I wrote this last week for the kids in our Bushfire memorial service and thought I'd share it here. Beauty for Ashes I love this country Australia, the way it was, the way it is, and the way it will be, It’s a land that’s had struggle, it wants to be free but since the fires, I’m no longer me. Why is it that the beauty has faded and everything’s grey, the stillness, it’s lifeless, all changed in a day.. The noise, the smoke, the fire...it’s all around, I don’t know where I am, I feel as scorched as the ground Dad you’re my protector just stay with me here, mum, bothers & sisters...I hope you are near Where are you all...I can’t see you... I’m lost in a world turned upside down, the smoke from the gumtrees is all around It’s like night has come early, it’s black... yet it glows...my life...my future, my hope seems to close But wait...I’m a kid...The futures too bright..I’ll awake from these ashes with all of my might, There’s someone coming...I see his shape...it’s a fireman...Like superman minus the cape. There’s my brother and sisters and mum and dad...The fireman’s face looks dirty and sad I’m leaving this place where I call home....no place to be free...no longer to roam. I woke up the next morning, I was scared, I could smell smoke...around me the blank faces of all kinds of folk. I wanted my dog and my cat and my bird, but no barking or animals were to be heard, Only the crying, only the silent conversations filled with pain. I looked out at the people, so tired and sore I was afraid they would break if they had to take more Why do I feel all melted inside..My tummy in tangles...my eyes sore and red, here as I lay on the ground for a bed. But where are you God? I’m real angry at you...can you smell the smoke up in heaven too? The man from the Salvo’s said all is O.K....he said God is alive and it’s a new day.. People are sad, how can we cope? yeah..well I'm kinda past the age of peer pressure ...but if I do decide to sell it, it would be better as a manual!

I'm using the L26 from my previous project, the motor was reco apparently 12 years ago, driven 300km and that's where it sat until I got it 2 years ago...I have had it running and it seemed to run OK but I guess time will tell. It has an auto trans with it however I am playing with the idea of doing another manual conversion and I have been offered a 280zx box for $200, I've got everything else, pedals etc...I have to make up my mind if it's gonna be a daily or not, that may make the decision in regard to transmission.

I was fortunate enough to see another Zed brothers Ebay parts update in Sth Aussie which put me onto these nice 15X8 Sportsmax wheels which will look nice tucked under the new beast.

Thought I'd better get the next project up and going....this replaced another 2+2 project that was 80% done as that went to a new home this week to be finished off by a mate of mine who has just entered the world of zeds! As some of you know this was one of those amazing finds that I thought everyone else found! but nevertheless by keeping a vigilant eye out I came across this beauty which is one of the cleanest Zed's i've seen. I bought it minus the motor and trans and now the fun begins. I have a reco L26 that will go in with 240 SU's, reupholstered interior, nice wheels and lowered and will probably become my daily....time will tell. Anyhow today I stripped most of the engine bay and found no surprises (great ) went in and primed, black laquered up to the rails and then layed down color (Nissan classic white)...I love the clean look of a white car! hopefully Motor in soon and then the fun begins with hooking it all up as I've never done the engine side of things before! Hey guys, We have all been deeply affected by the tragic events of recent days and it seems every one of us knows someone who was a victim. Many of us have been left with a huge sense of unbelief and overwhelmed by a deep grief we find difficult to understand let alone express. To assist our community give expression to their grief and find hope in the midst of despair we are holding special services at 10am and 6pm this Sunday – February 15th. Uhmmm....sounds like some great input from many of the members of this forum, for my part I bought mine original and one owner with all the history etc, I have done the motor, manual conversion, sports seats, new wheels etc and it's worth more now than it was before! But to me, who cares? I didn't buy it to sell, I bought it to have as much fun as possible, if I ever sell it and get less than what I think it's worth I'll just deduct the many hours of fun from the total and still be in front Rev...and boy it's hot...time for a beer!

If that car makes 5k I think it has done well, interior looks like it needs a makeover and if he has mentioned 'rust in usual places' that also would need to be taken into consideration. The better the prices the better it is for any of us who are selling. Godd luck with your search and don't jump at the first thing, I know you may want to get in and buy...but the deal for you may be just around the corner! One of the members of this forum has a good 260 for 6k, maybe you should talk to him and see what you can negotiate, his avatar is Lurch and you can PM him. Rev.

yeah Craig the driveline has not been re installed. He had stripped some of it with the thought of producing an electric hybrid thing, however he found that there was a lot more to it....So I get the chance to bring her back from the dead.

O.K well I've picked it up! with the help of a mate (new Zed owner!) and my son we towed the new zed 2km home and the good news is that it's cleaner than I thought . So the resto on this one starts as soon as the weather cools! P.S just wondering if the Zed ever came out with factory chrome skull door locks!!!!

O.K ...so I went back around today to grab a couple of pics and thought I'd better double check a few things! rails and underneath are absolutely perfect! Uncracked dash, perfect floors,great front seats, and the body apart from a few small blemishes is fantastic...Pick it up thursday night! Rev.

Razz, if it's running the flat top carbs they have a habit of vaporizing fuel and not wanting to start! if you combine that with standard points ignition, you can end up with a car that doesn't always want to start. See if you can get some 240 round top carbs, they are set and forget! rev.

I'd better go past tonight and get some pics...it seems my integrity rests upon it!

Don't really know yet bro! Just couldn't let it go, I guess I'll get it home and make some decisions! I've got to get the 74 2+2 finished, all of the welding is done, everything is at spray putty stage except doors which I will hopefully finish this week. I may end up having to sell one...guess i'll just wait and see!
