  1. Why bother asking? If you are that keen on the 17 inch image then you can't be concerned about handling. How many V8 super cars or F1 cars do you see with 1 inch profile tyres on huge wheels? I'm not against big wheels, they do look good but I would never sacrifice my handling for that look. You have to choose one priority over the other, you can't have both.
  2. Mate, don't be scared off. If you like the car just get it done. Take it to an engineer and get the mod plates. then you never need to worry again. Why does he think it will be expensive? Depending on the number of mods you should only be up for a few hundred to the engineer.....unless he is expecting the engineer to insist on further mods before it is compliant.
  3. I have tried searching but surprisingly I didn't find anything that answers the following for me: What is the most you can bore an L28 before you start risking hitting oil and cooling galleries? I believe a standard L28 runs 85mm pistons in a 86mm bore giving a 1mm gap (diameter). What is the maximum gap that can be run? (I have 86mmm flat top pistons, whats the maximum bore I should consider)
  4. Its the old 80/20 rule.....80% of the zeds are owned by 20% of the enthusiasts...Just look at the list of cars in people's profiles So just find someone who's wife has had enough and start bugging the heck out of them.
  5. what, she didn't fall for the bow on top of the car?
  6. Warren from Allzed used to have the insert from behind the handle. If not try Black Dragon.
  7. If all else fails I do have one.
  8. Thats great Scoota. I'm wondering if the bolt patern for the R31 brakes are the same as the series 2 280zx? Anybody checked? Anybody know the distance between the centres of the bolts on the R31 rear calipers? If its the same I won't need new brakets.
  9. Nice work Mike. It must be nice to have a running L series again
  10. last post = Feb. You must be so busy on the car you haven't got time for an update. Surely that means you are finished
  11. fibreglass is opaque so I don't think it will allow the scrutineers to scrut your lights. I will have a play with perspex and let you know the result. I'm interested to try it anyway.
  12. Buckets aren't an issue. I have checked and I do have pleanty of spares I can offer. The blinker panels are a slightly different story. I know I can offer at least one but not sure about the other side. I will have a thorough look and let you know. I might be able to make some headlight covers too. I have some fibreglass ones that we can use to bend warm perspex over??? ITs worth a shot.
  13. I have a set of flat tops with the manifolds. You can have them for $15. I recommend you replace the flat tops with the round tops when you find some but at least this would get you going. Its up to you.
  14. Welcome, Sounds like a great project you are undertaking. If you mean the early style twin SUs set up (round tops) they aren't overly rare but they're not common either. Just keep your eyes open. If you mean the flat tops they are as common as grains of sand...ok maybe thats a slight stretch. Neither are overly expensive, again just key your eyes open and your should find a set for under $100?? Make sure it is a matched pair. Yes they work very well and are worth the effort. They are not quite as powerfull as DCOEs and not as fuel efficient as EFI but they are a good allround option. It should wiegh well under a tonne all done you say. Well good luck with that. What do you plan to strip to get the weight down to there? That is quite an optimistic target. Is it to be a race car or road registered? This information would assist us in giving appropriate advice.
  15. Hi, Normally we don't bring costs into these discussions but in this case I think knowing how much money you have tied up in the car would help us give appropriate advice. For example. if you only paid $1200 for the car then you have a fair chance of recovering your costs just by parting the car out. Another option would be to purchase another roughy and make a good car out of the two. But if the car is reasonable I would certainly check the hurdles required to get it on the road. Pictures would also help.
  16. I'm not worried about payment. I have a few lying around. I might also have some of the blinker panels from under the headlight buckets. Let me check. A couple of weeks would be fine.
  17. Matt, I have some spare headlight buckets if that helps at all. Not sure if I can help with anything else though.

Yeah right....I'll believe you. Thousands wouldn't Thats why you are building a 300HP engine he he
  20. I'll come around with my angle grinder
  21. How urgently? Next weekend OK? If so count me in.
  22. For sale is an R200 open centre long nose diff from a 260z. The case looks a little rusty but I have no reason to believe there is anything wrong inside. The shafts spin freely with no sign of backlash. I would prefer local pickup but you might be able to convince me to package it up for a courier. I have not drained the oil yet but would do so before handing it to the courier. I am after $70 ONO (Plus any packing and courier costs) Thanks Greg
  23. Excellent suggestions, and great timing too. At least I have some things I can try over the weekend. I will advise on the result.
  24. Yeah but I thought that would be better than starting a brand new one and having people say ...go check such and such thread.
