  1. I've got a spare console, was planning to hold onto it incase but make me a decent offer and I'll part with it, I'll have a good look at it tomorrow and get pics of any imperfections, I think there was a small crack but where the choke lever sits so an easy fix.
  2. The Typhoons bottom end should be ready by the end of the year ( fingers crossed ), the XW GT (replica) resto and engine build is about to start (I finally found a supplier of maroon basket weave ;D ) with the roof cut for the factory windback sunroof installation next Thursday (they do it in 1 night so that's a story in itself) and the Zeds at Lindsays so hopefully in a couple of weeks by which time the flares and wheels should be on also. So either a turbo build, old school muscle resto and build or ZG/432 style fun around, or you could do all three and update it monthly as the other two builds come along, keep your feature section moving I guess for a few months.
  3. Speaking of Bathurst what about the masters on the Australia Day weekend, might be worthwhile as it's still a fair way off (3 months) so gives everyone plenty of time to get their shit ready. As for Buller I'd be in but may not have the Z ready but would love to take the XW. This thread should remain the Buller thread, I think too many suggestions have been made and it's lost course, maybe open another for suggetions for further cruises or weekend trips then run a seperate survey style thread to guage interest. Having just a simple survey at the top quickly lets everyone know exact numbers without having to read through all the posts and having to translate whether people are going or just having a chat.
  4. The ute is on ebay if someone here or anyone you might know may be interested. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/XW-GS-Ute-Replica_W0QQitemZ130260948123QQihZ003QQcategoryZ2030QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  5. It'll be somewhere around $1600 but even if benzed does get them it will be just as much due to the dollar anyway, then you will still have to pay extra to get them powder coated. Waiting for a reply now, my yahoo keeps sending them back for some reason even his sometimes end up in my junk mail and he is on my mailing list so hopefully he got my reply that I resent earlier today. I'll keep ya posted.
  6. Why would you think it's optimistic, if anything it's the bargain of the lot needing only light bodywork and a respray would get it to maybe $20K (depending on what you pay for the car in the first place, negotiate, negotiate, negotiate) so pretty decent value with respect to the company it's keeping in your post. It would make for quite the little sleeper with that plumb back blow off he's using no one would pick it for a turbo unless they listened carefully.
  7. Well I have near enough to organized my wheels through Kim, just a matter of payment method now but he is putting aside a set of RB-R in RGM for me. That's the other thing I guess is that they come powdercoated, whereas Benzed does them raw then you have to go and pay another $500-$600 to get them coated, so Kim is still the cheaper option in the long run.
  8. I'd be keeping an eye out for a burnt out or dumped Surf first, this will/should give some clue to the Z's whereabouts, the Z by now will likely be stripped down unless they respray it and remove the numbers using it for the same purpose (racing).
  9. He's the main reason I and others didn't buy in the earlier U.S. group buys, interesting how he has gone quiet since then, I wonder if he will be doing them for the same price he initially gave...... he should now I think. The RB-R's are already in the U.S. I got an email from Kim the other day but ye now the price, at least I know what I'm getting through Kim though so I will still go through him.
  10. He should get it It's red and has shiny "showroom carbies"
  11. What's a CTP extension??
  12. Neuby you can easily fight that in court as long as the officer making these decisions has no formal engineering qualifications then you should be able to argue that he has no place making these decisions as he has not got the qualification/knowledge to understand engineering principles. Secondly if these modifications were illegal then the engineers that mod plate them could be sued by individuals on the basis that they have been misled by the engineer but also in turn you could then turn around and sue the RTA (which is the government themselves essentially) for misleading the public with false information in relation to vehicle modification. If you have enough people then a simple class action against the QLD government and RTA would soon see this practice stopped or modification laws changed to cover themselves, however they would most likely not be able to make such laws retroactive which could then save a few of you. The government, any government, can not make a law and then simply say we will operate in a fashion that does not comply with our own laws because we are the government or the law officers in this region. Unfirtunately any court case where you take on local government is expensive, that's why I say to turn it into a class action as that way the cost is shared by many, but one thing I must impress on you is that you had better make sure that all those involved have legitimate claims. If just one of them has fudged the truth about what happened to them even a little the court can and most likely will assume you are all lieing in some way and most likely find against you. And by the way I'm not talking about the Magistrates but either County or if you have the means take it all the way to Federal. This is Australia, as far as I'm aware we have not been taken over by some dictatorship, we have the right to argue our case in court.
  13. If what you he wrote is exactly what you have told us here then you don't even need to worry about it really, how many cars do you know have a "crash pad" built into the steering wheel?? A soft or padded horn button is not technically a crash pad, if this is what he means then it should be obvious to a judge but have a letter from a Vicroads office stating his stupidity in case the judge is just as stupid. A couple of good ones I have heard were one being done for no lap/sash seat belt in the centre of the rear seat, mind you it was on a model that only had a lap belt for the centre. But the best was one I heard today about when a Vicroads inspector pulled a truck off the road immediately because there was a thick sludge oozing from his brake air tanks, he deemed that an engine seal had deteriorated and allowed oil into the tanks which would in turn cause the brakes to malfunction but also that the engine could blow up at any time. Anyone that knows about air tanks on trucks they collect this shit in the tanks by way of condensation, so even some of the Vicroads inspectors are clueless.
  14. Not happy because I cancelled my order through the U.S. when Ben said he'd have them end of August, I thought why not it was the same time as I would have got the others, now I have to wait again. So again not happy jan
  15. not happy jan
  16. I'm sure there would be some wreckers close by, best place to start.
  17. So this is a closed private track then?? hmmm do they hire it out to clubs and such, no doubt they do, what about a track day, kill two birds with one stone meet everyone (that comes) and give people a good idea of what hill climb is all about. your mission should you choose to accept is to get info on what costs involved, could be a good weekender actually, mine should be on the road by next week sometime hopefully so I'm in for it.
  18. How far is not far??
  19. Man I hope it's a track 6 pack or something similarly rare, otherwise you're really wasting your time not to mention money, no offence
  20. It's a bored out L24 with a racing stripe over the top, if he was asking around $30K I'd say he's in with a good chance, I have a feeling alot of these recent cars are from people who bought into the whole "Classics are worth a fortune" bit. I think we've all heard it from someone or another trying to sell us there car, "Mate it's cheap coz I don't have time to finish it but just look at the GT prices" ye well these aren't GT Falcons, even in Japan this car would be somewhere around $25K-$30K. If he gets it then that's great but the economy really isn't at a point at the moment where these kind of prices can be sustained, as I have mentioned in another similar thread the cars that started this whole thing off aren't really selling that much at the moment. The prices for these cars have come down considerably in some cases for the ones that are selling while others just sit their without even a bite.
  21. He spent $56K?? This guy is a resto shops wet dream
  22. So are these still going to be here in the next week??
  23. Hmmm sounds like a good way to advertise to me, one of my cars on the back of the tow truck and I'm hitting my target market LOL
