Dropped my baby in for tune tonight kinda excited to see what improvements tune can make been running new motor with big cam 232 in and 242 out with previous tune computer has had it running so rich compensating for changed cam have replaced cat converters with hi flow ones and removed hotdogs from exhaust Havent got around to tackling long tube extractors yet have plates and collectors all ready to go Can feel huge improvement over old ls1 package so hoping with tune it can get more lol Hoping for some big numbers will post results tomorrow night mick

Shouldnt be that hard im running shortened steering knuckles on mine with coil overs ls1 conversion and 235 tyres and its still way easier than my rx4 and a lot of cars that i have come through workshop Id love to do a rack and pinion steering conversion on the rx4 its a pig in motorkhanas way easier to use hydraulic handbrake to turn

great to see another ls1 zed up and running took mine to show on weekend then took long road home so much fun to open it up and enjoy that v8 power mick

Ive been happy with my hilux 4 spot conversion use falcon discs works a treat Without spending big bucks reckon u will find it hard to find twin spot rear calipers with handbrake included in caliper

there is o ring in side that seals two halves together Did workshop advise why price change would be checking pistons and outer body to make sure there is no pitting in either as this would lead to leaks even with new seals know i was quote stupid price for new pistons once

i removed seperate indicators and fitted h4 halgeon lights with park lights inside headlights then got set of amber lenzes and fitted them to park light enclosures cleaned up look of car orginally bought second hand jap import amber lenzes but recently found spare set on ebay in states so bought some as spares has worked well for me mick

pretty sure its only illegal to fit second hand belts if car has been in serious accident Had a discussion with transport here i tassie few years ago was told had to have orginal belts in car to meet australian design rules anything else be it replacement belts or race harness had to be approved for use by suitable selt belt installer was bit annoyed at time as car had been register for 6 years with harness's only and guy was telling me i had to fit std seat belts to use on road leave harness for racing only

Well my old rx4 sedan has very little going for it in the sporty or exotic stakes but it is still alot of fun Did consider rebuilding a rx4 coupe when navigator rolled old car end for end 6 times but by then i had soft spot for sedan so rebuilt sedan and sold coupe lol Reckon mate had the least sporty car used to run a datsun 2300 around symons plains was like 1.25 laps when i was running 1.13 in zed few years ago let him run rx4 around symons and he did a 1.15 he was like wow there is a bend in the back straight never saw that before Other car i used to do grass motorkhanas with was std gemini sedan upset lot guys in the datsun club beating them in that just seemed to have perfect power and handling on grass there turbo 1600s where digging holes and the gemini was just up and gone lol mick

They polished up real good though i was sick of undoing and doing bolts up in them by the time i finished them was good to get the old buffer out again very satisfying polishing them Finding a 4 th center cap has been a challenge too got one off evil bay but didnt look hard enough was different style Then next one guy ran price up on me when i got it its same as others but loose fit gonna try heating tabs and bending them back into shape with some silicon just to be sure Was shocked to find some 17" wheels with right offset let alone simmons so had to act quick when i saw them

whats happening with the burg 2 strokes blue rat just sold my wr450 gone back to yz250 2 stroke damn feels good so much lighter and a power band again is so much fun ill have to check out the burgs lol

did you get it idling smooth with tune Im sure you will have a ball with 350 hp when i put my car together i was having lot of fun with it running on 7 cylinders showed 247 hp on dyno (one plug shorted out to extractor) was very exciting when i fixed that and had 295 hp cant wait to see what dyno shows now with cam cause it pulls so much harder now sam at c.o.m.e reckoned cam be good for extra 100hp at wheels have great time on the track with car mick

i found ls1 ecm would not ru std zed tacho since i wanted to keep std look inside i bought after market tacho and pulled guts out and fitted it inside zed tacho housing works fine now

i went with 1 7/8 primary pipes cam is c.o.m.e racing one when i rang sam at c.o.m.e he says what you want cam for told him ls1 in 240z and he says your insane why do u want a cam for that must be an animal std lol then says well since your crazy go with 232 in 242 exh as big as he would recommend without major internal changes Had mafless tune done before i installed std motor organising tune for cam shortly still deciding whether to bottle NOZ bottle on when i get tune done see what it makes with extra squirt Diff is working fine running Dr30 skyline clutched r200 cam comes on like a 2 stroke power band at 3000 rpm then just pulls like a train till redline

keep an eye on your heat wrap tim it can be a real rust trap But agree these motors do create alot of heat in engine bay

in same boat with my car since fitting big cam its running very rich and lumpy but wow that cam really opens the engine up what sort exhaust have you fitted to your car running cats and twin 2.5" on mine with resonator on each bank and single straight through muffler at rear before cam was thinking a little quiet but since cam think it be best left alone

saw one other day " ISPEED " didnt think it was the smartest choices myself another was "TAXTOY" saw local truck driver with it first on a suzuki swift couple years later was on commdore ss last time i saw it had it on new Landcruiser guess he buys new car instead of paying tax Really thought the mazda 121 with NO FEAR was going a bit far though mick

sure is amazing how the costs of a conversion add up looks cheap when u look at motor and box just everything else u need to make it work that adds up not for the faint hearted lol and ive done it twice

got down to 1.13 on old symons track before they shortened it for new pits that was with nissan 4.4ltr v8 First day at symons with ls1 got 4 laps before i blew it to to pieces but got a 1.09 felt like was more to come ran old ls1 on dyno 247 hp at rear wheels on 7 cylinders lol with all 8 cylinders 294 hp Looking forward to putting new ls1 on dyno some one slipped a big cam (did i really need more hp) in while putting new engine together c.o.m.e says its good for 100 hp and damn it feels like it might just be true need tyres with more grip mick
