    por 15

Hey Mossy, I don't think you'll find any paint savvy people who would recommend POR15 for your external panels. One of the reasons being that to get the surface of the POR15 prepped to recieve primer/topcoat you would have to sand the crap out of it to get a flat paintable surface which would remove much of what you put on. secondly you CAN NOT apply any filler over POR15 you must have a bare metal substrate for adhesion without shrinkage. In essence if you have your metal prepped right with a 2 pac etch, then primed/putty/primed topcoat/clear, moisture will be unable to penetrate to the substrate to allow sweating and rust to develop. remember the paint that we have these days is far superior to the semi porous stuff that our cars were painted with 30+ years ago so much more able to protect the metal beneath. Hope this helps. rev.
  3. Yeah, I'm envious bro...the faaaaastlady sure is living up to her name! Rev.
  4. I reckon it will look tops when it is all one highly polished color!...anyhow with lurch behind the wheel it will all be just a blur as it screams by! rev.
  5. Demetri if you could find out if Stan can look at it because I need it for my other build. thanks Rev.
  6. Yeah...what Lurchos said, but the other weird thing is that I feel that I have more grunt taking off from a standing start, I felt it used to 'bog' down a bit, but yesterday when I took it for a good spin it 'seemed' to perform better! Rev.
  7. Thanks to a very tall gentlemen with a huge smile we were able to wrestle the old gearbox out and replace it with a 280ZX box which seems to be running very smooth! now to get the old one fixed! ready for the other Zed i'm building. Interesting that when we drained the oil from the 260 box it had some rather big bits of metal flow out....that can't be good! anyhow thanks Lurch you're a rare breed these days bro! Rev.
  8. it's a great cause, prostate problems are a pain in the butt Rev.

I think it's time to give the thread back to Stef, Oh and XA1973 it's called self control...there's kids interested in Zeds that read the forum and really won't be helped by reading your post. Rev.
  10. Full on! we had stuff fall of the wall, I just thought that carlton brewery must have added extra hops!
  11. Hey guys, had an interesting morning driving my son to the train station! I had to get beyond some traffic so I really wound it out in 1st gear and then as i went to change into second it didn't want to come out of first. When i decelerate quickly there is a 'clunk' noise and it's only then that I can get it out of first gear. All other gears seem O.K. When the car is turned off, if I put it into first it is still stuck! any ideas? could it be clutch related or as I suspect something in the box has let go? Rev.
  12. Does anyone know the procedure to fix this? Mig welder! ...otherwise check your adjustments on the latch mechanism to see if it will pull it down tighter. rev.
  13. Don't apologise, I think you've earned the right with the great service you have been providing, keep it coming. Rev.
  14. Angelus, no one knows you or your dreams for life better than you!, you know what's going to pay off long term, you've experienced life....so whatever your dreams are...just go for it! life isn't a practice ground for the main event, it's the real thing. Rev.
  15. If you are looking to nail down some performance issues especially carb work you need to see Daniel Moore contact details 98082590 shop 0409167866 mob Rev.
  16. Thanks Alan, I gave Rankins a call and am going down tomorrow to get a quote, I'll let you guys know what happens. Does anyone know if insurance companies let you do the repairs yourself? Rev.
  17. Just been to 3 panel shops down my way who said they wern't interested in even quoting? said they only do newish stuff, anyone got any ideas? Rev
  18. Shannons told me I need to get a quote for repairs....any ideas? Rev.
  19. I don't know if insurance covers it, I guess i'll ring shannons tomorrow and see what they say.
  20. Well you wouldn't b......y believe it..but someone found some great joy on Sunday night by putting dents over almost the entire drivers side and some of the passengers side of my Zed! I didn't notice it as I drove home in the dark Sunday night and only realised the damage today. It looks like they have smacked their fist or knee into it in probably 15 places. I guess I just needed to vent as I am really disappointed, a lot of hours have gone into getting the Zed about 98% finished. I might just park it for awhile and think about what to do next! Rev.
  21. Good on you glen, great to see you moving forward and excited about the future plans for your Zed, I'll look forward to keeping up with your progress. Rev.
  22. Hi Glen, are you still getting the other L28 built? I thought that was the plan, what made you change to RB? Rev.
  23. Hey Col, welcome to the forums. I think a very well sorted 2+2 with Reg and RWC could easily fetch the 12K, but it would have to have upgraded carbs, immaculate interior, manual and either a low K or recon motor. If it presents right and you can be sure that it hasn't had a truck load of bog in the usual rust areas then you might be on to something. If you are looking to buy a Zed that you don't have to really work on then you are looking at the right price range. Rev.
  24. Looks like Lurch has remembered everything....Oh hang on I just re-read his post and he forgot to pack his Bible! ...Oh, can't find it? call in on the way past I've got a spare! Bwhahahahahah Have a great trip guys. Rev.
  25. Redbook is as about as unreliable as the Melbourne weather is at the moment, it might be used more by the insurance companies than any legitimate guide to a cars value especially a car that is 30+ years old. I worked in the car industry as Sales manager at a big dealership (many moons ago) and we used to laugh at Redbook back then! There are a few 2+2's around some half reasonable but many are pretty untidy hence variety in price if you put that together with supply and demand you can get quite a variance. I've seen some tidy 2+2's go for as much as 10-13,000, these prices are for a clean (not concourse) pretty stock standard vehicle, for a 2+2 that is modified and Roadworthy and looks the part it won't be long before we see them reaching past the 15K mark, all this is only my opinion and observation though! Hope that helps. Rev.
