  1. Well hodgo was just looking at class E record 34.79 for hillclimb and 36.33 see me sitting 6th in class it dont seem that far away might still have some business to complete on the hill Will try get the big girl to more events though just a few more tweaks all bolt ons Mick
  2. Was good day well run by the northwest car club Zed ran a treat Went there with plan to get a 37 sec run ended with a 36.33 guess who wants a 35 sec run now Still more in car just driver holding her back now Wheels are getting a work out matt look good and handle great with federal rsr tyres Though guy on radar duties said he clocked me at over 160km with smoke coming off back wheels Cant wait to get her out for another club day
  3. any updates from dave
  4. Mine is handling 404 hp at rear wheels so far but as u say dont try foe super fast changes smooth and steady they like Put a 4.3 diff in im using 6th now on highway cruising 120 km 1800 revs and was into 5th at symons plains with still more to come but that was powercruise so couldnt do a full speed run mick
  5. Bleed fitting is std size i got a high pressure grease line the right length and it bolted straight in then bought a replacement bleed nipple from auto spares shop and fitted that to other end of line It just lays up side of motor to about the oil pressure switch so much easier than the factory setup mick
  6. Im running t56 behind my ls1 works fine with cammed normally aspirated motor
  7. Put 2 screw style hotdogs in middle 12" long and another 2 under the diff which where the normal glass packed 12" hotdogs Its loud when u punch it but nice to cruise with too would suggest bit quieter than old 2.5" system with single 2 into one muffler
  8. and the new twin 3" exhaust was damn loud out of the gonzo mufflers so ended up putting two hotdogs in plus modified lukey race muffler to accomodate the two 3" pipes sounds good and does not drone on highway Still coming to grips with the stacked exhaust tips but best i can do with out cutting up the rear of my car it is unique
  9. New 57mm alloy radiator with zirgo fan and shroud
  10. Ok before u ask picture of new wheels
  11. Had great weekend at Powercruise car ran perfect new Federal RSr tyres hooked up great New wheels looked trick New radiator and fan combo kept car cool all weekend in hot 30 c (IT IS TASSIE) New twin 3" exhaust sounded great and fairly sure it let a few extra hp out Lower 4.3 lsd diff finally made 6th gear useful on highway can sit on 115km now at 1800 revs and car is happy plus it sure pulls harder off the line even with the 18" rims Video of car on utube cruising the track have a look Mick
  12. Zed made it through powercruise only broke drivers window guessing it fell out of track in door and shattered inside was too hot to care on weekend have to run over to dads shed and get spare Looking forward to seeing u guys down here on the big island Mick
  13. Ive owned my 240z since 1986 no plans to part with it now nearly 26 years Mick
  14. The one option i would suggest for mounts is to make it same as the right hand side of johns car kit and use same mount to both sides pretty easy to do Andrew who built a ls2 260z in S.A went that way on my suggestion and it worked fine Pity he sold his car would have been well worth a look for you but last conversation i had with him he said he believed car ended up over here in tassie On sumps or oil pans as the usa people call them pretty sure be easy to buy from usa web based parts suppplier peter and andrew bought theres that was and was not much more than i paid for second hand one from ebay usa and then i had to buy tray and dipstick from spare parts supplier anyway Here in aus eagle imports be good one to try Will load some pics with my ideas next week under the pump this week got lot of small changes to make to car for Powercruise next weekend mick
  15. From my experience the camaro sump is good choice for this convesion bolts straight up and fits good you will need to get windage tray dip stick and dipstick tube to suit this sump as well Another issue to consider is where u want to get your oil pressure reading from u can get a std bolt on fitting for this sump and then fit std datsun style oil pressure sender As for mounts Johns cars in texas makes a good kit that fits well peter and i have both used this kit I used std guages apart from tacho which i installed aftermarket center to std tacho housing Cable x make a speedo converter which takes signal from gearbox and drives std speedo works good As i own a exhaust shop i have made my own extractors to fit managed to get 1 3/4 inch 4 into ones into car tight fit but good performance i was running twin 2.5" exhaust which was nice sound Have just made new twin 3" system is very loud going to take some serious muffler to quieten down just not much room to put it Good luck Mick
  16. Good luck jon not a project for the faint hearted but the result is well worth the headaches Mick
  17. Had new outer arrive few weeks ago been polishing the rest up. What brake pads where u running matt it sure is a pain to get off two of them About to order some new type r tyres for them Will finish off real good mick
  18. Thanks Tim we are lucky to own cars like ours Hoping to catch up with you guys when your down hear gordon have already contacted craig Hope you have time to call into workshop when u arrive for breakfast will have zed there going to busy couple of weeks have tas power cruise end of month lots of tweaks to do Mick
  19. I was very happy today when engineer rang to say he had a bright shiny mod plate for me Car will now be registered as a Ls1 powered 240z instead of the old nissan v8 For something that started out as being straight forward deal the Transport Department tried to make it hard but we won through in the end Thanks to every one who helped when i was frantically trying to find evidence to counter transport departments argument over weight It seems so hard when you show the evidence that a 260z 2 seater weight is 1190 kg and department is saying but what is a 260z 2 seater werent they all 2 plus 2 Just Happy to be legal well as long as they dont look too close Mick
  20. Hi craig just fitted one of the 3 core 56 mm chinese alloy radiator to my car after running a alloy camaro rad (jags that run radiator) old one was single 40mm core Havent done much driving but car is running cooler and when i ran hillclimb last year i was concerned about how temp went up when i shut car down This year car was cooler every time i went back to it and fan did not even turn on this year when it was on most of day last year i did fit alloy shroud and biggest capacity fan i could find that would fit Just hope it keeps car cool for off street drags at powercruise this year So far for me it looks like a good thing mick
  21. We did a system similar to this on a eb 6 cyl falcon club car system was 3 into 2 extractors then twin 2" pipes all the way to back of car we ran two 24" hotdogs Car was noisy but fine for a club car Guy claimed it gave him 2.5 seconds drop in lap around symons plains so as u can guess he was wrapped Mick
  22. I run a exhaust shop and i can tell you now you will not buy off shelf extractors to suit this engine car combination need to get custom set made if you dont want to run std manifolds having had 2 different V8s in my 240z i would be looking at moving your motor as far back as u can as per the Jags that runs system for 350 chevs installs they have the dizzy half inch off the firewall it would make lot bigger difference than moving battery mick
  23. Ive been running V8 for 20 years with battery in std position and never had problem with heat on battery Mick
  24. Car looks great Hodgo Nice to see it coming back to its former glory My vote would be body colour still like way it looks on my car 20 years after painting it Thanks for heads up know i need to stop working on my car and get out and drive it more next year hope to see u at more events Mick
  25. Thanks Matt that be great Mick
