Is that one you painted or is it ready to go?? plus mines a nitro so would need to cut holes.

The easiest way is this. Clean up rust and give it a respray in it's factory color, some vinyl stripes can be taken off at any time to bring it straight back to original, drop in an L28, some triples and maybe some head work with a cam. Again this can be taken out any time and with your matching numbers engine still as original as the day it left the factory if you ever want to sell it you can just drop it straight back in. If you bought it to enjoy it then that's my advice, plus you can take it back to original at any time as well as save causing any damage to the matching #'s engine. In the end it's your car and you enjoy it whichever way you see fit.

Great, they finally release a 240Z body but you have to buy the whole kit. I have a nitro RS4 with a WRX as well as Mustang GT body shells, I've been begging for the Z shell and when they do release it I'll have to spend another $400 odd. Oh well

Both cars I think would be a better choice to the Melbourne one, but you know what they say about Queensland cars, bring a bucket to collect the rest of the rust LOL. Look the Sydney one "looks" as though it may be the better of the two only because of the way the owner has kept it, it has the L26 with aircon, it has mud flaps for cryuying out loud. I'm gonna take a stab and say he's Maltese because of the way he keeps it with the whitewalls, head light covers and mud flaps. Hey if you get it for a good price and you don't like the color it's easy enough to get it resprayed, sometimes the color can be a gret negotiating point, something like "Ye I like it but the color looks like crap, I'll have to think about it". Walk away then call a few days later and give them a low ball offer, especially if the cars been for sale for a while they may reconsider. Ye this is how I work when I go to look at a car, but you know what I'm doing them a favor the way I see it by cleaning up there rubbsih that they can't finish or no longer want. I'm not going to pay top dollar for something that really isn't worth the asking price, some might and that's fine, they either don't realise what's involved in fixing /finishing them properly or they have too much money burning a hole in there pockets. Sometimes the asking price is not far from what the true value is but that depends on what else you get with the car besides the rusty shell. He says he has it on carsales for $15,000, all I can say is "Tell him he's dreeeeeamin", $10K he might get if he advertised it around their, but keep an eye on it as there is no reserve, so if you are the only bidder it's yours at the starting price.

Ok nedloh312 here's a quick translation of this add. Seller's Description 1976 Datsun 260z 2+2 for sale 5sp manual, sports exhaust, mild cam with twin carbys it's also been lowered with 17" alloys he thinks it's a mild cam but probably just needs a tune. I shipped this car over from WA last year, they seem to be much more expensive here (VIC). I got it cheap enough in WA and I know they pay more for them on the East coast so I figured I couldn't lose It's registered til May 2009 and needs a RWC to register in Vic when this runs out. With time running out I don't have the resources to get a RWC before then so I am offering it to someone that does. If it gets a RWC before 5/09 only the paperwork needs to be submitted to get Vic rego, after that it needs to go into the pits for full check. The car needs alot of work to get it reg'd, I mean what kind of idiot couldn't do the work within the 4, count them, 4 months I still have to sort out any roadworthy issues, if you can get this thing sorted before then you're doing well if not stiff shit. The body has a few dents here and there and carries rust that needs attention. I've been driving it regulary but the engine could do with a service and the interior could do with some love. The body has q few rust issues that will need to be sorted for rwc, but it's gonna cost too much so I'm trying to find a shmuck to buy it and take over the headache. I drive it whenever I can get it to run right but it's quite rough, if I tell you it's got a cam in it you might believe me when I start it and it runs rough, or I could just tell you it might need a tune, but I'll try the cam first see if you believe that (read his first paragraph then this, kind of ties in) This is a great looking car which are very hard to find, I'm constantly asked about it whenever I drive it as people don't see them often. At full restoration they sell for $15000 - $25000. It's hard to find one that actually looks like a good car, people really don't know what they're looking at, if only they could see the underside, it will probably need about $15,000 to fix it right, maybe $20,000 If you have any questions or would like to organise a time to view ( StKilda East) please call or message me. I think he's actually genuine here. Mate any ad that doesn't show the interior properly and the only dash pic is one with some furry shit all over it then start to worry, no engine bay pics, why?? If you're actually interested go have a look. I think it will head North of $5K only because the pics seem nice with the wheels and it seems like the paint work is semi decent so someone will get drawn to it because of that. Anytime you see something you like though go out their and look it over, the more cars you look at the more you will learn about what to look out for, this will save you in the long run. Try to get something with as little rust as possible, this alone could save you between $5K-$10K on a rebuild (maybe more) alone as most know there's no point doing a rebuild half way, you only end up spending 2-3 times as much because you keep having to re do it every few years. Good luck with your search and if you're not sure what to look for find someone that lives close to you from the forums here and ask them along, maybe a Big Mac to bribe them with, meal that is, LARGE, hehe

Any chance you got any pics of the Val ute, the jags or the Fiats?? If you can shoot them through to me at showtow.melbourne@yahoo.com.au thanks Stef

We will be at the shop from Monday the 16th of Feb, we will still be getting things organized and setting up shop but you're more than welcome to pop your heads in (don't forget the donuts) for a sticky beak. Remember we will be having the door opener blow over paint special till the end of March, if not for yours then maybe the missus car (save you buying her a new one LOL), we'll even put a bow on it for you Thanks Stef Phoenix Street Cars

you obviously opted for the budget blast You get what you pay for

I'm pretty sure it sold, if it had reserve not met at the top then it may still be around but I'm sure it did sell.

