  1. I might not be the tried and tested path but it sure is unique with the 45s. I vote to keep the configuration and just tidy it up. It would make one heck of an interesting car.
  2. Had it been out of your sight.....maybe a mechanic or something? My nephew had an incident with a mechanic doing burnouts in his car and only found out because a friend saw it all.
  3. yeah baby! but I think you should keep the soft focus for your porn shoots.
  4. It may well be worth the $25K but I just think it smells a bit. 31,000miles over 40 years is only 775 per year. I only drive mine on 1 out of every 4 weekends and I think I would do that in 10 years. Particularly in Cowra you only have to go to the next town and back and you've done 100. Plus the question has to be asked why would someone who hardly drives the car bother to do an engine upgrade? Having said all that even if its done 131,000 miles it might still be worth $25,000 if it is in good enough condition.
  5. If you believe those miles I have a bridge to sell you.....I think that by quoting those miles people will automatically think the owner is lying and would not want to hand over $25K. Begs the question what else is he hiding? No offence if it is someone here but if it is I recommend removing those miles. We all know it is what the dial says but how many times has it been around the clock?

    QLD events

Guys there are a few events coming up around the Brisbane area: There is a Khanacross on bitumen at Willowbank on March 20th (But you have to be a full member of the Holden Sporting Car Club QLD (It is only $45 membership and hardly anyone actually has a holden). There is a hillclimb at Mt Cotton on 2,3 April. Then of course there is Lapz at the Lake on 21 May at Lakeside. I am hoping to do all three.

    Spotto Sydney

Not me. I've only had mine out a couple of times in the past few months.
  8. I'm not trying to be a wet blanket but I think you will struggle to get anywhere near $10K for a LHD shell with rust. The same car in RHD would only fetch about $4-5K. $10k can get a complete and registerable 2 seater requiring some tidy up. If there is something special about this car let us know because it will improve your chances.
  9. Oh and another tip. Keep your eyes open. Occasionally a really run down zed will come along for $1K or so. It would take a heap of effort to get it up to scratch but it is the other way to go. But the risk is losing interest part way through the resto. Have ou worked out how much you can save in a reasonable time? That would be really useful information for us to give better advice. Another useful piece of info would be whether you have your heart set on a 2 seater or whether a 2+2 or even a 280zx would satisfy your zeditch (I just made that word up)
  10. Well the world is due to end in 2012 and a good 240z is around $20K I figure being 17 you probably have a disposable income of around 50c per week. So in the 20 months left on this planet you will probably have around $40 so the answer to your question would be.......no! But seriously when I was 17 I was asking myself that question about way more humble cars than a zed. You really just need to take it one step at a time and not make too many stupid mistakes in life that are likely to limit your chances of success. One example......Don't buy some Cr@p box and spend a billion dollars or you'll never get to your dream. Good luck
  11. I can't comment on that particular 280zx but generally they are a good car. I have owned one for 18 years and would not part with it....In fact I am wondering what it would take to be buried with it / in it :0 They are given a hard time because they were not quite as light or fast as the 240z or 260z 2 seaters (in standard form) and the 280zx shape wasn't quite as popular. Mechanically the are just as solid if not more solid than the earlier cars but they just don't have the same attraction. I much prefer driving my 280zx than my 240z on the road but much of that is because my 240 is a mild race car. Make sure to get someone to check any car before you purchase. 280zx prices range from a few hundred dollars for a wreck up to around $11K for an immaculate one. So unless that one is a bargain I would expect $3K to buy you a barely registerable car and expect a few problems. $4 or $5k would buy you a much more reliable 280, but the only way to know is to have someone check it.
  12. Wow, so my zed that doesn't have a VIN at all must be really desirable.....well once the quarter window and steering column are fixed
  13. Like has been said before it is your choice. But I like more traditional themes. Have you thought about a East Africa theme? You know the tan with black bonnet.
  14. There is a Motel on Gympie rd at Petrie. I haven't seen inside by it looks cheap from the outside.
  15. So I went into the shed yesterday to grab my primer etc to paint some parts. When I picked up the tin of primer I realised it is now a hexagon!!!! How weird. The top and botton are still round but the sides are hexagonal. I don't mean just rough indents. I am talking almost perfectly hexagonal. You couldn't make a better hexagon if you tried. It was totally cylindrical last time I used it. Obviously this is due to changes in temperature and thus the resulting pressure. How come none of my other tins experienced this result? Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this feature?
  16. Stephen King??? Shouldn't that be "Parts Cemetary" then?

    Dipstick?

Having thought about it a bit more the length is not so important. The critical issue is the distance between the rubber stopper and the full mark......if the tip of the stick is in play you have BIG issues!
  18. I'm keen. Already Emailed my interest to Dusty.

    Dipstick?

any chance you have a stroker? My thinking is the dip stick might be from a L28D but I am only speculating.
  20. There are a couple of aftermarket conversions floating around. There is at least 1 red 260z 2+2 convertable that was in Vic a few years back and more recently here in Bris. I haven't seen it for a couple of years though. I am not sure if there are any close enough to attend a WA photoshoot.
  21. Here are mine. The one in the Blue Car is Kara. The one in the Landcruiser is Bobby.
  22. Just a bit of a quiz. What do people think this car is? I saw it in a car museum at Forbes the other day. One hint, Its not the obvious answer (Lotus). If you actually know the answer please hold off at least a while because I am interested to hear some guesses.

    Driver's side door handle

I have one if you don't find one closer.
  24. The direct answer to all these questions is "no" However the suspension may be worth selling as the 1600 boys sometimes use them....god knows how.
  25. Can someone provide a simple explanation of any advantages of a "small" intercooler over a "Large" intercooler.....Does it give less lag?
