  1. There is a 260z 2+2 race car here in NZ that the owner was lead to believe had a stroker engine in it....the car went hard + the driver drove hard. Then after an issue with the engine it was pulled and replaed. The engine was striped for a rebuild and it was a stroker...well a de-stroker it was a 88mm bore with a L20A crank and it rev'd to 9k.
  2. Adam there is one on evilbay right now http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-240Z-Series-1-2400CC-Valve-cover-Clean-3-/380701476013?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item58a39384ad&vxp=mtr
  3. There was a place in Japan doing FG replicas at one time that would be your best shot or if I find one before the Kakimoto Datsun 260z item I do a swap
  4. Guys, I would really like to get hold of one of these like the one Benny sold 2 or 3 years ago. This will go on my Datsun 260z race car that is getting built to period spec using period brakes and other mods that were all period. The car will have an L28 so the period will be 1975 aka when Nissan first released the N42/N42 L28 (and the reason I have 3 x N42/N42) Here is a sample pic If not I will pick up a L20et one locally (will do this anyway as I know where one is for sale) and remove the turbo letters and make my own style
  5. I know when we install the RT type diff mount we cut the shit out of it so we can still use the stock lower mount and bracket. This way we know the diff is in the factory position - Nissan engineers spent a lot of time $$ to get that right so why would we change it for the same setup??? To day we don't use the GM mount but I purchased some of energy suspension jeep chassis bump stops that we cut down and enlarge the holes (don't line up with the stock diff bolt holes - close but a bit of elongating required) we have it set so as the stock mounts bolts up this bump stop is just touching the RT bracket over the top of the diff. This limits/controls the nose lift better than the stock strap but works in the same manor so the diff is in the factory location using a factory bracket and mount. We do also replace the stock mount with the more $$$ and stiffer/stonger version from Kameari.
  6. Great progress. And big L6 are fun aren't they
  7. First off good luck with the sale. Second - if the car is a RHD it will not be a 69 - too many buy into the old "first 500 built/sold in 69" - however that is a LHD/USA market thing not the general RHD export built cars.
  8. Not sure CAMS rules are the same as some of ours here in NZ but as of Jan 2013 new builds must not have the catch can on the same side as the exhaust (if possible ie V6/V8/V12 etc that might not be possible) but inline engines that is the case.
  9. Extra wires ARE for electric fuel pump and they terminate around the center console. As a number have already stated grab handle is only on the passenger side I can check the parts catalogs to confirm what the AU specs/ what shows up in there. I recall when I purchased HS30-00016 it had the original spare wheel and original spare tyre and it was black. No overflow bottle was ever fitted to any S30 that I know of, as stated just a hose down the side of the radiator. I have one of the spare wheel things but I am sure it would get damaged in transit + shipping would be crazy.
  10. Well Peter tells me it is his wife's car, she writes/has written for NZ Performance car for ages I believe (I don't read it, too much modern stuff in it like 90's civics etc) Yet it is Peter who borrowed my ZG hinges to modify the stock items to operate in the same plain. Also Peter who visited my mate Ricky to get his help with the setup/mounting of his triples....so it does look like Peters car to me too And it's Mrs Taryn Kelly these days I believe.
  11. Bump to see if others are interested in this still? Also my genuine Prince GTB airbox (or as it states on the part number Duct Air) arrived today and I see why Alan needed to modify this to work as the Prince G7 triple manifold must have each carb on a slight angle to level the carbs out (assume the G7 mounted in the S54 is higher in the front vs the rear).
  12. Feeling a bit sea sick after watching that video - swing back and forth...back and forth.... :-\ Very short intake manifold and very short trumpets - get some longer trumpets given you have the room - it should improve the torque some more. And you are right - you need to sort the linkages out. I bet you are pleased to have triples on and it running after the poor start with the bolt and thermostat housing.
