  1. Did you meet him Lurch? What makes you say that? Other than the way the car was modified. Which in my opinion isn't that bad.
  2. Cool good to see this car still around. I remember the article I still have it at home. Does the car still have the original hubcaps? I think you got it for a very reasonable price honestly. I did, its still there or it should be still there. It says Canberra Meet. Its the bottom link. I can amend this if need be though. Good to see you guys are getting organised and have a few numbers eager to meet. Hope it works out well.
  3. Yeah agree totally, fantastic car. Would love to meet up with you at some stage and see it in person. Its been so long since I've seen a proper Z in person, I go through with withdrawals at times . Love those wheels, I've seen them before on BIG SAM in the UK. Only just got back to Ireland from Greece yesterday. So only saw all this now .

Nice view. Is this where the Melbourne water reserves are located?

Great looking car, good to see you stopped by.
  6. Hi Noe, Maybe give these guys a try. They specialise in old skool air con systems. http://www.vintageair.com/ Might be worth asking them about a kit for a 240z? Surely some Aussies have installed Air Con in their 240z's?
  7. Thanks, yeah the new site will have a gallery section and the ability to attach images to any post. There will be alot of the same features on this site, but the new site will be more closely integrated and hopefully more user friendly. I'm looking to cater for all other Japanese Classic Cars and on a global basis as oppose to just Australia - although I'm sure it will have lots of Australian content. Depending on how things go I might be able to provide a Japanese translation of the sites content which would mean Japanese readers, which in turn might mean we get some Japanese related content. Its all early days now so will see how things go. I've noticed some small bugs in the design after testing in a few browsers and after templating for the new CMS I'm going to use so working through that right now.
  8. Forgot to mention starting bid at $245.00 AU.
  9. Hi guys, Great set of early hubcaps on Oztion auction site. Starting relatively low considering I think. http://www.oztion.com.au/buy/auction.aspx?itemid=3702806&d=&sort=0&pg=1&cat=0&view=List&f1=&f2=&type2=&type3=&type4=&type5=&s=&pcode=&dis=0&freepost Item number:3702806 Pic attached. Can someone please buy these before I can. I honestly should resist. Early hubcaps are getting harder and harder to find.
  10. Hi mate, Pretty cool that you went to all this effort on our behalf. If others have positive experience with this shop and offer, please post back here. If there is really good feedback I'd consider making this post a sticky.
  11. This is normal. There's nothing wrong with it .
  12. Awesome car and great article and write up. Should have saved it for the front page . I have a few articles to write up at the moment, and I'll be in Greece for 2 weeks (its a hard life I know), but when I get back I'd love to whip something up if your ok with that.
  13. Yeah, not sure why either. What's your current asking price now? Might be good to refresh a few memories and those in the market for an early modded Z. Might be a good idea to include more details shots of the interior / under carriage and other common rust areas (apologies if you have already done this and I missed it). Anyway a free bump and back to the front. (notice I removed the "please dont bump post") since I figure its not really a big issue here.
  14. Must have missed this one. 240z and 260z air boxes are different, you will need the 240z box if you want retain an original looking engine bay. The balance tubes are slighty different. You will need to plug up the additional holes in the 260z tube. If you can I'd get the original 240z stuff, to make the switch over as painless as possible.
  15. My favorite quote is this one "this is the best 240z project car you will ever find, with MATCHING ENGINE & CHASSIS NUMBERS ID plates included." That's quite a statement, I've certainly seen better. He must be a car sales man.
  16. Yeah personally I wouldn't bother with it is all I was saying. Like you say they are like Coke Cans, and once the metal is fatigued its not as strong, personally I value my safety too much to risk it. I'd rather find a modest (albeit rusted) out example that's at least straight and start with that. Also all the meats been picked off the bones of this car. There is practically nothing left, which begs the question of why would you strip everything, but leave an engine? If the engine is so valuable strip it out and sell it separately or better yet sell off those carbs. Those carbies alone could fetch $1000 AU + with manifold. There's just something not quite right for me with the whole deal, hence the reason I'd avoid it. All the best to whoever buys it, but its gonna take some serious coin to fix her up nice. If your going to race it, well it will take some serious coin to build such a car anyway so I guess you would know what your up against. I'm interested to see final sale price.
  17. Comparing to the machinery you were against, I'd say that's a kick arse time. Just goes to show how potent the old Z is on a track. Good work, sounds like you are really enjoying your old Z . Would love to get into circuit racing myself, just don't have the cash for it yet.
  18. Is this car still for sale? If not I'll remove the thread. Thanks, Gavin.
  19. I wasn't going to do this, but I decided I would get feedback on the design before I went ahead and put the rest of the website together. http://www.gavindoolan.com/vintagejdm/ Sulio I made you famous! , but the image of Sulio's car will rotate with other images of other cars when the website is live. If you have problems with the design or layout can you let me know: 1.) what browser you are using. 2.) What screen resolution. 3.) What operating system. Its been slow progress putting it together in my spare time, so I'm hoping your responses will keep me motivated to get the site ready. I will be covering lots of old Japanese cars. Just to name a few . Fairlady Roadsters 1600's / 510's Rotaries - RX3 , RX2, R100 Toyota 2000GT Honda S600 , S800 Of course 240z, 260z, And heaps more, based on user feedback. I'm thinking of having a "soft cut off date of 1985". Originally I was thinking 1980, but the Supra, 280zx and Starion etc.. were a bit later. Feedback! Please
  20. Good price Rev, my Miki's cost me $1500 AU once landed and import tax etc.. Exchange rate was higher at the time though.
  21. Its a basket case for sure. I wouldn't try fixing this up its simply too far gone. Good for parts - what's left that is.
  22. As Alan said lets just keep this on the topic of a FYI.
