  1. Well what an awesome day! sun shining and the smell of polish and the sound of perfectly tuned motors! Went along to the Cora Lynn Motor Show and entered the Zed which sat alongside 700 other cars with mine being the only ZED! We should do it next year as a club meet it is an awesome drive for the Victorian guys and a great opportunity to showcase some Japanese muscle Don't know if I placed for a trophy (I doubt it!) because I left before that part of the day, anyhow it was a whole lot of fun and had some encouraging feedback about the Zed. Car Show

Thought about going up to the Cora Lynn Country Car Show tomorrow (Sunday 5th) , It's 10 minutes South of pakenham if ny one is interested. The address is Cnr main Drain & Nine Mile road Cora Lynn. It's for all cars up to 1978 and an attendance of over 500 cars is expected. I'm going to enter the Zed just to see how I go....be great to see some other Zed's there. Rev.
  3. played with my mikuni's today and put them onto a new manifold that I got from BenZed and it's awesome! with new linkages from Wolf Creek Racing, they're almost done...think I need a new accelerator pump in middle one, as I have noticed it doesn't pump as the others. Also played with polishing up my standard linkage that comes from the firewall with outstanding results. When are we going for a drive guys? I am also in need of a new shroud for my radiator fan....can anyone help?
  4. I have to streamline it a bit as this was the prototype, will let you know over the next couple of weeks whether I get it exact and what kind of cost. Rev.
  5. Hunter is right but only for the 74 and some 75 models beyond that they ditched the vinyl and went carpet right through. Rev.
  6. How often have i got into my Zed with a nice latte/extra shot only to find nowhere to put it! (except between my legs, which of course presents its own set of problems!) so I thought of an idea that would allow me to make a new console with DRINK HOLDERS that would just slip over the top of the existing unit....here's a few pics with a before and after. Rev.
  7. There is a company in Dandenong Victoria who produces them, I bought one and was pleased with the result. I'll try and dig up there name. rev.
  8. I'd sure give it a go, I was thinking about redoing mine.... let me know.
  9. Uhmmm I think I've got the build it 'bug', had an idea on a small storage 'pod' a while ago that wouldn't infringe too much on the hatch area. A great place to keep some tools, extinguisher, fuel hose etc, so I thought the area between the rear shock towers were perfect for a storage/tool pod...so I gave it a go. This time I also attempted upholstering by cutting a pattern and sowing and then stretch, and staple (no! I don't sow, but I've got a great wife who loves the 'zed'!) I also had a my first attempt at embossing a 'Z' logo into the vinyl and for a first time effort I was pretty pleased, would appreciate some feedback on what you think of this idea as a interior mod for the Zed. rev.
  10. Thanks Michael and chris, keep your eyes out as I attempted something else today as another cool interior mod, will post a little later on!
  11. I went to Bunnings got some great black hex head self tappers with 'Z' on the head, can't beat that. (cost me $5.00 for enough for 4 flares!)
  12. It would be good to get some dimensions from a 240 & 260 2 seater as the rear end differs from my 2+2, if anyone in Melbourne wants a hand to make one or wants me to make one for them let me know and I'll find out the exact dimensions of that rear panel in those 2 models. Micheal let me know if you are interested as you proceed with your resto and I'll see what i can do. Rev.
  13. hey hunter, it's a port and a tweeter on the side panel. I'm actually thinking about having a go at making one of these in Fibreglass that way it helps cut down the weight (although the one I made isn't that heavy) you could then simply cut out whatever holes you need and then upholster it in your own choice of material.....! just an idea thanks for your encouragement guys...I love to create stuff that others sell for big prices ...just to prove I can!
  14. and the finish
  15. Well after seeing some posts from Stevo and others regarding a rear mounting system for speakers etc, I got to thinking....who needs the YANKS when we've got great Aussie thinking right here....so I had a day off, had a go at drawing up some plans and well....here it is...it turned out pretty darn good! Might think about taking orders and a whole lot cheaper than $250-300 landed in Oz from the boys in the U.S...it's all in a days work! Rev.
  16. Hey Dimitri....It's a 260 box...sounds like a 3.9 is the way to go.
  17. It's ALL good Lurch I feel kinda privilaged actually having a 'prescribed' setup!

    3.9 Diff

Since the manual conversion and the 'lurch' specified cam it seems that to get me off the line quicker I'm going to have to swap out my diff, any ideas of what I should do? should I be getting a 3.9 or something else, is there any other easy options in the Nissan range that I could swap in? would really appreciate some feedback on this. Rev.
  19. Interesting article....It just so happens that I spent 4 hours today working on my valve cover....almost there!
  20. As someone who is doing quite a bit in this area, let me tell you that an angle grinder with the 1mm Metal cutting wheel will eat through the metal that rapidly that there is very little heat build up and I have never seen any 'warp' from this. The other benefit is nice straight cuts with a clean work area ready for welding. Everyone has an opinion but take it from me this is the easiest, most cost effective method you will find. Rev.
  21. looks great Steve, job well done. Rev.
  22. Interesting that the pressure seemed to be up this morning...probably because the oil is thicker when cold...a bit like me! I'm going to change it tomorrow!
  23. I saw this one this ARVO! These are the only times that I wish I was living back in the U.S
  24. Not sure Lurch as the mechanic who put the motor in would have done that, perhaps an oil change and good grade of oil? It will be going back into Daniel shortly for work on the miki's so will ask him also.
  25. hey guys, thought I'd post a few pics from the latest cruise (it was only me!) couldn't resist this spring weather, except for the sightseers traveling at SLOW speeds. Was an awesome day with a couple of opportunities to 'let her fly' on the way home! had a nice time pushing it through the gears with 6000rpm in 2nd with a quick shift into 3rd and then......BRAKES as I nearly wore another sightseer as a bonnet emblem who pulled straight out in front....thank the Lord for the brake overhaul last week, however I think my son may need new undies! I did notice however that my oil gauge was showing what seemed to be low pressure, I've included a couple of pics so that someone might be able to compare with theirs. The first pic is pulling in 2nd gear at about 2500rpm and the second in 3rd gear pulling 4000rpm.
