  1. LOL Van, if you love the L28 so much why don't you marry it? Seriously though its honestly not worth it. Those guys in the US who did it, probably did it because: a.) Import Engines like the Sr20 turbo / RB26 etc.. are not as common as in Aus. b.) The L28 turbo is cheap and easy to get in the US and has plenty of aftermarket parts to help get big power numbers. The L28 is a great engine, but is very dated now. Even if it sounds great you would probably be disappointed with it in a 180SX.
  2. Stop it! you guys are sooo tempting me to do an RB conversion on my Z. Naughty Naughty Naughty! Must block unclean thoughts .
  3. Sulio, let me know if your happy with the front page promotion of this event. see http://www.auszcar.com/ Just under latest forum posts.
  4. If you guys need anything in Illustrator format let me know. Also do we want to have different size stickers? Like maybe one to suit the 1/4 window and 1 for the rear hatch?
  5. That looks HOT!! I'd probably consider buying it if I was in Australia, probably a good thing I'm not.
  6. Yeah especially considering that a totally Z went for $3000 on ebay the other week. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260234024582&ssPageName=ADME:B:WNA:AU:1123 Makes this look like a bargain alright.
  7. This car epitomizes everything that is 1980. Its in the US so didn't post it in the Ebay section. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-Z-Series-240-Z-Datsun-1973-240Z-in-storage-for-25-Years-19K-MILES_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6187QQihZ013QQitemZ230247712854QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW Item number:230247712854 Thought it might be a good conversation starter . Looks like Hee Man on the bonnet.
  8. Eiji's car looks fantastic even when its raining. It just seems to glow!
  9. Of course for a Z enthusiast one of the most desirable cars is the 432 and 432r
  10. BRE Race Car, Perfection? Almost.
  11. I've been saving this like the last cookie in the cookie jar. I love old race cars and you can't beat an old racing Zed, especially the Japanese ones. I love the BRE Zed, but so many have emulated it and only a handful have really done it well. This on the other hand is almost perfect! I love the wheels, if anyone knows what wheels they are. I want a set .
  12. Did that incidentally have a mesh JDM grille on it? I swear I saw that car down in Hawthorn near Swinburne University a few times.
  13. We're really going off topic here, but why did you sell it looks mint? . Wish I still had my first 240z. I sold it to a mate, who hasn't done much with it in the last 4 years as he has another early Z which he is fixing first. Then he had a child and other commitments. I am hoping to buy it back, at a marked up price from what I sold it to him and fix it up to original condition. Very original car and so much fun to drive, I really miss it. My current Z isn't the same yet, funny how you get attached to your first car. I worked hard at 16-17 to buy it.
  14. Agreed, 10 years ago it was possible to probably do it with your budget, now however the rarity and desirability of the Z has influenced their prices. Early RX3's are fetching 25k - 35k for decent examples, its only a matter of time before the 240z reaches that price and higher (since its a better car IMHO). Its not the cheap fun it used to be, but it still cheaper than alot of other classics.
  15. I know a certain someone who used to use those strut tops as engine mounts in a 300zx (Z32). They seem to be a universal tool!. Should sell them on Ebay for big money! . As a side note, I've bee told the 260z's changed their strut tower design to accommodate for the Rally cars. Apparently the early 240z rally cars butchered their strut towers in the gruelling rallies of the 70's . So they redesigned and strengthened them in the later RS30 series chassis. *Might be the reason for the extra rubber. Not that Lurch has any kiddies in the back seat .
  16. I'll do it later tonight for you. I agree though the charcoal centre would be a million bucks. I tend to like the gloss black centre too. All black looks awesome too.

    For my next trick

I was polishing a valve cover like that. Pain in the arse. How do you get the inbetween bits? All those nook and crannies?
  18. Using the same clutch in my Z. Works great for me.
  19. Here is a PNG file and the original PSD file. You will need the Nissan Font which can be found earlier in this thread. The PNG should be ok as its 24bit with alpha transparency. 2445_.zip

    For my next trick

so when are you doing mine? :-D
  21. Now now Sulio, I'm sure nobody wants to buy your crabs. You should change underwear more often to avoid that sort of thing.
  22. They do restoration work on classic cars including the early Z. They also have some specialist performance parts that might be worth looking at and some rust repair panels. http://www.fourways-engineering.co.uk/
  23. In Lieu of our own buyers guide article there is one here on a UK based website. http://www.practicalclassics.co.uk/buyingguide.php?sid=540&page=1 Its a PDF file, you will need to download the article which is about 2mb. Should be a good start for those looking to buy an early Zcar.
