  1. On my old Nissan V8 I had standard 240z tacho modified by auto electrician worked fine With the Ls1 it wouldn't work so I fitted a aftermarket tacho into the outer case from zed tacho and fitted that in Mick

  3. Don't be a stranger if you need anything while your here Live in Devonport so pm if you want or need anything Mick
  4. Good to see your back into the car Peter Was disappointed for u when I saw u put it up for sale I re ran my brake lines years ago trying to tidy engine bay for show ended up drilling holes below master cylinder and then mount brake switch and line connections in wheel well has worked fine with added bonus of less heat on brake lines Did make a cover plate to mount over lines and switch for protection from rocks but don't really think its that necessary Engineering didn't even notice it was different to normal Mick
  5. i ran with std master cylinder for years no problem with both non vented and later vent hilux calipers and disc brake rear Mick

  12. havent got my car here to measure but would suggest a magnaflow 11385 or 14385 muffler for middle of your car dual 2.25 pipes in and out 14" long body with 4" x 9" body for rear if your happy to go with stacked tail pipes like my car could run same muffler on rear magnaflow is a good brand cant say ive tried these mufflers on a zed so dont know what sound level will be Better still ship car over to tassie and ill make u a sweet system Mick
  13. Thanks guys was a good year managed to get out and have some fun in the zed ran all our clubs tarmac events plus the state hillclimb championship car ran sweet all year no issues apart from a dodgy oil pressure sender on the track day at symons was a nervous first few laps driving around with gauge reading nothing. Ended up winning class in state series and third outright. Mick from dover in his 240z ended up second outright only beaten by a hillclimb special Was sad to see jasons car after he punted the wall but im sure it will fix up good with visit to the chassis jig The go kart track event was a total hoot all second gear and just control the slide still put in a reasonable time Afraid the new federal tyres are looking bit sad now just enough left in them for powercruise at the end of january .Will need some new rubber for next years events trying to decide what to run advans seem the go Mick
  14. damn mick was fast good luck in the future kodie hope u get your dream zed one day mick

  17. exhaust tube is cut and used as a spacer between bottom of strut insert and strut housing Was recomended in jags that run book for sectioning struts has worked fine for me mick
  18. pack the bottom piece of exhuast tube works a treat just measure tube diameter and go to a exhaust shop get piece cut to length mick
  19. Ive been running 4 point harness for long time but to keep engineer happy i had to fit std belts back in So i went to local repco and found klippan lap sash belts to suit rear of a 180b of all things bolted right up perfect suited my needs I know when looking through the klippan catalog there where more options with inertia reels than lap sashs might be worth a look mick
  20. Here in tasmania we recoginise modification plates from other states As such any car that is mod plated can be registered here But cars only have engineering papers need to go through mod plate process to be registered here Having fought the magic weight to capacity formula here in tas under the australian system the big thing to remeber is the other page of the rules that says the highest weight for that cars chassis family can be used to calculate as such for a 240z s30 chassis u can use weight of s30 260z 2 seater The weight quoted to me for a 240z by transport is 1065kg dry weight reported as the australian delivery weight as such it can only run a 4260 cc engine (the formula is 800kg to 1100kg cars times by 4) So this means the the 260z 2 seater weight 1190 kg by 5 gives u 5950 cc capacity (formula 1100kg to 1400kg cars by 5) Now all it depends on is proving to the transport that a 260z 2 seater exists and trust me transport tas didnt want to play that game But i did get my shiny blue mod plate in the end Mick
  21. try http://www.toperformance.com.au/distrib_fs.html in melbourne they are koni agents and know there stuff if they dont have a koni part number listed for a 260z they will know another one that will fit Mick
  22. Be good to see u if your in devonport or anywhere in the NW My workshop is opposite the Spirit of tasmania terminal Just look for the Carline mufflers orange and black sign I never get sick of talking about zeds Mick

  25. My method was to have 240z fuel tank steam cleaned then I bought fuel tank out of a daewoo had that steam cleaned too Cut the fuel pump mounting plate out of the daewoo tank .Cut a hole in top of zed tank to suit the daewoo mount fitted a swirl pot into bottom of the zed tank Welded mounting plate out of daewoo tank into top of zed tank .Removed the std daewoo pump and changed length of daewoo mount to suit the depth of zed tank ,fitted walboro pump (to suit ls1or wrx) to the daewoo mount and wired it up Then tank back to the radiator guy to check for leaks he soldered a few small leaks Bolted pump in adjusted fuel gauge sender so it clears the new fuel pump set up put tank back in car and alls good pump sounds just like any late model efi car Pretty sure u could use any efi type tank for the mount the daewoo just had the most suitable look when i went to local wrecker Your right it is bit of pain to change a fuel pump should it ever die but it pretty much the same for any current efi car u have to drop tank to change a pump unless the manufacturer was nice enough to have fitted a cover above tank in car to aid pump removal there are some other ideas on this link http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,9349.msg90765.html#msg90765 mick
