  1. If it came with a shirt saying "I paid $15,000 to Auzrun and all I got was this lousy T-shirt" I'd be in for sure...
  2. Lurch, Originally the zed Tom Cantwell races belonged to Neil Cartledge and from memory he built it over a period of many years. That zed can't be mistaken for any other zed...I've never seen one even close! (Dry sumped Motec EFI L28 with a weight of around 780 Kg's!!) Gordon Dobie moved to a factory in Elna St in Moorabbin after Beach Rd and I think has retired. Workshop is still there but neighbours say he's only seen randomly. Got some more pics of it..just have to play with each one in Photoshop because each scanned image is around 11.5Mb. He kindly lent me his photo album to scan and post them on this site.. Oh, and those mirrors did come on it from the factory! I asked him about that!
  3. Are you checking all the cylinders with the color tune? Some cylinders may need a little extra fuel than others; Not all cylinders are equal. Unless you have cc'd the heads etc.. If it wants a slightly richer mixture just for the idle, I think that should be ok.
  4. A "bare metal respray" should never have the old original colour underneath! Looks like those side of the road $800 specials. The point in the lower part of the windscreen still has the outline of the guard in yellow paint! ie panels weren't even removed when it was painted. The indicators weren't even removed...I'd be going through the entire car again so you know its had a bare metal respray.
  5. One thing I know is you can't have the words "240Z" and "poor" in the same sentence. Unless you are a panel beater, mechanic and autoelec all rolled into one, you will need a fair bit of cash to restore! Good luck though, you might find one out there somewhere....
  6. Well, when I'm all cashed up again, I'll be making an order! Looks very similar though....
  7. Hhahaha...yep..two rubbers!
  8. I know it's an old posting, but when I had my suspension bits sand blasted, the guy who did it happened to have a pic of a zed hanging on his office wall. It turned out he used to race one in 1973 when he bought it new and in all the pics he showed me, showing it evolving from a standard zed with all the body roll to a 300 Hp, bored / stroked, triple 48mm Dellorto monster! Later on, it was sold to Gordon Dobie who kept racing it for a while... Just thought others would like to see some Australian zed racing history...
  9. Right now in Melb it's just dark with some drizzle... But I can't do squat without some bump stops for the front struts. Almost got all the suspension and brakes back in! And now with a cold, it's even more enjoyable...
  10. Yeah, my employer subscribes and gets it in the mail....When I picked up the mail last week I saw it but unfortunately it's sealed in plastic so if I open it, he will know its been looked at! Don't want to find out if he hates that..need to pay my house off first! Then read it
  11. Well, I was running 17x8's with 225 and yes, guards had to be rolled...even on the front! When I had 15x7 with 225's that was ok but with 8" rims, its a definate!
  12. Sorry Gav, I had it modified to become a single system after the diff then I sold the system when I installed the RB engine as that system was to big for a 2.5 liter engine. I'm thinking when my L24 is installed to do the same twin system again! A member in the NDSOC, you may have heard of him Dirk Verslys (I hope that's the right spelling!) has a very sweet twin setup similar to my original twin on his animal of a 240Z that sounds sooo chunky, I would love to replicate that! I do have his number so when it comes time to do the exhaust, I have to see his system and what he has used...I remember it wasn't that loud and sounded great!
  13. Ive always like the twin pipes either on the left side or just straight up the middle; I had the latter for all but a day, had to change it because it was just way too loud. Asked the exhaust guys to build it out of 1 3/4" but they decided to use twin 2" pipes. Still looking for a good place that actually listen to what you want... Another favourite was just the single 2.5" or 3" on the left but for me the do NOT do is the cannon muffler...Just cheapens the car that little bit.
  14. Yer that was my post but unfortunately its a late 76-77 with the "D" style latches. Rev's after the earlier latch. There was somebody on here wrecking a 260 here on the forums; He may have them still. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,4400.0.html
  15. As the title says, after the linkage part that connects the two carbs together; I have one from a pair of 1 - 1/4" Hitatchi's but it's not the same as the 1-3/4" carbies rod. I would like to see if a rod from a crappy set of flat top 260Z carbs if anyone has a set sitting around, oxidizing away they would like to part with. Please let me know...Thanks!
  16. I bet next week...maybe two. Maybe he went out and bought a red VS? Driving on South Rd and saw a zed he thought of buying....was pissed at this forum and ran into it!
  17. I'd go to the police first..illegal to drive off after an accident! Agree with Fufu......
  18. I think he wants us to buy some of his "Refrigerated water filters" Pretty lame attempt at advertising...
  19. If you want to test the gauges, just remove the temp sender (the yellow wire under the top radiator hose on the thermostat side) and attatch it to any metal on the engine. If the temp gauge starts to move all the way to hot, gauge is fine but sender is stuffed or poor earth. You can check the oil pressure gauge in the same way. Its that round thing with a wire coming out of it next to the oil filter.
  20. Ooohhh...you must be covered in Goose pimples now!
  21. Welcome to the forums and can't wait till your finished with the conversion! If I wasn't so poor I would like to try one more engine conversion with an 8... But that might have to wait a while...Also, what sort of inlet manifold is that on your L6 engine? Looks like only a twin Weber setup..Never seen one before. Let me know if you want to part with it..hehehe
  22. Or worse still being seen on "Today Tonight" doing burnouts. Best left to the already ruined Skylines, Commondore's and Foulcans..
  23. Where do you get that foam from? I wanted to play with the nosecone filled..
  24. ABC Hobby I know are the only ones who make 1/10 bodies of the 240Z and ZG. Didn't know they made complete cars as well.. Should find a dealer around here!
