  1. hey sulio, ben and I will be there on thursday, Mayhem helped me with the electrical issues and the thermo fan goes on in the morning, if temp can stay right we are there! I won't have the triples on but everything else is a go! Rev
  2. Hi guys, after putting the new motor and gearbox in I'm left without any blinkers! don't know if i disconnected something I shouldn't have when I unplugged all the mess under the console, thought someone might have an idea for some easy troubleshooting before I whip it off to Mayhem to look at it? Rev.
  3. Man that water wetter is like liquid gold $30.00 per bottle! if it helps it's worth it! Also bought a thermo fan which gets fitted on Monday. Drove the car again today and stalled it at the lights....forgot it was now a manual!
  4. Thanks Dimitri, do you have your thermo fan mounted in front or behind the radiator as I've seen both. I can't see how I could fit it behind though?
  5. Thanks guys....I drove the car for the first time today, after the radiator had been done and it still went over 1/2 way on the guage....I'm going to try a thermo fan tomorrow to see if it helps. Would it be running hotter because everything is so new?
  6. Thanks Lurch! Craig I hear what you're saying about it not getting to hot, where would I get a bigger radiator? when I took it to the 'flushing' guy he said mine had already been redone and was a 3 core! or someting like that. Would appreciate any ideas in this area as I'd hate for this to be the last sticking point. Rev.
  7. Hey guys just thought I'd throw in a quick update with a few pics to follow later! The gearbox conversion has happened and the new motor was dropped in yesterday! I heard it running for the first time today and it was nothing short of AWESOME, I didn't know an L28 could be that lumpy! it sounds like a V8 (craig might disagree!). Would have driven it home today except there was a bit of a fuss about how hot everything was getting so the radiator was sent away to get 'flushed', I'm told that I should have it back on the road for the weekend. I've got it running on the SU's cause my Mikuni's are stuck in customs! (maybe they're worried I'm smuggling in bibles!) they should get a run next week....can't wait! it's been 5 weeks since I've driven the Zed and life hasn't quite been right! P.S I am in need of a decent valve cover if anyone has one! Rev.
  8. Hey Brabham, Good spot! here's some history of Solex/Mikuni: Solex carburetors have been made under licence by a number of companies including the Mikuni company of Japan who supplied them to auto makers including Toyota, Mitsubishi and Suzuki as well as to various Japanese motorcycle makers. Mikuni originally entered into a licensed manufacturing agreement with Solex in 1960 and further developed many of Solex's original designs. In this model of 44's the Solex/Mikuni are absolutely identicle.
  9. Hey Sulio, they are 44's!
  10. the new carbs set me back AU $1000 landed at my front door, which I reckon is reasonable buying compared to what I've seen in Aus! They haven't landed here yet but when they do and I'm happy with the quality I'll let others know the source. This guy reckons that he has quite a few of these setups come through his shop. Rev.
  11. good one craig! I never let my 'gingers' anywhere near the bowl! :-\ Most of my upgrades have come through some frugal buying and selling of stuff that I buy through auctions, honestly on my pay alone with 5 kids my zed wouldn't have even got into the driveway! I work about 60 hours every week putting into the community and I reckon the Lord just loves to bless me with bits for my Zed! Rev.
  12. I'll get you guys rejoicing over greater things than these yet! See Lurch I did listen! I scored these ones out of the U.S with the exchange rate the way it is, now is the time to shop. Yeah I will put it through a dyno....My son showed me a couple on youtube the other day which freaked me out a little, one car blew up and the other nearly slipped off!
  13. Hi Guys, well after lots of thought and input from a couple of you guys, I have gone down the path of triples! Just thought I'd post a pic of the new setup....should be going on the new motor within the next few weeks. Rev
  14. Hi guys, I'm selling off some of my carbs, they're listed on ebay however if someone from the club is interested I'd take them off, anyhow have a look. I'm now going triples and have just purchased a set of mikuni's ..... YAY! Rev http://cgi.ebay.com.au/240z-260z-carbs-with-chrome-air-box_W0QQitemZ260257562276QQihZ016QQcategoryZ33549QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com.au/WEBER-DGV-32-36-DATSUN-260z-240z_W0QQitemZ260257562659QQihZ016QQcategoryZ33549QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  15. Thanks to those who have checked their stock of bits and pieces, I now have one....on with the job. My new motor is supposed to arrive Monday (although I have heard this promise 3 weeks in a row) apparently something to do with the 'special' grind I ordered on the cam (Lurch if you read this does that sound right?) anyhow I'm trying to get it all done and finished by the meeting at the jag club! Rev.
  16. Hi Guys, Well I am almost through my manual conversion (pics to follow) however I found when i bolted up my new slave cylinder I am missing the push rod , this is all I need to finish it, I asked nissan and they laughed (literally!) If anyone has one I would appreciate it. Rev.
  17. Hey guys, without hijacking the forum, I'm not sure where Scootag is going...maybe he can elaborate! I don't think Dzeyene was asking too much seeing that Sulio and others have already taken the triples route using a variety of carb setups. It has always been my thinking that this forum/club has grown so well because of the desire of its members and adherants to freely share information so that people don't make the same mistakes and save money in the process. Rev.
  18. or....you could be reaaaalllly thankful that you still have your car....and move on! The world is full of people with values different to ours and for everyone you seek vengeance for another one has sprung up to replace them! So...hop in your Zed give thanks to God that we even have the most superior car on the road.....and lay some rubber! Rev.
  19. Thanks heaps Scootag....I'll have a look. Rev.
  20. Guys, Mayham is indeed Mayhem who's name is Ben and a great guy with some awesome knowledge of electricals and the like. Rev.
  21. hey Sulio, Ben and I are definitely trying to be there, but with my L26 in ICU and my L28 rebuild still in the shop it's going to come right down to the wire! The new motor was meant to be fitted today and has been postponed a week, we have to try and drop the motor in and the new 5 speed conversion in a day as thats all a mechanic friend has time to spare....so I'll just trust the Lord on this one! Rev.
  22. Guys....I'm in a bit of trouble my new motor and gearbox get fitted this week (Saturday) and I still can't source the part I need which is part of the manual choke. If anyone has any webers of any sort with a manual choke could I borrow/buy the part I need. I've been to a number of carb shops with no luck. Thanks Rev.
  23. Thanks Demitri, if you get one give me a PM otherwise I will keep looking. Rev.
  24. I'm missing the part in the pic! I think it is one of the linkages that is part of the throttle body (which opens the butterfly part in the carby throat)it is missing the small spring and attaching piece,
  25. Found out I am missing a small piece of linkage for the Webers does anyone know where I could possible source Carb Parts on the S.E side of Melbourne? Rev.
