  1. Basically all the plastic from the B pillar back and the roof liner, it's the tin top model. Will have to be picked up, the bits are too big to fit into the boxes I have otherwise I'd keep it in storage myself, no picking and choosing either because it all has to go. $100 the lot, it's all in pretty good condition, PM best.
  2. Sounds like a good one, any repaired accident damage? It would need to be straight to get top dolla.
  3. What's with the ABS panels, sounds like a great idea but also sounds expensive. Seeing that non metal panels are available off the shelf.
  4. James Flett engines are the ones to get in Q but for sprints, very little Sc Z racing here.

    Advice

There are driving courses and there are driving courses, make sure you get one where the car will be evaluated too and where you get plenty of in car time with the instructor. Some are prepared for you to go for it, others get 'uncomfortable' if you do that. I found that reading helped a lot but that depends on the individual.
  6. Weight should be pretty good but a full transmission to handle power is not light. With the VG30DET a few years ago it was about the same as Wilbur's RB30ET 260Z, lightened by about 50kg since then which does not include the lighter alloy V8.

Yeh, look around for any of the above in a non runner and in poor visual condition but with a sound, straight body. Preferably with some performance extras like coilovers, bigger brakes and so on. Poor appearance and not running are the two factors which bring prices way down.
  8. Balls, balls and more balls You becoming a 620ZX fanboy Jason? Sorry, no passenger seat = no passenger rides
  9. Z is with the pro now to finish off, exhaust is going to be a twin 3" into a single 3.5 with a resonator and a straight through muffler. Made extractors too simply because it's very tight on the driver's side. I'm getting excited
  10. Including the word 'motorsport' may stop the inclusion of all sorts of TV programs?
  11. Sounds like a good idea for a cruiser, warm toasty seats, yes please.
  12. Seems like a good buy, no ZX lovers in WA?
  13. Just about ready to go to the pro to be finished off. All the front stuff is done except for the radiator to be dropped in and then hoses selected and fitted. No problem there, the local spare parts place will let me look through his stock of hoses. PS oil cooler hose to be fitted and one PITA thing, the alternator pulley does not quite line up with the others so I'll see if a auto leccy can help there. LS3 is a series four engine compared with the LS1 for example which is a series three. Different heads and a few other tricky differences which I've learnt about the hard way. Fitted an underdrive crank pulley, see pic, the other pic taken in artificial light in the garage shows the front - engine and PS oil coolers, Accusump, Nissan PS oil reservoir, throttle body and so on. The crank pulleys are just a press fit, not keyed, which means the degree markings on the underdrive pulley were not aligned with TDC.Bummer.
  14. Link does not work for me.
  15. Bidding is up to $39,100, it must be great but you blokes can't see the value
  16. Yes they did but were a completely different engine to a stock VG30ET which has a very restrictive head design which can't be improved much by conventional means. NISMO heads are a completely different and way more effective design requiring custom inlet and exhaust manifolds, at one time I would have bought a pair if they were available.
  17. Engine is in and all bolted up, Mr Fussy said that the gearbox mount had to be improved so that has been done. Lots of little things attended to, like putting earth cables onto the starter motor and engine block, made up an engine bay wiring loom for all the non ECU stuff like for temp and oil pressure sensors and alternator wiring. Everything has to be done leaving room for the exhaust which is tight on the driver's side. Hope to get the power steering pressure side line and the tailshaft tomorrow which means that the PS pump can be fitted which will allow the pre throttle body induction bits to be mounted, then the radiator etc which will be about it as far as my part goes. Pics next time when there will be more to see, cheers.
  18. Problem is with the yanks who actually believe their big numbers even though they make no sense. VG30ET was a good example of nonsense power claims, apparently because some of the race engines back in the day did do big numbers. With huge boost, NISMO heads which are completely different to stock and so on. I've had a few goes at them but they believe what suits them to believe, their old clunkers develop more power than a modern GTR or P car turbo.
  19. Quality takes time son.
  20. Why is the Chev more popular, are there any particular weak points with the Ford?
  21. Oh dear, after doing some measurements it became obvious that the big twin plate clutch would not fit due to the TKO gearbox input shaft and bell being too short to accommodate it. Looks like it fits the six speed box only so it's been replaced with a single plate job from Direct Clutch rated to handle over 500 WHP. Just hope that I can push the pedal in This clutch uses a concentric throwout which has the slave incorporated into it, see pic which shows the flexible bleed and input lines. Plan is to drop the engine/box into place next and bolt it all up.
  22. What weight distribution is a tough one, with a lot of power my preference would be to have more weight back to improve acceleration out of corners, Porkers illustrate that. May as well throw this clip up of Callum chasing a GT3 at Lakeside, 1.45 on
  23. Mine is the now V8 project two seat 280ZX taken a couple of years ago exiting Eastern Loop, Lakeside. It is one of a few a pro took that day, the one below shows the inside front wheel lifting which is cool.
  24. Reverse light switch clears OK Peter but there is one thing, no nuts for the two terminals And I have no idea what they are. Certainly not metric, near but not 3/16". Any idea? Would have been cheaper going with a Nissan NA V8 Matt but they don't make the power or have the power potential that the LS3 does. LS as well is light and compact, lighter than the VG and should give about 50/50 weight distribution. They have a lot going for them.
