  1. Well I guess i'm destined to be the savior of 2+2's! driving to work this afternoon (2 Km from home) I just happened to spot out of the corner of my eye a zed parked in a garage with the roller door just up high enough to see the unmistakable front end! I couldn't help myself I turned around and went back, knocked on the door to introduce myself and met the owner. he informed me that he had bought the car with the idea of turning it into an electric car but had lost interest. He'd already sold the motor and transmission but everything else was intact and in 7/10 condition and apart from my Revzed 2+2 is one of the cleanest I've seen (rust etc). As a joke i said to him that if he had really lost interest then give me first offer on the car if he decided to sell, didn't take him long to take me up on the offer and it ended up I walked away with another Zed after an offer and a handshake with pickup scheduled for Thursday. Uhmm...now that will make 4 2+2's (including parts car) and thanks to a wonderful understanding gorgeous wife (who may read this post) I am allowed to 'save' this one!...however I don't think I'll push it much further! So I am on the lookout for a motor...L26/28 running, I think I've got everything else...I'll post pics soon! Rev.
  2. Hey razz, welcome to the forum and congratulations on your zed. Try downloading FastStone photo resizer it does it for you in seconds! (I think it's freeware) The photo's look good but you'll have to 'over time' look at treating and protecting some of the undercarriage, this is where the Zed's tend to get cancer. Rev.
  3. don't be too despondent, I drove mine as an auto for 18months before I did my manual conversion and I still had heaps of fun!! Now that I have a manual I wish I had the convenience of an auto! they're both fun, it's more about the car than the transmission! Rev.
  4. Hi - You are going to require a gearbox & flywheel $250-500, clutch $150-350, New brake pedal, clutch pedal, master cylinder, slave cylinder etc $200 - $300, + 6-8 hours labour @ ? if you don't do it yoursel it's probably a $1500-$2000 exercise. Rev.
  5. Quite a few rust repair sections available from this guy http://cgi.ebay.com.au/DATSUN-240Z-260Z-DOOR-SKIN-RIGHT-HAND_W0QQitemZ330303667280QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_Car_Parts_Accessories?hash=item330303667280&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2|65%3A1|39%3A1|240%3A1318
  6. It was on Ebay about 4 weeks back and didn't sell, that's all I can tell you. It is a 2+2 by the way! Rev.
  7. Welcome Dan, might be a good idea to let people know your price range, if you are looking for a 260z two seater in that condition you're probably looking at 7k+. Rev.
  8. I'd be in but by the photos Pauly it would be a little short one end for the 2+2!
  9. dazzed, I hear what you're saying but I don't understand your point...are you saying that this may have worn the clutch? would appreciate your thoughts.
  10. Thanks: bought by Rev on the buy it now....cost with freight $985 from the U.S because of the dollar...so these ones locally are a bargain for my project car.
  11. Pauly..it was slipping and allowing the motor to rev high without going anywhere very quickly!
  12. I think I may know the answer but thought I might throw it out anyway. Today I was sitting at a busy intersection waiting to get across with a break in traffic, so I was 'riding' the clutch a little looking for a quick break. When the break in traffic did happen i popped the clutch and put my foot down...only to hear the motor revving out and not going anywhere fast with that residual burning smell that accompanies a burning clutch! when it cooled slightly and i changed my undies after seeing an 18 wheeler bearing down on me, the clutch seemed to work O.K. But I never want to experience that again ...dangerous! The clutch was put in new when the new motor and manual conversion went in about 4K ago, so it is relatively new but the reality is something is WRONG...any ideas? Rev.
  13. And before anyone says it...Yes! some 'real' ministers love a beer and I'm one! although never when I drive and never to excess....enough said! Beer Carlton Cold (served real cold!) or Budweiser (I lived in the States for a few years!) Mixer scotch and ice Wine CabSav or a nice merlot General Drink: COKE and heaps of it! Rev.
  14. Ok...I now have flares, front spoiler...but I still need 2+2 rear BRE type spoiler, and would consider any mags that are 15 or 16 inch, Electronic Dizzy, extractors...Oh and any cheap 240/260z Rev.
  15. Dude! (RB26det) you were the one saying jump in!...no guessing about it, Mossy had a win and good for him! your lament sounds a little contradictory to your original post. Rev.
  16. Thanks Dave...a little to narrow for me... thanks for the email with attatched pics. Rev.
  17. Hey Dave...how wide are the rims? any idea of freight to Melbourne? anybody? Rev.
  18. well don't know how I missed it seeing that I contacted the guy as soon as the ad was placed....but that's life!
  19. This is mine... ;)just got to wait to hear back from him...if it happens. They say if it seems to good to be true it probably is! Rev.
  20. I'm just picking myself up after ROFLMAO!
  21. Like Pauly...I'm real keen After my trip around the great ocean road a few weeks ago I got fed up with how the car was tracking...so I'd definitely like to have a go! Rev.
  22. O.K so I have the ZG flares but still on the hunt for some of the other bits and pieces....anything? Rev.
  23. Think I have some I'll let you know tomorrow. Rev
  24. might also add extractors to the shopping list, with all the Rb conversions going on there has got to be some of these around!
  25. Yeah, I probably should have elaborated, I'm after a sports type similar to the one I have on my avatar pic.
