hes heaps busy at the moment but when ready highly recomend him. Also ordered the 5 pce g nose kit from otomoto. Cant wait for that too. Also 10/10 so far for communications from Ben. Other work nothing much. Busy wrecking my s15 to make more room and clean my workshop.

Awesome Mick, told you 4.3 will make u smile. Just dont drop the clutch hard at 6000rpm from stand still they tend to do almost instant 180deg turn if not quick enough. "I bet he will try that now lol"
