  1. Be interesting to see how the Z Car Club's Zeds go this time around, most of them have improved a lot since the last QR showdown, particularly with engine power. Plus we will have real lap times by Natsoft for all to see.
  2. Mike is going to detune his Zed so it's back to Sc spec power, just so he knows what he is in for when the orange one breaks cover August eh? I might be up for this
  3. Yep, what Peter said. Seriously.
  4. The other point about all this is the cost of buying a new car and then watching it depreciate in value over the next few years. So whatever the reason for buying, a new car ls one of the quickest ways to lose money around. And let's face it, most people don't really need a new car for practical reasons no matter what they say. I was going to say more but reckon that the above gives some perspective to the points the OP has mentioned so no more is needed.
  5. Looking good, yep, gotta stir the neighbours if only to get them to appreciate it when the engine is switched off
  6. We now expect that the rest of the car will be brought up to the standard set by the new quarters
  7. Really for a racecar using a ZG nose is a no brainer like anything else that makes the car faster. The 'open mouth' look of the S30 creates a lot of drag, compare it with the aero designed S130 and the drag figures published by Nissan. Glad to see some 'young' blokes starting to think of going faster with better aero, just goes to show not all them are stuck in the 80's
  8. Great adventure, good to see pommys doing it in a Z car too
  9. Seeing that the ZG nose and flares were together a factory aero improvement package, definitely go for the lot Richard. Looks great and it works, what's not to like.
  10. How about revealing your lie on PF that I'd tried to fight you Jason? And that the Z club blokes saw it? Underneath the rubbish you are a sad case, karma and all that. This is the sort of personal stuff that I'm sick of, particularly when it degenerates into lies. So I'll get personal just to show I can. You are a joke with that S30 and the price you are asking for it, someone actually asked me what I thought so I gave them an honest opinion. Which only confirmed what the inquirer thought and he is not the only one. It's a pity that you seem to lack the ability to be a genuine person, after the PF blatant lie I would not trust you an inch so wasting my time like this has it's limitations.
  11. On the subject of bog and panel preparation, a few years ago a couple of us looked at a S30 that had been left out in the open for years. At first glance it looked hopeless. But the owner was a pro painter who had gone overseas 'temporarily' and had repainted the Zed before he left. Underneath the dirt the body was in amazing condition, hardly any rust. It just goes to show what can be done if the job is done right.
  12. Notice lately that no one else chimes in to give advice on these topics? I don't blame them, I too am sick of Jason's know-it-all rants, we all know that he has a Sc Zed that has sat in a shed for years and has been for sale forever. So much for racing Zeds lol. Anyway I'm out, the mods seem quite happy to let him use this forum to incessantly push his own agenda and to 'discourage' other points of views, all I'm interested in is fair and frank discussion without the personal rubbish. As I guess are most normal people.
  13. How about considering what the OP is interested in Jason instead of you and your agenda as always? I post what I know and don't fudge figures or anything else to suit.
  14. All I try to do is help the OP by mentioning the broader picture, rather than solely concentrate on one specific class. Tell me what the problem is with that and where is my self interest? Anyway, having a car that can be entered in many events is quite different to having a car that is specifically built for one class of event, that is what I was getting at. Of course you can enter a Sc car in lots of events but being competitive is quite another matter. Most people who race want to be competitive, you won't be in a Sc Zed if the competition is reasonable from what I've seen in Q. Of course favourable events can be cherry picked to get a trophy if that is your thing.
  15. Jason's usual Sc sales pitch I see, suggest checking what actual Sc racing is available in your proposed racing area eg interstate travel? In Q last year there were three Sc race events, that's it. Also a Sc car will be relatively slow for any other racing or sprints, plus you may find the Sc rules too restricting on performance for you. The trend when still using the L engine, in Q anyway, is to use sensible mods and a more powerful engine which can result in quite a fast Z which is still basically a Z. Much more fun, much more challenging. Perhaps join a Z car club too, nothing beats chatting with blokes who are out there doing local motorsport in their Zeds. Good luck and please keep us informed on any progress
  16. Lead Foot Festival? Better tell us more about that. In General?
  17. Why are we here if not to do all that and more
  18. This thread is about historics, is that what you are only interested in? If not it might be an idea to start you own thread and be a bit more specific about what motorsport you are interested in and your approximate budget.
  19. Always interested in Zed incar vids Richard, stick em up. As for the SF, he just got the line a bit wrong at Hungry I reckon, for those of us who have lost a bit of brain processing power over time but the right foot is still good then then there is an awful lot happening around that part of the track.
  20. Wow, I'd be spewing if my Z was left out like that. Yeh, keep the car, take it somewhere else.
  21. Must say that I've found my incar videos very useful, particularly the ones where there are other cars around you. Sit back in front of the puter with a beer and see where time is made up and lost compared to others plus lots of other useful and sometimes fun info. Any reason why you MP blokes don't use them Richard Jnr? Recently looked at the one where the Silver Fox ran off at Hungry, bloomin heck was he hauling round the back under the bridge. Damn shame he went off because he was heading for a PB for sure.
  22. You blokes are getting plenty of power now, all you have to do is translate it into lap times. Oooops, who said that Unfortunately power and lap times can't be discussed on this forum with any sort of civility, too much tender ego or something.
  23. May as well get one of those Kiwi sequential shift boxes too, blow the expense
  24. Just to help anyone who is thinking of getting into racing a Zed in Q, public service announcement if you like
  25. Far as I know there were only three circuit events for all of 2014 which specifically included Group S. Which in my opinion makes having a Group S race car not the best option if you want to race a Zed in Q. And as you have experienced Jason a Group S Zed is too slow to do other circuit motorsport at anywhere near the sharp end.