Ok news just to hand: The decision has been made and we will be based out of Geelong, spoke to the current operator today and left him with a deposit, we will be opening up in around 4 weeks but may start taking cars in about a week earlier. We will be offering budget resprays as a opening special for as little as $1200 for up to a full sized sedan all through till the end of March, this will include solid paint colors (metallic extra), no repairs just a straight rub down and door closed blow over. We can of course work something out if you have some dents you need sorted as well but just wanted to start with a decent special rate to get some work in the door. This is great for those that have a daily driver that might be looking a bit tired and can't justify buying a new car, so a spruce up of the duco might give that old girl a new lease on life, just what the doctor ordered. If you would like to get your car in I'd suggest you get in early as it will be a case of first in best dressed and once people get wind of the discounted price I rekn we may have a mini stampede on our hands. Thanks Stef

Why Grandma what a BIIIIG wooden spoon you have in your hands hahahaha

The asking price is $18,995, the $14,500 is just a start bid, but remember this is the US and they don't get a new arse ripped for parts, a mate brought over a 450hp 302 and trans built to suit last year for Au$7000. The engine alone at somewhere like VPW or Rocket sells for over $15,000 here so do the maths, it may have cost him $20,000 to build so he's put a decent figure on it to move it.

At this point nothing is set in concrete, it's just an idea to help people trying to stick to a budget most of the time they would be supervised when using dangerous equipment in particular. Like I said though it's just a thought at the minute nothing more than that. Now on a different note we will be offering BBQ days for clubs and forums based clubs to come out and have a look at the shop and any work being undertaken at the time, so keep it in mind as a possible social function/get together.

Nope no bids, but the ute did sell so that means the Z will stay a little longer, I've now got to decide whether or not I want to put it in the Shannons Grand Prix auction, they have already shown interest during a phone convo last week. The only thing with Shannons is the fees would be over $3K so I'd need to set a reserve that left me with what I wanted in case it ended at reserve or just over.

Yep well that's what I'm talking about is blasting as well as priming, you really don't want to take a chance once you have stripped the tin of all it's protection, it's a recipe for disaster as quite often from the time you strip to the time you finish can be many months so it makes sense to protect the tin as much as possible. I know of some places that are charging over $1000 just to blast then etching is extra, this is for car bodies of course not chassis sections, at this point we are looking at setting an hourly rate as some jobs are easier than others. When you have things like filler and multiple layers of paint a job might take longer than anticipated so an hourly rate would be the fairest way for both the customers as well as ourselves, the last thing we want is to rip off people but we need to make sure it remains profitable enough to stay in business. We will as I said in my first post also offer a full panel resto, rust repair and paint service so the car is in the one place from start to finish thereby decresing further any chance of contamination of the shell should someone choose to go down that path. I know alot of guys want to do some of the work themselves and we are looking into potentially allowing this to hapen at the shop, it really is just a matter of working out how to charge for something like this for it to be feasible.
-
We haven't actually set any prices as yet, that's this weeks meeting LOL sorry, but suffice to say we will try to beat any genuine quotes. So in saying that what other quotes/prices have you already got??
-
I was just wondering if anyone is interested in my factory 260 wheels, if someone wants them I won't sell them with the car, they have excellent near new tyres so would like around $150ono per wheel. The auction finishes tonight so let me know asap.

Anyone needing rust repair work as well as sand blasting done it looks like I may be able to help you soon. The finance for the new truck fell through and I am looking at starting up a resto/rust repair shop with a friend, he is the one doing all the welding LOL, but if anyone needs something done let me know. I'll keep you informed of when and exactly where as at the moment we have an option of either Werribee or Geelong as a base, once a decision has been made I can then start booking jobs in, an approximate start date though is for early to mid March. We will be offering a full service from small sand blasting jobs right through to full turn key restorations, no matter what your budget we can work out a good deal, we already have interest from a few hot rodders and some Dodge/Chrysler guys for various jobs. We will also have a low bake down draught spray booth in the coming months, it currently has a rear/door draught set up that is suffcient for priming and prepping as well as using a blast room. Mig welding, plasma cutting, re plating, re flooring, panel fabrication will be done through an outside source but will of course be an added service for hard to find replacement panels. So for now I thought I'd just give you all a heads up, post any questions you have here or pm me and as soon as things start moving I'll let you all know. Thanks

I've lowered the start bid as well as made it a NO RESERVE auction, currently 63 people watching the auction. If it doesn't go here I have already spoken to Shannons who say they would be happy to put it in there Grand Prix auction with a reserve where I had my original "Buy Now" figure of $18,500.
-
Aren't you a Kraut Lurch??
-
Life goes on, there will be others, as for rwc people pay more for cars with club reg which isn't transferable so same thing really, as for tyre kickers as long as they put down a deposit first they can kick em all day if there shoes last.
-
Thanks Modular Just changed it to a no reserve sale, one bid could buy, also added the pic of the new gear knob and boot cover, now matches the steering wheel.
-
I'm selling as I have spread myself too thin between 4 cars, I have decided to concentrate on the Typhoon engine build and GT replica resto so the Z as well as a the XW ute are going. They are both on ebay as of last night, the Z has a reserve of $16500 which I will reveal to members if any are interested, I am negotiable but not by much. here is the link http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Datsun-260Z-2-seater_W0QQitemZ130280713177QQihZ003QQcategoryZ2030QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
