  4. Not sure I haven't really had a close look at it, I was thinking about getting the whole thing to use just as a spare/tow car, but it needs too much work to the body, will have to take a better look I think.

  11. Hey Lurch, we could always do one next Saturday seeing as it will be the last Saturday/weekend for 08, maybe even have a bit of a lunch at one of the local hotels in the area as a "last drinks for 08". Besides it sounds like more cars will be ready by then.
  12. Just curious as to what differences if any there would be with regard to cam profile and spc between the different heads i.e. would an N42 cam be the same as an E88?? Also would a GQ Patrol 5 speed box be better or worse than a 280ZX or the same?? I'm asking because a mate is wrecking a GQ which I already said I want the motor from but it has a 5 speed as well so just wondering if this would be a good grab as well as the engine. As for the head I think I may have hurt a valve in my boredom over the last couple of days (semi retirement sux) but have a spare e88, just wondering if cams are the same as I would like to play around LOL.

  19. Thought I'd ressurect this thread mainly as I want to look into sway bar options, so the question is what sway bar are you using if you have replaced yours with a stiffer unit and what did it cost?? Also what options are out their??
  20. Possibly with one of the closed chamber heads, but are you running a larger bore or thinner head gasket or anything else out of the ordinary?? Just did a quick run down on the calculator and all of them except the E31 10.21:1, come in under 10:1 static comp, using the standard crank and rods just with flat top pistons.

  24. The rocker cover, inlet manifold and carby tops all look like they've been sprayed with an alloy/aluminium pressure pack paint, sorry but that doesn't say $35K to me.

    On my calculator if you keep it all standard with a standard head gasket and bore size your static comp should be around 9.8:1 with a 60' overbore 10.1:1 add a 1mm gasket 10.38:1 with a 120' overbore 10.65:1 120' overbore and standard gasket gives 10.38:1 In fact the e88 and n42 heads give almost the same comp ratios
