  1. Hey Sach, Someone was telling me last week that an electronic dizzy doesn't require the vacuum advance, mine is running without vac advance! Hopefully someone else can either back this up or give clearer advise. Rev.
  2. Fantastic Michael, you are doing an awesome job, keep at it even though you may not be getting all the time you want, you are still making awesome progress. Can't wait till you're on the road and cruisin with the club. Rev.
  3. Thanks Dimitri, battery is brand new but perhaps the starter is an issue, how do I test that?
  4. I'm not sure whether to be worried or not but my new motor seems to be doing something a little wierd! sometimes when I go to turn it over it only just wants to turn over (almost like battery is a little low, except it's not!) it then turns over once and then seems to turn over properly....any ideas! problem is I am already having a fight with the rebuilders who put in incorrect lashpads and rockers etc (which thankfully were fixed by a pro) but now they are saying I have voided any warranty because someone else touched the motor (would have helped if they had of explained that when I picked up the car!) So I guess any repairs I have to make from here are all out of my pocket.....! starting to wonder if it's all worthwhile Rev.
  5. thanks to all for help and advice with my brake dilemma. turned out i checked all brake cylinders and all O.K so took a punt and replaced the master cylinder, bled all wheels and master and......now I can stop again! and the best part is I did it myself, I think I've learned more in the last 2 years about cars than ever before. Thanks again to the generous donation of ideas, tips and tricks. and special thanks to Mayhem!
  6. Hi Andrew, i'm happy to help you out by attempting to fabricate something, if you want to take a pic of the repair so that I can see if it's doable? Rev.
  7. Hey guys I'm running sportsmax rims and they are fantastic even my tyre guy who has a lot of experience with wheels and mags said he was impressed, they balanced up perfectly and look every bit as good as other stuff. Steve think about getting a staggered set, I'm running 7" on the front 8" on the rear both with 245 tyres and it is lighter on the steering than it ever was with the original wheels Rev.
  8. Brabham, click on the additional options tab below where you type your message then go to browse and locate your pic file (make sure it's not to big) click open and then post. Rev.
  9. Thanks Dimitri...I'll get under and have a good look tomorrow. I guess like anything this one is going to be a process of elimination. Rev.
  10. Hey Micheal, great going man, you are plowing through your rebuild...TOP EFFORT Yeah you definitely had your flares a little low at the rear, it may take a little playing to get them just right. I attached mine with pilot holes, hex head self tappers, a little sikaflex to stop movement and went to clarke rubber and bought some channel which made a nice neat seal. Keep going!
  11. I'll do a bit more checking on the MC, Sulio can you give a bit more info on your suggestion and also what makes that brake light on the dash come on, is it pedal travel or some sensor? Rev.
  12. Yesterday had an interesting driving experience! as I attempted to stop at traffic lights what I normally call brakes instantly turned to 'sponge' and almost didn't stop me! from that point if I didn't pump the brakes, the pedal went almost immediatly to the floor, I also saw the 'brake' light on the dash come on for the very first time! everything looked right with fluid, and no fluid that I could see at the wheels (leaking) could this be booster, or vacuum or ? REV>
  13. Hey ben, Sorry to hear about this.....but keep your head, if he feels he is following the letter of the law, you should do the same, grab some stat dec's and get these RWC people to make their statement , these things DO hold water in a court process. He's actually probably got 'ZED' envy! and because he drives around in his wife's Barina and......yeah I'll leave it there! If there's anything I can do?....in the meantime I'll pray! Rev.
  14. I'm surprised that nat0_240_chevZ didn't write his entire diatribe in CAPS cause it sure sounded like he was yellin! all I can say is 'chill'. It's a car, it's someone's opinion,it's what one likes and another doesn't whether it's the 'main mod' or not is irrelevant as far as I am aware Gav doesn't lose his right to speak because he is the moderator and he certainly didn't let his 'opinion' become personal. I enjoy the advise, banter and even some of Lurch's tongue in cheek humor but the way that you have written Nat0 is in my opinion a little harsh. Only my thoughts....I could always shut my piehole too! Rev.
  15. Sold to Rev! Thanks Ben
  16. Yeah, I kinda guessed that the whole syncro thing was the problem, I'll keep it crunching for a while until I sort out some other stuff, like getting my Miki's running sweet! thanks for the heads up guys. Rev.
  17. After my recent manual conversion everything has been great except i'm getting a real 'crunch' when changing back into second, and unless I get the revs down it doesn't want to go in! could these be the syncros on that gear? Rev.
  18. Fiberglass may not quite have the strength of CF but it also doesn't have the price tag. Fiberglass is an easy fix if you chip it, scratch it or smash it in two! I think I've done the lot and my front spoiler though repaired twice looks like it is brand new! Rev.
  19. Hey Scott, when I attached my flares I used sikaflex adhesive and some very short hex head self tappers that actually have a 'z' on the head (available at bunnings) this way you avoid the whole nutsert stuff and they are easy to get off for repairs by unscrewing the self tappers and using a saw motion with fishing line to break the bond of the sikaflex. hope this helps. Rev.
  20. My chamwoir arrived.....awesome!
  21. Hey Sach, I ran chokes on my Mikuni's, came up with some great answers for attaching them etc, only to find that once they were tuned right I didn't need chokes after all! As the other guys have said after about 30 secs everything ticks along nice! Rev.
  22. Check this bargain! http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Datsun-260Z_W0QQitemZ120292253450QQihZ002QQcategoryZ2030QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Well, if prices keep going like this we'll be able to flick our super funds and just buy a few zed's like this one! obviously a once in a lifetime investment at this price!
  23. Hey guys, I'll take up the challenge! if anyone knows where I might get some 240 rear lights I'll post the whole job on the forum. Rev.