  13. That is why I have 2 zeds
  14. They all look like hot wheels toys. the wheels look silly and too big imho.
  15. That should be a yes http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_Navara
  16. well it looked like a brake line that you bend to far - it is no longer round or even slightly oval but more like a kink and flat - you know kinda Gangsta style.
  17. Right I know I said I was out as I have one of my own coming from Japan - I have decided if we can get the numbers I would still want a copy version too So I am in again - I have managed to get another member interested also. 1. Nzeder 2. Gav240z 3. BAM083 4. acf321 Anymore - I personally don't care if it take 12 months to get the number but as long as we do it would be shame to have such a nice looking/and proven item not available to us. There is no perfect solution as each engine build will be different but the setup Alan came up with looks good, works and works well. The thing I like about this setup is it works with the longer intake aka redline and cannon as not many do. I did consider another unit from Japan that was designed for the S20 powered cars aka GT-R and Z432. Others including HS30-H have successfully installed these units on the L-Gata engine by flipping the unit. These units from Japan are not cheap but these come with built in ram tubes/trumpets and again work well on the cars. Here are some pics of HS30-H from classiczcars if you want to take a look - however from the looks they will not work with the redline/cannon length type of intake manifold. http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/fairlady-240zg-hs30-h/p1579-new-camcover-and-airbo.html This is why I am keen on this setup - it works on the longer intake manifolds and my engine builder (when I start my engine build) wanted to try the long units.
  18. I think Tony D on hybridz.org might have played with a large cam like that on the saltlake car.....nothing below 3000rpm.
  19. Correct I was the one who was tackled I guess I was not fast enough in that case....I usually was ok silly backs lol I played 11, 13 or 15.
  20. Well this is all something I will have to learn with my wilwood pedal box - not sure I could do it with the stock pedals. Like any good kiwi boy I played Rugby Union and with that comes joint injuries. My right ankle would be the worst too it has limited movement after a 120KG prop jumped on it when it was sticking out the side of ruck - back in the day when rucking was allowed. For the VIC members a Ruck is not like your AFL Ruckman. It is when the ball is somewhere in a pile of bodies and player who think they see the ball will ruck (strick with the boot) as hard as they can to get the opposition hands of the ball or bodies out of the way etc. Sometime over zealous forward will even jump down with that first ruck movement aka my ankle sticking out the side and as I have a left leg and was on my left side my right was off the ground. So when a 120KG is jumping into the mall and lands on your right ankle it gives up very quickly and in my case the quick way to the ground was a 90 degree (more like 70 degree as there was some movement with the compression of flesh) bend = busted ankle. Anyway the stock pedals would require too much angle for my limited movement that I have. I can only hope that I can do still do with the setup I have.
  21. Thanks for not bidding Mark No Alan it does not come with the 90 elbow so I will have to sort that out at some stage.
  22. Here are the pics as shown on the auction
  23. lol hmm let me think about that....NO....these days I would not use a 35+ year old rod in any motor I build if I want the L14 spec I would have custom ones made if none where available. It was on Yahoo but you needed to search for S54B ie the model code for the GTB. It had a buy now of Jp Y90000 but it was a no reserve auction with a start bid of Jp Y39000 and my agent was the only bidder so a very good find and purchase. I still have to pay my agent his fee and shipping to me which is an approx $150 AUD but I am more than happy given it is NOS aka new in the factory box. These are very rare these days. I would love to own a real S54B. One day you never know
  24. Sorry to say I am out. Now the why I am out. I have just managed to secure a NOS one of these Prince GTB airboxes for $450 AUD - I still have to pay for shipping from Japan to me here in NZ and import duties. But I am one happy bloke.
  25. Adam that colour looks great out and in the sun. Great choice, the colour of the body and the silver of the panasports and bright work....all just work so well together Cheers Mike PS looks like stand front calipers I spy....no mk63 or light covers that made their way over the pond......what must be almost 3 years ago now.
