I'm right in the middle of making big decions (at least for me) as to what to do engine wise. I have a current l26 that is a little tired yet amazes me what she can still pull off on the highway! Some have said the only basis for a rebuild is an L28 because of the added displacement. I have 2 X L26 Motors and I guess i figured that if the L26 is still a good prospect to do up a bit (not sure what that means yet) then I could be working on one while still driving the other. I am keen to get underway with this project as I also want to be converting to 5 speed when I do the job. I have appreciated all the feedback so far since joining the forum and I hope that the knowledge out there can help me in this decision. Thanks

Hi Ash excuse my lack of knowledge but the mechanic that was talking to me about rebuilds etc said that the 'valve seats' in l26 motors were really soft and therefore not such a great prospect for rebuild, I didn't really get it! I'd be happy to talk with you more about other possibilites cuase I'd like to get going so that I can do motor and manual conversion together.

hey Modular 9, maybe my naivety payed off, i hadn't heard that about the flares. Seem to fit pretty good. I bought some nice channel rubber from Clark's which really helps the finish between flare and guard. I will post another pic from the rear soon.

Koopa, may not be as crazy as you think depending on price. freight companies who like to fill a backload often bring stuff to oz in a container for reasonable prices, let me know price and location via PM and I'll get back to you.

Hi Guys I am after an L28 Motor for a rebuild or will consider a Motor that has had quality work with receipts have up to $2500 for the right motor, am also in need of 240z carbs or what you might recommend to couple with an L28 for grunt but still able to use as a daily driver. Thanks

Thanks to all of you guys who recommended a visit to a top 'zed doctor' in Daniel Moore. Not only is the guy on the ball but he is honest with his costings, work and advice. To contniue the journey of my project however, I need to find an L28 motor and 240z carbs if anyone has something for sale please let me know, I'm in a buying mood. thanks again for the great advise from guys who have been around the zed much longer than I - I'm trying to move from zombie through newbie in this great fun exercise of rebuild and restoration!

Hey guys as a still 'newbie' to the whole viczcar forum I thought I would post some pics of my piece of heaven on Earth! It's not often I get the time to get 'hands on' with my project but purchasing some flares from Ash recently had me really motivated. My bro who is a wicked sign artist just laid down some new matt vinyl stripes which has kept it in the 'old school style' that I love. Interior is complete and I will post some pics of that soon, I get most of my stuff from the U.S and will be heading back soon for another trip so if you are after anything that can be boxed up and bought back as luggage ....let me know! Hope to make it to the next vicz car event.
