  1. I am wondering if anyone has ever run duel weber carbs? I have a fully rekitted pair of Weber 32/36 DGV carbs and matching manifold and K& N Filters, I also have a nice set of 240z SU's and when we drop the new motor in (2 weeks time)I need to determine what the best option will be. The motor build is an L28 that has been fitted with flat top pistons, (hopefully) streetable cam, portmatched, balanced and blueprinted there's probably more stuff but I can't remember! If I go with the SU's I need to get them rekitted or the other weber's are ready to go....can anyone help with this?
  2. toecutter...you're da man!....if only I had thought of that first! Went down to Mayhems shop today and he fixed it in seconds!
  3. I thought that the excess water consumption had to be going somewhere! I found it today in the form of an oil milkshake...the head gasket must have blown! My problem is that my new motor should be ready to drop in within 2 weeks, my question is will it keep going that long? does anybody have any tips on keeping it going or should I just pray! Rev.
  4. Hi Guys..need some help as my brake lights won't GO OFF! I don't know if I did something when I reassembled the rear, but they were working fine initially and now they're on all the time. I've checked the switch at the break and that all seems fine....I'm not sure what to do next? If anyone knows Mayhems number could you PM me as I will take it to his shop if I can't fix it. thanks .....Rev.
  5. it took me a minute to focus my attention as I was really admiring that rear spoiler......I wonder if it was a carbon fibre piece of fruit that robbed Adam & Eve of their innocence? nevertheless no use entertaining the devil on this one ....my wallet couldn't afford it! REV.
  6. Hey Lurch, It sounds like you got yourself some work, that's fantastic, keep us posted as to how you are doing. Regards, Rev.
  7. Hey Dave, Not sure about the rules in regard to bumpers, but I recently (last week!) redone my rear end and it has cleaned it up great. you can check out the process I undertook in the general forums titles 'holiday fun' Rev.
  8. I had to take a double look at this one...I thought it may have been a snap shot of heaven....I guess I was wrong cause a couple of em are rusty! Rev.
  9. Hey Sulio, sure is! it's a 74 2+2 very original except for the rust! it has a reco 2.6 and it will be a great first car starter for him, with the pleasure of doing a lot of the repair work himself. Rev.
  10. and it's not over...keep an eye for my sons post (dzeyene) as we began cutting and welding his floor today....if I was an average welder before I should be excellent by the end of this one! Thanks for the encouragement....I kinda needed it after a marathon 4 day rear end makeover...I didn't even get time for a beer before I got put to work on my sons project....go figure!
  11. Hi Ritchie...If you pull the indicator lever toward you your High beam should engage, do it again and it should return to low beam. With your dash lights, they are a bit dim however make sure that the knob isn't just turning on the shaft of the switch as mine did, it may have further to go. Your interior light globe you should be able to get from auto pro, repco or the like....hope you'll have as much fun as I have with my 2+2! Rev.
  12. Well It's finished! what do you think?
  13. If we share info like this everyone benefits, Lurch helped me do my springs that I could never have done so..... this is paying some of his kindness forward!
  14. Hey demitri, what do you mean when you say" So if you want to use flat top pistons and a N42 head, expect to hear a lot of anvils being hit under your bonnet! :-\
  15. Here's a better way than importing or trying to find tail light gaskets D.Y.I! We went to Clark Rubber and bought some high density rubber in exactly the right thickness, retrieved the old gasket, made a template and off we went....fits perfect! Also found Clark's had an almost identical inner hatch rubber which was way less expensive than scotts or rare spares...worth chasing these things out...saves $ Rev.
  16. This is a good comparative shot.
  17. Well it's always fun when it gets to paint time! today I finished off some areas around the inner hatch, then primed, sanded and knife filler, then spray putty, guide coat, sand1 last spray putty and sand......and then.....Color! 4 coats of color and 4 coats of clear being careful to thin and fade into the existing paint. All in all while I didn't plan to be doing all this I'm happy with the end result. I will post final pics after I wet sand, buff and reapply stripes.
  18. Hey Maddos, Yeah, my son has an old 260 that we are butchering for his resto and mine...the amazing thing is that when I went to cut a piece for the bottom of my rear quarter the donor was rusted there as well, however I cut a piece from the rear valence and it had the exact shape I needed...some would say luck, I would say the Lord knew I needed it....I'm glad there won't be any rust in heaven! Rev.
  19. Day 3 of holidays! - today's creative bogging went pretty well......I think! I built up layers of bog and used a large cheese grater bog file to get some nice even surfaces, finished with sanding and now ready for spray putty, primer and finish tomorrow, I'll be glad to get her all fixed up and back on the road.
  20. Done craig! I've welded up everything, now for some creative bogging (not sure that sounds right!) hope to have that done today! Rev.
  21. Hey Bruce, I'm self taught out of necessity! I recently purchased mine on EBAY for$200 (new) and it seems to work well. It has the ability to take gas as well, however so far I have been running it without and using the appropriate welding wire. I'll have a look at the specs of it and post it tomorrow. I welded years ago and just practised a bit and the result so far isn't too bad and it's a whole cheaper than getting someone else to do it....hope this helps! Rev.
  22. Uhmm....well it has been an interesting day! I thought I had finished cutting...only to find MORE! anyway after a full day cutting, cleaning, removing pieces from our donor car and stacks of welding, I think I've at least got the rear end back to metal! I've even got a great sun tan from the Mig Welder....what more could you want! Tomorrow I will hopefully get to some grinding of welds and slight skim of filler (I hope) here's a few pics of today's journey.
  23. Hi Guys, Well first holidays in over 3 years so I thought Uhmmm better find something to do! I thought I need to fix some very small rust bubbles (these are like the ones you read about in car ads) well I got started and it didn't take long to find HOLIDAY TERROR! My zed had at one time in its life had a small bingle in the driverside rear...problem is they must have taken it to a deaf, dumb & blind panel beater! It was never done properly and it has been rusting away under the bog for years! I'm glad I found it now but after removing a 500 X40mm piece of her rear, now the big job starts. While i'm doing this I'm going to remodel her rear end, weld up those big round holes (not sure what they are for) bumper mounts and give it a nice smooth finish! will post pics when she's done.
  24. Great choice of wheels, looks great. A couple of guys have been asking what flares on a 2+2 looks like and do they fit....well they fit mine no problem and I reckon they look great. Rev.
  25. Sorry Lurch, Definitely would have been there with a little more notice, Hope you have a great night. Thanks for all you have done to help me with my Zed, I appreciate it heaps. God bless you bro! Rev.
