  1. For any bits you could try advertising in the classifieds here for start, as far as doing things to the car make sure that the shocks are good otherwise the ride and handling will be disappointing.
  2. Brilliant, thanks for all the great pics
  3. Looking forward to this even though I don't have an operating Z. Probably just as well otherwise the Super Zed would get me unpopular
  4. Dat son of mine Nissan Cedric? Nothing real, just a bit of a ramble.
  5. The only names my Z gets are swear words which something is not right.
  6. 500+ Kw Blow that, I know my limitations Reliability with no nasty surprise will be good though, not much worse than a engine which can't be relied on.
  7. The reason why I suggested a lubrication failure was because of obvious big end overheating and it's common with a lube failure to lock a bearing or two which then starts a chain of destruction which usually involves con rods. But a bit of a guess just going on pics of course. Any relevant data?
  8. Nasty, very nasty. Looks like a lubrication failure.
  9. Apparently some were at the recent Time Attack, no point in dragging all that aero around unless it earns it's keep. Apparently T1 is pretty intimidating and quite a few get it wrong so obviously it ain't easy.
  10. Love yah Jason, always good for a laugh Zed is in storage Aub and not in competition shape either. Miss not having it to look at let alone not being able to track it
  11. I'm with you and have found that other motorsport competitors are more likely to be on my wavelength as far as car looking and talking goes. Besides, having the Zed sit in the sun cooking it's expensive semi slicks does not appeal at all.
  12. Well put your cars out there and show them, there is always someone up for a chat. It's the car way.
  13. Good on you, enjoying your car in your way is what it's about surely. My bogan comment was directed at those who mostly favour non Japanese cars which is fine too, just different from what many Z car owners do. There is no right or wrong, to each their own which is what I understood this thread was about.
  14. Bogans don't own Z cars, better get a Trana or somthik loike tat
  15. Part of it is that dedicated show cars are used mainly for that purpose and not many Z cars are dedicated show cars. Another is that like a lot of performance car owners we tend to get together with our own tribe. Rather than mix with the bogan trash, even those bogans with money
  16. Once things settle down for me then it's likely I'll look at getting the present V8 280ZX log booked as a Sports Sedan, after deregistering it and adding some bodywork extensions to run wider wheels. Of course it's never going to be competitive against a proper Sports Sedan but it would be able to do the Top Gear races and still be eligible for sprints which opens up some options.
  17. Great video, aren't you supposed to go flat through turn 1 though?
  18. Continuing on from here http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,7698.15.html FYI the 280ZX 2+2 is eligible as is the Z32 2+2 but the Z31 2+2 is not. No cast iron guarantees, as always check yourself but this is what my research shows.
  19. Did some checking just for fun, the 280ZX 2+2 is Group 3J Improved Production eligible for sure, could be a good way to get into racing with something that has some real grunt. Still checking on the Z31 2+2 which is a bit difficult because it would have to pass the cabin measurement check and I have not been able to find those. Anyone know? The Z31 would be interesting because of the range of aluminium V6 Nissan engines available although not all of them may be eligible for use. Maybe I should start a new thread on the IPRA subject.
  20. So the 2+2 would be eligible for Improved Production then? If so it could run RB30ET/26DETT donks. Interesting, I always wanted to play with that semi trailing arm rear suspension, BMW got it to work well.
  21. So what's been happening, particularly with Group 2B Marque Sports Cars? Noticed that the 280ZX is not on the list of eligible cars because I suppose no one has applied. Reading up on the 280ZX turbos in the US which put out 700hp, could spin the wheels in fifth gear and regularly beat the turbo Porkers sort of got me wondering about the 280ZX turbo in Australia.
  22. "my special vested interest report" that may be the way you do things Jason but all I did was report back on what potential visitors were interested in, the questions were asked in public at the farewell dinner so there could be no shenagins. There was a lot of interest in drag racing but I understand that is not happening which is a pity because it was the younger blokes who were interested and we should be catering for them as well as for the old crusties.
  23. The information given to me at the last NDN in Victoria, where I gave a public pep talk for NDN15, was pretty clear as to what sort of track the sprinters liked, all included in a written report at the request of the PreZ ZCCQ. Went to a fair bit of trouble to do all that so I have a bit of a vested interest in what's going on and what circuits are going to be used. C'mon Aub, you are a member of the three member NDN committee so you are much more than just a mail man.
  24. No interest in NDN15 sprints? And here's me thinking of entering.
  25. Seat, steering wheel and other controls, sound and screen. It's called a simulator Jason, very sophisticated ones are used in F1 and for pilot training/testing.
